  2. found a good deal locally for a mallory 140gph with some 1/2" hose. is there any negative to running a 140gph with 1/2 tubing for a very mild build? i know it would be overkill and too much fuel. but would it be trouble to tune? i dont mind it being overkill now so later when i upgrade the motor the fuel part is done atleast.
  3. offtopic what you said a chevy mechanical pump. just out of curiousity what makes a chevy pumps different from a ford pump?
  4. so the pump will be placed close to the tank and as low as possible. then do i place the filter right after the pump? or in the engine bay? and then carb and then return line. how far away from the carn should i put that return style regulator? ALSO for the 110gph version it said no regulator is required so what is the gain for adding one?

Curious on what everybody is running on their carb combo. this will be on a 302 small block with 600cfm edelbrock carb/intake/etc. i plan on running around 360whp/wtq this will be on a an early 260z. i have look at pumps and looking for a cheap one really that can handle the power and found this. 72gph Carter p4070 curious if it would handle it. any sudgestion thats under $100? also since its only low ho i believe the stock fuel lines can handle this? or will i need to upgrade to 3/8 feed and 3/8 return? can i plug off the vapor line thing? and do i need the vapor tank that sits on the passenger side quarter panel?
  6. ya i know its only like 99 the last time i check. BTW for those who have this swap what headers are you guys using? i think so far shorty 302 headers seems to be the best option. but is there any others that wont require moding?
  7. ya but the that i found is front sump. plus i really want to put the engine back and cut the firewall if its no more than let say 2 inch? and i though so. i knew the carb had this fuel tank thing in them but wasnt sure if you still need one on top of that. so with that said i can use my stock tank with fresh filter and new low pressure pump right?
  8. question about the 1970 351w with mustang 1992 5.0 t5 tranny. all mounts are custom made. 1. from my understanding the 351w are front sump. BUT how much does it interfere with the crossmember? would it be possible to just move back the engine? any pics? -i was thinking of cuting the firewall a bit to fit it so i wont have to swap pans and pick up and such plus it would put the engine closer to center of gravity. but if its too much then i wont cut it. 2. what about flywheel? i have read that it has to be 157tooth with 28 oz and 10.5" would any new flywheel that meets those spec work? or would i have to strickly have to source out stock flywheel? 3. what clutch would you guys recoment for a combo that can handle no more than 400wtq? i dont plan to exceed that till way later. 4. what carb would you guys recomend for around 400whp/wtq application? 600cfm or 650 cfm or 750cfm? i plan on using edelbrock b/c its well cheap and decent lol. it will be match up with victor jr. intake. and do carb engine needs a surge tank? i plan on installing this on my 75 280z. how will it route the fuel line? i have 3 fuel lines in my car. so 1 feed the other return but then how do i hook up the last one? thanks
  9. cool i thought it was since i wouldnt find any info that said it wasnt. i been searching this 5.0 swap and was kind of hitting the ditch. i look at the old post. and the pics are all gone. was curious about Z8 swap. he uses a 289? i believe. would it be the same motor mount as the 302? i reread his write up and was curious about the wiring involve on an EFI. his was carb but i cant seem to find any write up on a EFI wiring. any clues? and if i carb the 5.0 HO(from 87-93) what wiring will i still need? btw what headers are you using? im searching for a header that doesnt interfere with the steering.
  10. i check that and reread it. unless it miss something but wiki doesnt even mention HO. it just said that 87-93 was iether 2.4l or 4.9l

  12. hi i been looking for this info on the net and on the site. how can i tell that a 302 is HO? (physical) and do all mustang "fox body" came with HO v8?
  13. ive read that the new rules is motor swap must be from the same family ae:nissan to nissan toyota to toyota and that if its originaly a l6 then swap must be a l6? so that means a ls1 with all smog equip in a 260z(74) cannot be legalize? just curious since i was thinking of going stock ls1 and getting it Legalized and get a stamp.
  14. doesnt matter if its pre 75 or not. they will give you a fix it. and a stockish looking bov will help. the less VISIBLE mods you have the less chances you got of getting a fix it. smog isnt an issue i pay $130 for one no questions ask.
  15. yes i do understand what your saying. thats why i like to keep it as low profile as possible. and reguarding exhuast-i plan to run an electric cutout close when cruising and open when i want it. mk3 intercooler sucks ass IMO i have run them in my mk3 and cheap ebay IC beats them easy.(to much heat soak.) and i was under the impression that when you spray an IC it wont be as effecient in cooling? and lastly water to air IC is nice but weights more than air to air.
  16. sorry poor choice of words. when i say glow i mean it attracts attention. iether way im really trying not to use one. and curious what about the hy35 turbo? at 15psi with meth? and im looking for around 350whp as started wwhat power will the hy35 yield at 15 psi with supporting mods? ae:fuel/ms/intake/exhuast etc. and with the hy35 do you guys think i would be losing some hp since it wont be intercooled? if so about how much do you guys think?
  17. not true a l28et with a shave valve cover coulbe be pass as stock. but cops here LOOK for IC intake the basic stuff. most cops wont know since it say nissan and stuff. as long as theres nothing flashy. and IC yes you can see since it glows
  18. side view yes but upfront no. all the ic ive had has always stuck out in the front bumper. b/c of the fact that its aluminum compared to anything else. and its hard to get away with a big ic when a cop inspect the car. yes cops here in cali do inspect under the hood. mu other option was water to air inter. but that weights more than air to air.
  19. hi so lately im been thinking of what combo i can put on my other 240z to make it more stealthy. so it will be l28et with hy35 turbo. i was curious can this be run at 15psi without intercooler with meth injection? and would that make it to 350whp?(on ms system) im trying to avoid adding a flashy intercooler. and trying to shave some weight as well
  20. i thought the stock ecu cant handle 350-400whp? thats why i wanted to go with ms. and if i like how this engine runs then meth inj. is on top of the list thanks for clearing up this issue.
  21. http://datsunzgarage.com/heads/ and i have read somewhere that the piston was made of a weaker material thats why i didnt want to get it. but if its the same cool thanks. and i want to do a stock swap with ms just to see if this engine is something i want. if i like it then i will build one to replace the block. if not then i spend less money. so if it blows at the power level i want then it blows. they seem to be preaty cheap just for the block. and im trying to stay away from meth inj. less stuff to add to the car the better. when im set on what engine i want then ill mod accordingly.
  22. ^^ you didnt mention the pistons? wich was what i had originally mentioned. if everything is the same then that would be good new but why dont people run the same amount of boost on the n/a block? maybe i missread what people are saying.
  23. i work on supra motors alot and yes new to l28. so what your telling me is that i can boost an n/a engine just as much as a turbo block? not true with the 7m. stock turbo block can hold boost with no problem at 20+ psi and n/a 7m try that and see what happens(even with lower comp). maybe i was wrong to assume that the l28 is the same? i assume that since it was an n/a, compression was higher so ofcource it would make more power at the same boost but the internals cant handle as much power. plus comp could be a problem but maybe not on the l28 and if im understanding you correctly a n/a l28e stock can handle the same AMOUNT of power/boost that a stock l28et can? then why is it that people dont run as much pressure on there turbo convertion compare to the stock turbo block? and from what ive read the turbo head(p90) is the best flowing head. so why would i want a p79 when i can get a p90? and through my reading on the this forums people where advice no not run as much boost on an n/a blcok. was i reading that wrong? are you telling me that a n/a block can run as high of a boost that a turbo block can? NOTE as i said i would like to BOLT this on WITHOUT any work on the block so THAT MEANS EVERYTHING STOCK. NO CHANGES. with that in mind are you still saying that i can run a stock n/a block to the same power(350-400whp) and be able to withstand the same amount of boost? "400+ hp tend to use flat top pistons anyways (similar to the NA engines)" forged pistons right? different material so that doesnt really justify it. unles your saying for 400hp+ people tend to use the stock flat top pistons lol.
  24. well its bulky but i dont think its a 280z bumper. well wich one has the signal on the grill? and wich one has the signal on the corner of the bumper? mine has the front signal at the corner of the bumpers. EDIT: i just check the date on the driver side tag. it said 10/73 but wouldnt that make it a 240z since its 73? and why does it say it weight like 3000 on that same tag?
