  1. Junior Johnson...YES ,THAT JUNIOR JOHNSON!! Said ,You don`t need forged unless You`re running 500HP+. I have a street stocker 400+ cast. Don`t waste money!!
  2. Hi! Putting new head gasket on this engine..I noticed the cam gear and chain markings were off one link in the retard mode. I have checked three different manuals..and they are straight up. Have seen some discussions on adjustable cam timing--but, think I will go staight here..and go now for the ordeal of pulling the front cover and making sure the bottom gear is properly lined up. It`s out of the car..so, no big deal. Otherwise, the 95k engine is very clean with a little coking in the oil pan and some carbon build up in the upper end---a small amount of Marvel Mystery oil took care of that.Any ideas on this? Thanks Again, Roger
  3. There was no shrouding on the the gate...SO...We have a difference between the hw35y, hx35w and the he351cw. Anybody, please respond. I have nothing to remove!! (Just go to the t3 actuater dual imput.. in My case) and get on with it. It would help others if this is resolved. Anybody else have a reflection on the differences between the 3 units? Again, there is little difference between the puck and the hole--2mm. Thanks,Roger...no BIG deal, but just wondering.
  4. Hey Jeffer949! Is Your Holset the j band exhaust version? What year Dodge did it come out of? Thanks, Roger (I`m trying to square the porting the waistgate hole thing with My Hy35w 02--which has no need for it). I have no shrouding, yet everybody here seems the need to grind-or bore. At a 2mm seat..I ain`t going there.
  5. Coolhand, On pigtail: red is vref, beige is control, and black(as usual) is ground for MS.
  6. I finally realized that this is the old dual point distributor present on the muscle cars in the 60`s and 70`s--only in a different form.Like I have on My 340cid swap 66 Dodge van. Like DUHH--only a new way of doing it!
  7. Go to the Megasquirt website to get the schematics for what goes where. It`s specific.
  8. On the other hand ,Challenger. Are You talking about the colder climate we both live in? I was planning on driving My Z spring to fall. I have a Suburu for winter. But, others may want to go the full calendar in this climate. Have done the Z stock for 28 yrs here full calendar. CoolHand lives near San Diego so the cold start is irrelevant to Him. Arizona Z for the spacer ( Pallnet maybe , but they are always out of them) EBAY for the thang--got mine for 26 bucks w/shipping not too long ago. Thanks, Roger
  9. To clarify, it has a variable resistor as opposed to the other connector-on off. Check other threads on this. There are a lot of EE`s on this site who know their stuff. But, I think the above is right. I`ve checked the ohms out and it synchs.
  10. Whaat!!, I thought cold start was irrelevant with MSII-0r MS1. I just got Mine off of EBAY CoolHand. 60mm whatever year. Hope this helps.
  11. The 8# hammer worked! Had to cut off a nail set to the quick to do it--the proper punch! Turned out it was rust build up. A little clean up with emory cloth and WD 40 did the trick. Then,I did a JB weld on the bracket. Apparently, a lot of the confusion ( on My part) is due to the existence of several different models of the hw35y. The early ones are non vband exhaust models( Mine is an 02) and the later V band models. The early ones didn`t have shrouding around the wastegate..and the later ones did?
  12. Hi Guys. This will probably be of absolutely no use to You. But, just for the heck of it..Summit has a 3" Dodge downpipe for 100$--but it`s for an 02 hw35y. I have a 02 2500,3500 model. Everybody talks about a vband, but I have a bolted elbow model(with a 2 bolt connection to the downpipe). When did they change to the v? Summit probably has that one too. This discrepancy may explain the puck hole thing--there is no shrouding to remove on the model I have.
  13. On futher reflection.. I think Mine has been "done" already. It`s in good shape... 95K with no play. I`ll consider Myself lucky...as long as I can get the shaft out!! And it`s getting close. An 8 # hammer ought to do it!! Thanks again, Roger
  14. Datman, What is the difference between the puck diameter and the opening? Your visuals are different than Mine. I have a 2mm seat. That`s why I was asking the question. Maybe, Mine has been done already?!?! unlikely..but. I mean 2 mm is pretty small! That`s why I was concerned about this. Thanks for Your help. Roger
  15. Hi! just wanted to know if this is true. Oops !Hy35w.
  16. So..How do You think about the porting thing? I think its overdone, based on visual inspection. There isn`t much area between the puck and the port to remove. Getting away from your total interest in exterior wastegates, what do You think?
  17. With shipping! Supra 440`s ahead at some date--but doing the ms2 and wideband o2 will take some time. I`m a newbie! What can I say!
  18. Hey thanks Z Force! Just starting on this trip. So a little bit conservative. And they are cheap!! I got it for 335.00 on ebay. Any response on the porting thing?
  19. By the way, why is porting out the wastegate hole such a big deal? It`s only an 1/8 of an inch max! Is this an urban myth? I think the actuater has more control. Just My 2 cents.
  20. Hey, nice job guys! However, I think I will still go for the internal. Others have gone to 20 with this setup( the Dothian `Bama dude Gearheadstik for example)..cost being somewhat of a push and compactness.. The only question is how to relieve the stiffness. Soo..I think I will grind off the bracket, straighten the shaft -thanks Datman!-reweld and proceed. Am only going to 12psi max--265cc injectors at this point. Hell, 260hp is good to Me after maybe 140 (real) with My 76 2+2. And that was awesome after changing over from a 289 Mustang(My exwife got it same year). Not trying to kill Hondas, but based on what I`ve seen around town I could.
  21. The oil inlet line appears to be 12mm. Autometer has that.
  22. Check other outlets for the T3. Don`t remember where --check ebay..just found it! Go to ebay enter Your request! Autometer has all the possible combinations. Good Luck! T3 flange!
  23. Don`t know for sure, t3 flange on the drain side and check autometer on line for the inlet. I have an hy35w for My Z. Autometer has a bunch of adapters. I`ve found all I want.
