  1. Well, I'm on spring break this week, which really isn't a break at all since I'll be splitting my time between my job and working on the car, but I'm pretty excited. My gas tank came in yesterday, and my flywheel, intake manifold, and injectors should be coming in soon!
  2. Oh... so to switch from low to high impedance I would have to do...what, change the resistor(s)?
  3. So it's all a matter of choice then for the most part? cjames, I plan on mounting the tach and speedo in the stock locations, then boost, oil pressure, and water temp in the cluster, then fuel level, oil temp, and voltage will be mounted either where the heater controls used to be, or I will make a custom fusebox cover with the gauges in them.
  4. rudypoochris, I would first like to commend your efforts on putting this together; it's obviously cost you many an hour on the computer! I've only read the first three and last three pages, so is it still possible to get in on this? Did anyone figure out approx. what the wheels would weigh?
  5. I searched, I searched! I couldn't figure out exactly what type of gauges I need. I know I need 5" for the speedo and tach and 2 5/8" for the cluster, and I am leaning towards either Pro-comp or Ultra-lite, but I don't know if I need mechanical, liquid-filled mechanical, electric short sweep or electric full sweep for which gauges. I'll be running an L28ET in my '73 240Z. I want fuel level, oil pressure, water temp, oil temp, voltage, and boost, and maybe fuel pressure in addition to the tach and speedo
  6. '75-76 are different than the '77-78's, so you'd be good with the '78.
  7. What impedance are the stock L28ET injectors, they weren't listed on the sticky. I am thinking of running 295cc Supra injectors, the yellow kind. They are high impedance. I think the difference will be minimal, and I'll be able to run a fuel rail that can accept larger Denso injectors later
  8. Does anyone here run a Clutch Masters clutch who can give some feedback? I'm leaning towards the stage 3 or 4 for my L28ET w/ Z32 trans. I'll be running light mods to start but next year I will be adding quite a few mods, and I am shooting for over 400hp eventually. Also wouldn't mind feedback on Centerforce, Exedy, ACT, or any others.
  9. Well I ended up buying the Fidanza, got it for $300 shipped from a board member. I now need a clutch....leaning towards the Clutch Masters stage 3 or 4 but I'm interested in the Centerforce dual friction...does that come in 240mm?
  10. They make the E6X, I'm talking about an E6.
  11. I've heard that the E6 is quite outdated and no longer supported by Haltech. Is it worth it to buy one of these, and if so, what do you think a unit is worth? I'm going to look around and see if anyone local is familiar with tuning the unit to see if I could even get it tuned.
  12. wtf is a RRFPR? Is that an adjustable FPR? Can someone confirm that I just have to adjust the AFM teeth?
  13. I was browsing eBay and landed on this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CXRacing-Intercooler-Turbo-25x11x3-Mustang-Nissan-280Z_W0QQitemZ300205315314QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300205315314 What do you guys think? I like that the end tanks are on the same side but I'm not sure how I feel about the angle...
  14. So basically I'll be stuck with the stock injectors if I'm unable to modify the ECU currently. RX-7 FC injectors are top feed, sorry I didn't specify. What about Supra non-turbo or Z31 injectors? I'm just looking to get away from the barb-style injectors and fuel rail so that I can go for bigger injectors later without having to change the fuel rail, if possible.
  15. The valve cover came out nicely; I was gonna replace it but I think I'll keep it at least for now: The front is going to need a LOT more work:
  16. Hmm, alright I'll do some more research. I started degreasing the engine today. Look at the difference! Before: After: Before: After:
  17. Yes, I agree. My MR2 Turbo had a non-recirculating BOV and it was a mistake; I would autocross it and every time I'd lift off throttle and get right back on it again, the car would become very unsettled. Any idea if the GReddy RS is a recirculating type? I just happen to have one lying around
  18. Hey guys, I'm a bit new to the whole upgrading fuel injection area. I have an L28ET, which means I have 265cc injectors. I would like to upgrade to a Pallnet fuel rail but I don't want to keep the barb-style since I will be upping the power eventually and will want larger injectors in the future. My question is more about fuel injectors and flow in general. For example, if I were to drop in RX-7 550cc injectors, a Walbro 255lb/hr fuel pump, and an adjustable FPR without making any adjustments to the ECU, would the difference in size or impedance cause it to run differently or would the injectors essentially just run at a lower duty cycle? Any help would be appreciated; thanks!
  19. no, but many bolts are shared between the intake and exhaust manifolds, and they share the same gasket.
  20. Today I removed the intake manifold, fuel rail, and a/c compressor and bracket. I'd like to get the engine all cleaned up before the week is over, since my Z is coming home this friday. Here's some progress pics, and a pic of the fuel tank I bought:
  21. And I thought my $500 MR2 was a good deal. NICE FIND!
  22. Today was a day filled with good news! 240hoke is selling bellhousing adapters for the Z32 transmission to the L-series, and also has a lot of Z32 transmissions for sale so I can just buy a trans. from him and not worry about sourcing one myself and mailing the bellhousing back and forth! Also, I secured myself a '76 EFI fuel tank (from AZ so there's no RUST...holy crap!) and N42 non-EGR intake manifold. Bought a Fidanza lightweight flywheel today, too! I'm really pumped because thus far the biggest worry of mine was the fuel tank, because I've been searching and I didn't think I could find the right year tank so I figured I'd have to pay big bucks to get mine modified, but that has been lifted from my shoulders. Now my biggest worries are making sure my turbo is alright, taking care of the wiring (luckily I have a brother who's an electronics engineer), and getting the new fuel lines in.
  23. Ding ding ding ding ding! You get a cookie! Like, from the website you're browsing....get it? Yeah, my gifts suck I know... But wow spot on! I need to see what my options are for that turbo. If it's fixable I'll just do that and if not I'll probably look into the Z31 upgrade, in which case I'll probably try to use the Z31 ECU and....AFM is it?
