Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
MazterDizazter replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'm guessing they're American Racing wheels from the 80's - 14x7 They're for sale! (shameless plug) With 215/60/14 Cooper Cobras that stick to the road like a snake?? I wanna get Watanabe RS-8's but for the same money I could get the Wilwood 4 wheel disc brake upgrade and a set of the obligatory Sport Max 002's so I think I'll go with that instead -
I'm swapping an L28ET in my S30 this spring. I'm trying to make a decision on which muffler to go with; I'd also like to see some people's exhaust setups so I can show it to the custom exhaust shop I go to. I'm not too fond of the canister-style mufflers even though they're probably the most efficient. I guess I'll start it off:
-
I'm actually thinking of getting an I/C where the inlet and outlet are on the same side; less plumbing should translate to quicker response, right?
-
I just want to double check that the year is alright. I know people use NPR intercoolers, but for all I know they could be using I/C's from older year trucks.
-
Tried searching, came up with nothing, surprisingly. Anyhow, I'm looking online at a 2000 NPR intercooler, just wanna make sure it'll work in my S30.
-
I tried searching; is there a write-up for the MS-II installation on an L28ET?
-
Uhhh, forgive me for asking a stupid question, but which clutch/flywheel do you use, L-series or VG-series?

Special head lamps; any ideas?

Hehe, how much would you like for them? -

280Zforce, I'm actually not too fond of the ones you have on your car (to each his own, right?) I do however really like the one that is in the link I provided. If anyone knows anything about these, I could really use the help. Thanks! -
'78 280Z: N/A L28 - Best HP Increases W/O Turbo?
MazterDizazter replied to OR-JO's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
With the manifold, throttle linkage, and all necessary hardware, $600+shipping. Without the manifold, $500+shipping (I want to use the manifold with an Extrudabody ITB setup and plenum if/when they come out with them). -
Alrighty, thanks for the help guys. I haven't seen the original movie; I was referring to the anime. Mods can delete this thread if you need to clear up the space. Thanks!
-
Well I know it's doable, since HKS made a plenum for such a setup. Has anyone on here done it?
-
OK, so are there no other turbo plenums available? I just put up a thread asking about doing a carb'd turbo setup; now I feel like an ass.... Apparently it's doable!
-
So I've been thinking (dangerous idea I know) about doing a carbureted turbo setup. If anyone has seen or read Wangan Midnight they may know about the carbureted twin turbo L28 S30Z. Whether or not that was based off a real motor is beyond me, but it got me thinking: could I swap in an L28ET and use my current triple Weber carbs with a custom plenum? I'm sure tuning would be a friggin' nightmare, and the other concern is whether or not the carbs could handle the forced induction. I saw the custom ITB's on extrudabody.com but they cost as much as my Webers and I really don't have that kind of money. So, is it doable? In my head it sounds like it's probably a bad idea, but I figured I'd ask. I tried searching but didn't have any luck...

I might be selling my triple 40mm Webers soon if you're interested. They will need to be cleaned/rebuilt. I'm probably going turbo very soon; although I'm going to miss the throaty roar of those Webers....best sound EVER!!! -
Lights/guages dim and no turn signals?
MazterDizazter replied to MazterDizazter's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Honestly I don't know exactly how it happened; I assume because the timing was off and one of the carbs was out of synch, and from all the cranking of the engine trying to get it to start might've caused a lot of fuel buildup...so when I finally got it started, one of the air filters went up in flames, scaring the absolute pee pee out of me and my brother. Don't try this at home kiddies! Especially not parked next to your home with your brother's car parked next to yours! -
I came across these babies; I'm sure some of you have seen them before: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1017347147&context=set-72157601230766572&size=l Just wondering if anyone knew where I could get some...

MazterDizazter replied to MazterDizazter's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
It was the battery; soon all the guages and lights stopped working, and it died in my driveway. Replaced the battery, worked fine (except for the air filter catching on fire, but that's a story for another time). -
Who Daily Drives their s30
MazterDizazter replied to MONZTER's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I didn't plan on driving my '73 Z every day but since my '87 MR2 crapped the bed, and I replaced it with another '87 MR2 which keeps breaking (detecting a pattern here?) I've driven it every day since purchasing it this past August. It has about 10 solid things wrong with it (signals a little wonky, needs a timing chain/tensioner, leaks/burns oil, leaks/burns coolant, keeps getting flat tires) but it starts every day and gets me to school and work no problem. I hate driving it daily though; I'm not gonna lie. It always smells like exhaust, leaks like crazy when it rains, the drivetrain is rough, it goes through gas like nobody's business (partially due to it needing a timing chain and partially due to the triple Webers), and I'd rather have something comfy with power options (like an E30 BMW hahaha) to be my daily considering I've owned nothing but harsh two-seaters for the past 4 years. If I had my way I'd only take it out on sunny weekends, thrash it on an occasional auto-x or road course, and cruise the beach -
I was driving my '73 Z today and I noticed the signals weren't blinking as quickly as normal. Then, tonight when I was driving it, the signals didn't hardly work at all, and the guages and lights seemed very dim compared to normal. The lights didn't dim when I stepped on the brakes or turned the stereo on and off, which would obviously point to a bad ground. Any ideas? I kinda drive my Z every day so I need to fix it fast!
-
Is it possible to switch out the annoying stock belts with belts from a newer Z? I'm about ready to rip the damn things out of my car and install harnesses at this point!!!
-
Looks sweet! Just swap out that lamo-matic for a T-56 6 speed and you'll be golden!
-
I think this is one of those things that I'll have to go see it for myself. I'll take down that transmission code and see if it's similar. Does anyone have a picture of the transmission by itself, like sitting on the ground or anything?
-
Alright, so I was poking through the Want Ad and saw a 350Z trans for sale for $400. Can't beat that. Has anyone sucessfully mated one of these transmissions to an L series engine? If so, what was required? Also, the seller swears that it is a 5 speed manual from a 2004 Z, that he was looking straight at it in his garage. Now I am 99.9% sure that they only came with 6spd manuals and 5spd autos, so can someone clarify that? I may just have to go have a look for myself. If it for some strange reason is a Z32 transmission, would that be able to be mated to an L series engine?

Just bought this week, finally got a Z after 3 years of searching!!! 1973 240Z 4spd 168k - Triple Webers, Koni dampers, neoprene bushings, MSA header, 2.25" exhaust, electric fan
