  1. I should have said "output" rather than input.
  2. I just stuck in a 280zx turbo engine with a HY35w about 2 hours ago (into a 76 2+2).The Holset is out of an 02 Dodge 2500 pickup. The exhaust manifold outlet is impossible without rerouting the air conditioner lines and a big alteration on the firewall bodywork. I am going to to cut the outlet rotate it and reweld it...or use an ABS stainless steel adapter (waste plumbing stuff) with mucho RTB or stove cement. Obviously the design changed after 02 and thereafter now we have a v band rotational thing on the outlet. The intake is so close to the shock tower that I will either have to go inside the wheel well with the intercooler piping or whack off some of the input. But, that`s part of the fun of it...adapting to unexpected realities. Get a post 02 if You can! Otherwise it is a cheap way to do it--got Mine for 335w/shipping. Enjoy, Roger
  3. Others have done a 1/2" spacer for this. But, this took care of the problem.
  4. Jeffer949 if it works for You that`s cool. How long have You been running it? I certainly like the price!
  5. Sorry about that. Saw the joke later! I`ll go back on this thread and research a little more. I saw a system last year doing this and just was not satisfied with what I saw on ebay.
  6. Hey jeffer949, I`m 60 and bought My 76 2+2 new. Don`t give Me bad stuff---just want information!! I don`t think in any way I have been not been truthful and accurate. I think that`s what it`s all about
  7. Had another problem with assembly with the engine. The turbo would not mate. Had to grind 1/8"+ off the exhaust manifold and 1/8" off the turbo to make it fit. Also, when fitting the bolts the lower back nut did not fit.I tried (stupidly) to grind it down to 9/16 size. It did work...but, I decided to pull it off and grind the housing instead.....YESS. The nut clears.I used an aluminum H chanel to secure the T3 dual wastegate actuater to the turbo intake with screws on the flange and JB weld for security.
  8. Also, (and i`m a tad confused!) and thanks for the above help. Where do I get the fitting that goes between the air filter and intake? Is it custom? Wizard Black
  9. jeffer949, Thanks for the ebay info...but, only 11 bucks. Hard to believe!! Are You running it on Your machine? Sorry about My lack of proper description. Hell, blame it on My age.
  10. I want to know what your outlet diameter is so I can throw it into the input of the turbo---assuming 1/4 inch. What BOV do You have. I can do 1/4 inch vacuum tube for this. Thanks, Roger
  11. Hey Challenger, I`m trying to find a 1/4 " output (greddy type --I guess or others). I understand that the BOV goes before the inlet of the air regulater. Am trying to get a model that has an output that I can feed to the input of the turbo to keep the good times going--in other words-keep spinning the SOB!!
  12. Hi Wizard Black Thanks, I was trying to get away from the hornblowers and go to the tubes. I realize some are going for the noise--over performance. So, that is why I asked. I appreciate Your response. Roger..any ones You could recommend on EBAY??
  13. Ran an air compressor check on it.....allright!
  14. And thus eliminating the play between puck and lever arm..mostly
  15. Any 1/4" npt pipe will work for the extension.
  16. Thanks for that, but for 40 bucks you got it. I have to say, I was a tad bit off specifics.First,7/16 drill into oil inlet, then 1/2" x 20 tap. 1/4 "nc x 1/8"npt female adapter then 5/16 bit to T3 bottom and 3/8 x24 tap to complete with a 1/4 to1/4 nps male adapter. The drills are not totally right to the taps(as they say on the cardboard), but they work.We are trying to adapt a T3 oil line to a Holset off a LET. This block adapter (above) works. The only problem I`m facing now is a shortness in the oil line, which the above mentioned grease gun tube will fix, along with a 1/4x1/4 npt female adapter...or a totally rotating fem adapter. This seems complicated, but its really easy and cheap.
  17. Had a buddy tig weld it. The play between the lever and the puck(causing interference --and thus total closing--was taken care of by center punching the waistgate puck and arm in several locations.
  18. Hi Guys, Using the above ebay thing, I got out of the output at the block, but was having problems connecting with the input of the hy35. Today I drilled out the input to the bearings with a 7/16 bit and threaded with a 1/2" 20. The 1/4 inch to 1/8 adapter works(nps). Then, I drilled the T3 flange with a 5/16 bit from the bottom and threaded with a 1/8" tap. Whacked off the flange, flushed oil using a steel brush and copious amounts of oil. The problem now is the shortness of the line. I found a leftover from a discarded grease gun input in My toolbox. That may do it. It is 1/8" npt.
  19. Leave the original cam in the head. Don`t change it, they are good for 350+. See other threads here. Na is different than turbocharged for obvious reasons.
  20. Is there a way of making this easier?? The input side is good, but the entry into the turbo oil feed is an mm off. I have come to the conclusion that Holsets are not metric, but what expains the discrepancy? The bolts are 7/16 on the exhaust!!
  21. yeah, You have an internal voltage reg on the 78 L6 alt. Earlier models had an external. Check as above. Good luck, Roger
