ive never taken a stop sign, that i think is wrong. this past winter i got really drunk with some girls during a snow storm and we went sledding around campus, i stole one of those big orange cylinders and rolled down a hill in it in the snow in a tshirt and jeans hahahah, best of times.
-
hehehehe, have any of you seen the 14 foot banners they have out of the 350z? guess whos got one of those
-
hmm i like the way you think, ill get to work on that right away

hahahaha one was already dead via range rover and i just happened to not be able to avoid getting air off of it as it went under my car (good way to learn not to follow to closely) one i hit at like 20 miles an hour and it actualy just ran its head into my headlight then wrapped around into my fender and pushed it back into the door. and the last one i hit on the highway at 65 mph because they were mowing the center section of the highway, i had just pulled out to pass a semi and wham thing jumped from the edge of the road hit my grille in full stride turned my hood into my windscreen the top of my rad ended up on my intake manifold and the bottom under my oil pain the deer went up and cleared the other lane to might right and landed on the side of the road missing a leg or two, ive had so much bad luck with cars, that if anything insanely bad happens to the Z again im giving up on cars all together, (well probably not but the parents my try and convince me to) have a good day all - pete

independant racing wheel Phone: 860 274 4444 http://www.irwheel.com saw one of their booths at a swapmeet the guy was giving me general quotes but he said around 55 never more then 75 a wheel
-
alright since thats been decided.. what should i be getting? Ross C's coilover setup? and what should i run for wheels, i dont want to spend alot of money one wheels because this cars purpose is to have the crap kicked out of it on a daily basis. which takes a toll on wheels. i can get custom steelies made to my specs for about 55 a piece. what should i get? will i have to buy alloys??
-
well after piecing together my toyota 4x4 brake upgrade (thanks ROSS C) ive realized that my wheels are no longer going to work (uglee anyways) so here is my dilemma, while im in the process of buying wheels should i try to buy a set near stock width ? so i dont have to buy flaired fenders? should i do coilovers and try and get the widest tires i can in there? or should i just get a spacer to make it work ? i know it all comes down to my decision but i wanted all of your opinions... thanks in advance -pete

yeah when i finished one of the welds was still orange when i came in the house wielding the hunk of metal, then i realized no one was home so i threw it in the sink and came in here to take pictures of it cuz i had to show someone, im so glad i got a job at a fab shop so i make cool stuff that i consider to be art every day, and as for the deer sign, my buddies got it for me on my 18th birthday to remind me not to hit anymore deer with my car (3 in one summer)

someone make me some flairs while yer at it

Zparts its the inner fender extension where the headlight bucket mounts i used inch square tube and cut it along its length then tacked it at the right curvature for a near perfect curve then i migged the whole thing now all i have to do is make an exact replica for the other side, (in the accident i had with my Z that entire area was bent to shit hehehe

Metric to SAE brake adapters

i was wondering this too.... ross would i be able to buy the adapters and hardware for the toyota 4x4 vented swap from you ? -
well.... 72 240z - $2000 350 rebuilt 500 t-5 100 pressure plate 75 flywheel 60 clutch disk 80 mig welder 1100 hehehe its too early to do math but ... thats what ive got so far, i still need things like a distributor pulleys belts and a driveshaft, im making my own motor mounts to mount to my cusom framerails. it can definately be done very inexpensively however the cheaper you go the more questionable the quality of the parts will be. ive never seen my motor run. it turns over fine but it came out of a really smashed car. my t-5 has a broken mounting tab that i will weld at work. the flywheel is used and needs to be resurfaced. good luck to you though i rode in a sbc Z for the first time a month ago... it was one helluva ride - pete

yeah i dont have a heat gun only a torch what did u use for heat? i used aircraft stripper and that did a nice job only if you get it on your hands itll eat right through yer skin. i wish i was dealing with actual undercoating.. but mine is just tar so it comes off as disgusting GOO anyways time to get crackin thanks again
-
thanks jim that answers alot of questions. the second link did work. now my only problem is the fact that my car has no wheels on it and its cold as shit to be spraying anything with water lol... that and the fact that ive already replaced my floors so my drivers side inner fender and my whole rear deck underside area is of concern, i also am doing this without a rotisserie. in the front their is no rust at all however in the rear rust has broken through in alot of places do you think something like ospho will work on the rust well enough ? i want to por15 the whole underside im not spending too much time on the inner fenders because after inspection the front end is getting a tube job (sounds kinky haha) ive been thinking about getting a second Z and trying an approach that scares most (more so then what ive done so far) and building myself a fully tubular frame completely ripping out the old undercarriage and starting fresh hehe , anyways back to topic thanks for all your help ill take lots of pics while im in the process -pete

damn, two things i hadnt thought of, what should i search with ? i tried undercoating, undercoat and a bunch of other things and nothing came up unless it wasnt posted in paint and body
-
if your gonna use a wire wheel and an angle grinder be prepared for that tar to fly all over the place i completely ruined a pair of shorts and a shirt to the point that they werent even wearable for car stuff anymore (their original purpose) id suggest heat and a scraper sand blasting works well for the corners, once u get it down to the point where u have a very thin streaky layer still on there go to yer local pepdudes go to the autobody section and look for a little black wheel that looks like a webbed plastic. stick that in one of your drilles and a strippin you will go. it works pretty well. remember to get at least a particle mask for all the sanding - pete
-
yeah i hate sandblasting always getting shit allover the place... my garage floor has like 10 lbs of sand on it... the previous owner tarred the whole car. man id like to break his jaw. had it not been for the fact that Zs are hard to come by up here then ida bought a cleaner car... o well , thanks for the advice ill try it - pete

so por-15 doesnt end up a finished surface?
-
alright, cant paint POR over primer though correct?
-
hmm well i have por 15 but i chose not to use it because i dont have the metal ready or the other thing you have to use. i was told those were required is this true?
-
i just cleaned off sanded to bare metal and primered my inner fender on one side i plan on using rubber undercoat. i bought some bluemagic jet spray pure rubber undercoat.. should i paint the inner fender first then apply the undercoat or can i spray it over primer? also which way will the undercoat adhere better? i tried doing a search and i got nothin.. thanks... pete
