  1. Well.. i have a new coil on it's way (ignition) new tps sensor, if that doesn't fix it. It's going to be a new mallory distributor.
  2. alright from that diagramn i got defrost air blowing.. not sure if it's hot yet.. warming car as i type. but i only have one of those vacumn' from the manifold i have the one by the EGR valve the other one controls the fuel pressure and the other is the distributor advance. anyideas? Ed
  3. Yep you take it out and the two hoses just connect them to each other. i haven't decided if i should block the gastank vent line or leave it? for now it's unplugges has been for 2 years. and the little "watter bottle" looking thing has been removed as well.

Ok... so i thought i had it figured out till winter hit. i have a 78 280z. the carbon canister thing is gone, the A/C is gone.. well the compresor and condenser anyways, and the Egr valve isn't hooked up to my headers i have no heat and it is getting colder every day. does anybody have a diagramn? the stock manuals don't have any "clear" drawings of where exaclty they are supposed to be. this would help me alot. Ed

  6. Bad news... problem started again. I'm thinking it's might have to do w/ the advance mechanism because it started backfiring now. i'll check it out
  7. yeah well after you strip out the interior and put on some aluminuim alloys the 280's are pretty quick.. not to mention they have the added benefit of EFI.
  8. I think i'm in shock!!!! a 17 in the classic panasport style would be incredible!!! but a new style would be sweet as well! if you convinced him... would all discount tire stores be able to order them in for us? also.. the 16's are rather pricey from MSA what would be your price?
  9. What have you guys done about connectors though? my connectors for just about everything have seen there day. also what'd you do about the computer? did you splice and solder new? Ed
  10. ok... i got a new PCV valve.. but not positive as to where it is. i have a 78 280z. i'm assuming it's in the valve cover somewhere? does anybody know?

  12. OK i've had many posts for about 5 months on fixing my car. I think i finally fixed it today after replacing just about every sensor under the hood (guess it doesn't hurt anyways) my car used to run great for a week then crap the next, then it would limit the revs used to cut out then kick back on from 4k.. .then kept getn' worse over the months finally got to where i couldn't drive it over 2k. Put a new pickup coil in my distributor and WOW!!! what a difference.. after i took the old one out i could see it was scratched a bit. Hope this helps somebody. i know i would liked it 78 280z good luck
  13. i have the fan from MSA i think it's a piece of $hit! i hate it. and the temp module they included didn't work. Anybody know where i can get the temp on/ off switch from? preferably one you can screw into the radiator.. not the plastic sensor you slip inbetween the fins. thanx
  14. Yes.. i thinki should do that while i'm at it.. about to rewire the headlights on my 78 280z. But i'm puting in a 3 position pull out switch on the dash for the lights, (porsche style). and wire from a secondary power so that i can't leave my lights on !!! haven't taken apart the switch yet.. but do you know which wire is high beam and which one is low beam? could help me alot! thanx
  15. you guys got it all wrong. the second i got my catalog months ago i called them about their rims. they use about a 1.5" spacer i think 35mm is what they said. so it's easier to order the spacers from Ross Corrigan and finding some cheap honda wheels. the konigs don't bolt up to our 1st gen Z. sorry to burst the bubble guys
  16. I tried to buy some about two weeks ago from "Zheaven" was the seller on Ebay. Claims i never payed him. no go on lights. still want them though. Ed
  17. Wow.... somebody that actually lives near me. I've had a similar problem w/ mine expcet the needle would stick at 3k till the engine got to 5k then it would jump back up. did it all summer long, doesn't do it anymore though? good luck Ed (woodlands, TX)

  20. i had the same problem w/ my 78 280z. My cold start valve also was open all the time.. strange isn't it? I still have not replaced mine. Also i rebuilt my head... i bent up all my intakes due to timing issues but upon inspection.. the exhaust were starting to warp on their own. could be the black liquidy stuff out the exhaust.
  21. So in the future i'm prolly gonna convert over and save myself some hassle of 24 year old electronic technology. What engine managments systems are you guys using? or planing on?
  22. i have a similar problem but mine is at 4k same car 78 280z. mine has a CAI intake on it... could this be a problem maker? also bigbore throttle body and brand new afm
  23. OK so i found a company that can give me what i want i think the addy is www.accmats.com i'm geting some "Electric Blue" carpet, for my front seats it's gonna cost 134. kinda pricey.. but thas what you pay for custom right?
  24. so none of you guys have actually bought a name brand deadener? i wanna go crazy w/ this stuff driving my Z is too tiring... need to quite the inside.
