  1. Did you get my email from your ad? I have a stock 240z auto shifter that`s set up for a chevy trans, auto shifter indicator and 240z console but since im at work right now im not sure what condition it`s in. what`s your email address and i`ll send some pics in the morning. Mark
  2. Thanks Tim I didn`t think of that maybe concrete is the only way I can go. I admit I know nothing about constrution and looking back I did this project backasswards. The reason I went with a polebarn instead of footers was so I could still keep my tree. Trenching footers would have killed a good portion of the roots and eventualy the tree it self. As far as cost concrete itself it`s very expensive. A neighbour across the street did a small concrete project...He replaced his sidewalk about 6 sqs and it cost him $900...I`m guessing it would cost me $4000 for what I need. Mark
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would like an opinion on an alternitive to a concrete floor. But first let me give you some background as to why. I built a polebarn garage 24x26 last year with the intention to install a concrete floor at a later date when the gravel had time to settle. The garage is intended for working on my cars and had planned on installing a lift. My problem, last year we had alot of rain through out the year and this year seems to be the same. My yard has a natural spring and needless to say I have a high water table. And though I don`t have any visable water problems in my yard, my neighbors do. I think if I lay concrete now or later it would crack and would be an expensive mistake. The garage is being used for storage right now and has no water problems. It`s about 5" above grade and is filled with crush & run and also 1/2",3/4' Gravel. I need a floor that will safely support the weight of a car on jackstands and since I wouldn`t be able to install a two post lift I would like to use a portable lift. The weight I would need supported in a concentrated area on the high side 5000lbs (Datsun 240z 2600lbs, 68 nova 3400lbs, S10 truck 3000lbs.) My idea is to level out the gravel and build a welded sqaure tube support grid. Put flat concrete block in the squares of the flooring grid and weld 3' x 10' flat 11ga steel sheets (150 lbs ea.) over top to finish the floor. This is of course just an idea and if it doesn`t fit my need safely then it won`t be built. Thanks, Mark
  4. I looked into one about a yr 1/2 ago when I thought about putting my sbc set up into my other nicer Z. It was very hard to find any info on them!! A well known name from the 60`s still makes them (can`t remember the name right now) I decided against getting one becaulse there`s alot of precise mesurements you have to check and create and the price was very high $425.00 and the oil pump shaft unit was 75.00 extra. The Ebay one might be worth a try if the price stays down enough. I then looked into Electromotive crank triger and coil packs system for $700.00 Didn`t buy either one. Mark

  6. you can put the brake booster hose directly to the carb PVC port. my is a "race carb" that has no vacuum ports so I had to drill and tap one in my manifold. As far as your oil sender you could probalbly use a pipe extention and a t fittingand put your sender on an angle between the valve cover and dist. Mark
  7. FORGET ALL THAT OTHER CRAP.....this is what you need!!! http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm I have one and it works great just a push of the button and 3-4 seconds later it`s fully open. It`s custom made to your car so it takes about 2wks to get. But well worth it. I have the 3" one but they make them for other sizes as well....110.00 for one or 210.00 for two and it`s wired so that both open at the same time and speed. Oh yeah It`s also quiet when shut..no leaking!!!! Mark
  8. acually my CV shaft turned out to be fine, it was my center carrier pin that broke. Looking back I think it broke during the burnout with slicks. I talked to a guy in town here thats been running V8 turbo 280zx`s for years and he tells me he used to spit out the spider gears from doing the burnouts. Now he just drives up to the line with no burn out and hasn`t had a problem since. Mark
  9. Well tore into it today...The CV was fine, it was the carrier center pin that broke. So out with the 3:90 rear and in with the 3:54. Im thinking the 3:54`s will kill some bottom end and help quite a bit on top end thus finally putting me into the 11`s with a stock 400ci I really wish it was a bad CV joint since I just bought 4 pairs....you know just in case of future abuse with the slicks Looks like i`ll have to aquire a few more rears as well. Mark
  10. Hey John,SBZ My best 60' is a 1.7 but mostly im in the 1.8`s....when the CV broke it was a 1.9 Your right John I do have Ross`s 280zxt conversion set up. I`ve thought about his 300z setup but my current one is only a year old so i`d like to get my money out of it, for right now anyway. Im hoping I could buy just a single CV joint (I haven`t checked it out yet but I believe it`s the outer one) rather than trying to find another shaft. Mark
  11. Well the 11`s seem to elude me at every turn. Last month`s T&T the fuelpump takes a dump..Launch out of the hole at 6 psi and cross the traps at 3 psi...result best of 12.2 @ 111 so install new fuelpump, 1/2" line, regulator...Bla,bla, bla... Today`s T&T with everything the same tuning as the month before, result is the basicly the same 12.3 @111...Was babying it some becaulse I had to rig...er adjust the throttle cable to get full throttle that I thought for sure there would have been an improvment...oh well on to run #2. Plugs alittle lean. Up the jetting from 78 to 80`s all around..re-set carb, timimg was off, bumped back up to 35 deg overall..felt strong real strong...11`s for sure or so I thought.... Time for run #2...ran my cousin in his mercery comet he tells me he going to heat the slick good this time!...So I got the brain storm to do the same after all can`t let a FORD show me up!!! So I smoked them a little longer than I usually do...The slicks didn`t feel as stable as they usually do but nothing out of the ordinary...Stalled it up and let`er rip!! ...felt good and strong... real strong, pinning me back and the front end pointing skyward. This has to be 11`s or so I thought...So slowing down I hear.. thud, thud, thud from the right rear and go to make my turn onto the return road Bang, bang jerk,jerk...12.4 @ 112....DOH Well I think it`s a broken CV joint.. has anyone had any luck with after market cv joints for the 280zxt shafts and if so where did you get one. Mark
  12. Why???.....Becaulse it`s there No acually a friend at work has a 95 Eclipse that`s just sick!!! It pulls ever bit as hard as my datsun on LOW boost and if he was ever able to hook up it would be easy 11`s and the kicker is his motor is bone stock. At the time I drove it he have a front mount with a 16g turbo. Now he upgraded to the Big 16g turbo his top end is just Sick,sick,sick.. bone stock motor..Sick. And im burned out with the tradition hotrodding and want to learn something different and current. Which I might add is how this datsun kick got started Im running a r200 W/3.90 and 280zxt shafts. I also have a r200 W/3.56 that will prob. be better for the turbo setup. I think the rear will be just fine. The way my car is setup, rear breakage won`t be an issue at the track. Because my best times were walking it out on drag radials and launching that way there`s no load on the rear. My best 60' is 1.7 with the majority being 1.8`s. I have slicks but haven`t been able to try them yet. I should also mention that stalling it up and hammering it out of the hole netted the same results even a little slower. Mark
  13. Your right they will!!! 8) The thing will definetly be a tourqe monster. Although im only planning to run about 6 or 7 psi because of my 9.5 compression. Im also planning, though maybe not right off the bat using the matching intercoolers for the turbos. I have one just need to get another. Im not looking for huge power but more of an understanding of the system. The car already runs 12.2 @ 111 in the 1/4 with a basicly stock 400ci. It has 11`s in it easy with some more tuning but i`ll back that statment up next month when the track opens up! Mark
  14. Hanns, well long story short I wanted to use a real nice pair of 1.75 primary custom turbo headers I bought off ebay. I thought they would work, but when I was able to physicly match them with the car they turned out to be too wide and interfered with the strut towers. I was going to try and make an adapter until I found out how much header flanges were (I would have needed two sets). But even if I did make the adapters the tubes would have been too close to everything anyway. So im going to do something like you did. I haven`t decided if im going to use 2.5 or 3" square tubing. Probably 3" Because I don`t have the same concerns as you did about the engine compartment paint. Oh very nice car by the way I was very impressed!!! Im using DSM Garret T25`s off of the 2nd gen Eclipse. Too start out with then upgrade from there. They flow 350CFM apeice =700CFM combined and according to a Grandnational site mathmatical formula I need 685Cfm for my 400sbc. Mark
  15. Im in the prosses of getting everything together for my TT sbc project I plan to start in april. Just need little odds and end and im good to go. Mark
  16. im knocking on 11`s with a mostly stock 400 (12.2 @111 mph) with some tuning left. std. bore, flattops, stock heads #882 , Lt1 cam (.460 lift), 1.6 rockerarms, 830 dp carb Mark
  17. has anyone been able to remove a stuck r200 stub axle. I believe the snap ring is holding everything up. Mark
  18. 73 240z 400 sb std bore, stock #882 heads, flattop pistons,LT1 cam (.460 lift) w 1.6 rockers,830 holley db, victor jr intake,stock HEI, turbo350 w loose 12"convert (2200stall), r200 3.90 w280zxt shafts, 2 1/2 y into single 2 1/2 into 1 flowmaster 3" muffler w/3" Electric cutout. best 1/4 12.2 @111 on drag radials...leaning out on topend this year easy 11`s if I remember to bring the jets this time!!!! Mark

    Which movie?

GUMBALL RALLY .....real time car engine sounds and a real 427 cobra and farrari going at ....Oh and Linda Vaughn bouncing in the end!!
  20. I tried it a few years ago and it does work for normal driving but it hurts WOT performance so I took it out. Mark
  21. I thought about the JC type but they`ve been around forever and everyone complaines that they don`t seal well in the closed position. Also they only fit pipes up to 2 1/4". The Mccord cutout fits up to 2 1/2 and 3" and seals very well closed. Mark
  22. It`s on my SBC car. I have a 12"x 3"extention running off the bottom elbow of the S pipe. My exhaust is pretty restrictive it`s 2 1/2 into a single 2 1/2 into a 3" flowmaster. It gives me about 4 tenths in the 1/4 . It`s perfect for the track but not so perfect for the street, the fumes come right in the car at steady speeds . But when closed it`s quiet no leaking (they suggest using red silicone with the header gasket) and when open it`s loud unmuffled, obnxous, testosterone driven exhaust . Mark
  23. I have one one my car and it works great! opens with a push of a button. custom made for your car and the price is very reasonable. comes in 2 1/2 or 3" I can`t believe the word isn`t out about these. It`s a nice unit. Mark http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm
  24. do we have any? Mark
