  1. I Still want to know if it`s ok to assemble V3 w/o testing every stage.,..tired of all the c`s and r`s and...whatever!! on My desk.

  3. Ok, saw the RS thing. I have suction..the only question I have is-how much heat can I apply?
  4. I tried to do this thing by laying down the soldering iron horizontally across each side, waiting, and then pulling up.I`m trying to find a way to solve this problem.How does the solder wick work?
  5. So, Jeffers..are You telling Me I can`t hurt the thing by excessive heat? Thanks! What is solder wick?..use 22 g copper stranded wire?, tryed suction.
  6. Also ,there was the question about the V3 board and delaying programming until total assemby.
  7. I just want to know if there is a way of releasing it from the board..with all the contacts (16)--without damage! If not I`ll just get another one.
  8. It may be not called an "ecu",but it is the control module as explained above. Under the on /off switch w/ 16 contacts to the board.
  9. NO..I soldered the 16 pin control unit backwords---I`m screwed. Just wondering if there is a way out of My Hell--everything else checked out.
  10. The stim first! The rest..just wanting to know if I can go through the assembly process without checking every stage. In other words, can I program it later?
  11. I screwed up and did it backwords--too much distractions!
  12. It`s the unit underneath the 6 pin and the power switch..on the right hand side(with the pots on the bottom).
  13. And there is a lot of close soldering on the V3!!
  14. Hi, Anyway of reversing this? Thot of prying the thing. I screwed up and put the dots to the inside--didn`t see the U... Family reunion happening!!!.I could just get a premade one. It was a good way of relearning soldering!I`m afraid of putting too much heat to the unit. Also, can You program V3 after assembly, or do you have to go in steps-as per the MS instructions during assembly? We are getting broadband here in two weeks..so the downloads won`t be as long.....still waiting!! Thanks, Roger:confused:
  15. "The other one" turns out to the top gear switch The "other one" turns out to be the top gear switch ,whatever that does..any ideas.
  16. I would search for a 280zxlet to start with. Got mine for 1K with shipping. But it`s made for this with the cam,the better head, sensors, manifold,etc. The Holsets, which can bolt up to the exhaust manifold..with a 7/16 drill out are available used on EBAY for an reasonable price.I got Mine for 335$ w/shipping. Then go to DIY and get a Megasquirt ll..and the other stuff you`ll need...relay board,stimulator, connecting cords,and go to RS motorsports for the harness. If You want to go wideband o2 go to Modern Automotive Performance. You can make it work with what You`ve got..but this seems easier to Me. I`ve got a 76 280z 2+2. Have Fun, Roger
  17. And, speaking of "such" what is the other solenoid for? I remember getting rather cold..freezing!!.. when the one toward the cabin didn`t work. Turned out to be a bad ground.
  18. I have watched this thing for over a year and have seen fairly bare passenger side fender under hood stuff. What are You guys doing with the vacuum control solenoids(for the heater and such)with the vacuum bottle...and the gas tank venting?
  19. Looks like the same valve cover filter available at CKS will work here too.
  20. Also, You can shove the 1 1/4 hose from the BOV in the center--staight at the turbine.
  21. So ,I will go to the internal part of the SPECTER air filter, which happens to be an almost 1 1/4" (or close ) straight shot to the turbine. Now, I need to find a 1 1/4" tube!
