I completely agree. Every since the explosion of evo's and sti's people have started to idolize them, when they have flaws just like any other car. Take it from someone that has driven an sti more times that I could count on my fingers and toes, they definitely have their drawbacks too. For one they have a fantastic 0-60 and then kind of fall on their faces after that (in stock form). You'd be surprised at how many cars (and the caliber of cars) that I've seen beat stock sti's. Another bad thing about them is that they are heavily FWD biased.. If you lose all grip for some reason (going around a corner waayyy too fast) it just slides in a straight line because of all the understeer. In inclement weather the awd is awesome, but in dry weather I'd rather have a rwd car any day of the week. That is just my opinion of course..

Yeah man, registration is up for anyone that meets the age requirement and has a valid drivers license. I'm 24 and showed up in a civic with a million dents (there was a hailstorm here the night before) and they didn't even think twice about it. It's all for charity so it wouldn't matter if you took the bus there and had daisy dukes on.. As long as you're 21 or older and have a valid drivers license you'll be able to test drive some cars. IIRC, there was my civic, a bug eye wrx, a scion xb, and an older 3 series parked right across the street in plain view of all the attendees. Surprisingly they were all really cool people too.. Most of the 30+ guys were just there to drive the m3, haha. All the younger people were there mainly to drive the 135i, and there were no questions asked. As long as you went inside and checked in & got your hand stamped you could go and drive the heck out of some cars. I'm waiting for a buddy of mine to get off of work right now and we're going to head out to the one today in Ft. Worth, I'll try and snap some pics and post them up at the end of the day.

I hadn't noticed this posted here yet, so I figured that I would share it. This is a function with BMW in association with the Susan G Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer. Basically you just sign up, show up, and drive the heck out of a bunch of bmw's and for every mile that you drive they donate some money to a great charity. Here's the link to sign up: https://www.bmwusa.com/Secured/Content/Forms/UDSKForm.aspx?enc=rUcQLrBQ079iJTykYQh/Im1wxOM8G4epSpIinsgA+gY= And here's a rough list of cars and the age you must be to drive them: Z4 Coupe 3.0si - 21 Z4 Roadster 3.0si - 21 128i Convertible - 21 135i - 21 328xi - 21 328Ci - 21 335Ci - 21 M3 - 30 535i - 21 535Xi - 21 550i - 25 650Ci - 25 750Li - 25 760Li - 25 Alpina B7 - 30 X3 3.0si - 21 X5 3.0si - 21 X5 4.8i - 21 The entire list wasn't at the one that I attended today, but I did get the drive the **** out of the 135i and z4. I was actually really surprised at how fun and docile the z4 was. With the top down it was very easy to have a conversation without having to raise your voice, but when you wanted to get on it it definitely supplied enough "oomph" to get you through traffic. When I took the 135i out I was lucky enough to hit a break in the normal traffic of the highway that was on the test route so I really got to open it up a bit. Let me tell you this, when you're driving that thing it really doesn't feel like you're going as fast as you actually are, as I found out after I hit 130mph in no time at all. The brakes on it were fantastic and felt like they could really take a lot of abuse on a track day, but to be honest it really did feel heavy around corners. The power that it has is fantastic and the drive is great, but I think that the car would be much better if it simply were lighter. I know that if I could afford one I probably would have left the lot with one today though because it really did impress me that much. I didn't meet the age requirement to drive the m3 so I can't give any details on that other than this: It looks fantastic in person, especially in that white.. The exhaust note could be a permanant cure for any of you elders with ED, I know that I had to force myself not to point at the staff.. and the guy that came back in it right before I got to drive the 135i got pulled over doing 110mph on the highway. The great thing is this - the cop let him go since he knew that he was doing it for charity and just asked the guy to come back and ask the others not to drive that fast on the highway. I would have listened but.. c'mon.. that twin turbo straight 6 was just BEGGING for abuse. haha. Anyways, just a heads up. If anyone here has already attended please feel free to post up your own experiences and if you didn't know that it was happening I suggest finding out if/when it's coming to your town and sign up. I had such a great day I'm going tomorrow too.

I'd say that if you really want to make this happen your best bet would be to track down a totalled STi and just try to drop the body on the wrx chassis.. Much like the owner of the Civette did. IF you do decide to do such a thing please be prepared to spend A LOT of money, and go with the sti 6 spd tranny.. I've personally put an sti tranny through hell quite a few times and never saw a problem out of it. They're not known as bulletproof for no reason..

Looking for a fuel efficient car for the wife...

^That's what I was thinking.. Not to just go against everyone else, but I have quite a few friends that have owned vw's and they've all had nothing but problems.. From Corrados to gti vr6's, every single one of them broke down and had the kind of electrical problems that nightmares are made of. I actually had a buddy that had a jetta with 30k on it (he bought it new) and it broke down on his way back from Fla. to Texas. He had to have it towed the rest of the way into Ft. Worth and just told them to keep it since he had nothing but problems with it for the entire 30k miles. FWIW they look great! -

I've got to say that if you don't mind a car that does 0-60 in 14 minutes, I would definitely recommend a civic. The newer (06+) civics seem to have a few problems in the quality dept (rattles, cheap dash, etc), so I would get a 2005 or older. I have a 2005 Civic coupe that I generally get around 39 highway in, and the d series in the 7th gen civics are extremely reliable as long as you don't beat up on them. I've personally put this one through complete hell and it has yet to give me a single problem (knock on wood!). -
I'm really curious as to what was done to make the k series trans to fit the 13b. This is madness..

Hey 280zx 2by2, I went ahead and resized that pic for you.. All you'll need to do is replace your link with my link and I'll remove the pic from my post. BTW, Great pic bud, it's definitely better than any pics that I have of my z car. : (

Man, that's terrible. I had something similar happen a while back and I completely lost it.. I was driving down the street and I saw a couple of kids playing around in the driveway. I really didn't pay any attention until I drove by and heard a *ping* and turned to see one of them holding an airsoft gun! I slammed on the breaks and completely lost it, going off on both of the kids. One of them ran in and grabbed their dad, who came outside to get an earful from me (with a few obscenities thrown in). The father apologized and jumped the kids asses right then and there, which I was really thankful for because he was about 6'6" and probably 300lbs and getting cursed out by a 5'9" kid that was 150lbs soaking wet. Hopefully you can get this fixed quickly, because that's definitely a sharp looking car.
-
^I would think that too, but at the same time it might be a bit cheaper to stick with the subie trans if possible. I don't know though to be honest, I guess more reading is in order. I'm off the clock though so someone else is up, lol.

Here's a quick thread that I found on www.nasioc.com . http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1290927 I would say that your best bet would be to search around that site to see what you could find since those guys will do anything to their cars. They not only mention using an rx7 tranny with a modified driveshaft, but they mention the use of an r200. I've found quite a bit of info on there over the years when helping my buddy with his sti, so I'm sure that you can find some info there to help you out with this endeavor. [edit] I'm just going to update this post with any more threads I can find for converting a subie to rwd, so feel free to check back with it. http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27532 .. hmmm http://www.subarureview.com/showreview.php?id=1336 A $350 RWD conversion kit for subies? Found this link on another forum: http://www.rocketrally.com/website/index.php?option=com_oscommerce&osMod=index&cPath=40_182 They have a subie AWD - RWD conversion "kit" that seems to work on either wrx 5 spd or sti 6 spd trannys.

Circuit City messes up civic stereo installation - $12k in damage!
firm replied to firm's topic in Non Tech Board
I figured it might be a good time to point out that the original poster of the thread (the civic owner) has gone out of his way to say that this isn't all circuit city's, but one specific location that he has named.. with a store number to boot. It's not the fact that one place did such a horrible job that bothers me, it's the fact that it still isn't resolved. I don't see why in the world the company can't just own up to the fact that they hired an incompetent worker and pay to resolve this/fire said employee. I know that because of that I will not be spending any of my money at any circuit city location any time soon. They're up there with wal mart to me at this point. -

The guy has been told that it does no good to contact any CC representative because "It is out of our hands now." He is waiting for CC's insurance company to get with the dealership about the amount. All CC has offered is to cover the amount for the electronics that he bought, but hasn't offered a dime for the damages and the amount that it will take to fix it all. He now has an attorney and I don't know if you all can see the linkbacks or not, but this has spread across the internet like wildfire. It actually was on Autoblogs front page for a while there.. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but what's done is done I guess. -
Basically what the drift subies do is use the stock awd platform with the front disabled. That's the only info that I got out of a quick 30 second phone call with my sti owning friend, lol.

I have no helpful information to post, but I would like to say that the gorgeous sound of flat 4's/6's make me salivate uncontrollably. I can't wait to see this done.

This sounds interesting.. this is the post of me trying. [edit] When I go into "super edit mode" it just enables the advanced mode. I don't see any options for deleting an individual post. I know the mod functions with vbulletin shows a "delete post" button when you click edit, or you can check next to the post and go to the bottom of the page and select "delete post" in the drop down menu.. But I see neither option in this super edit mode. Maybe I'm just used to the easy way, lol.

I've been enjoying it for now, but it has no inspection at the moment so I'm too scared to drive it, lol. I've been getting it all up to par before I really start driving it. I had to change out the clutch, have the flywheel resurfaced, and redo all the vacuum lines because they were a complete disaster. There was a line going from the fuel pressure regulator to a T with an open end. I'm glad I didn't get on it too much because I would've ended up with a bit of a problem. At the moment I'm jobless so there's not much that I can do.. That's driving me crazy more than anything. Hopefully I'll get a job soon so I can just dump money into this and get it where I want it (for the most part). I know that no matter what happens I'll be driving it by this summer so my girl can take my 05 civic because she's always saying that she either wants it, a brand new accord, an element, a gtr-33, or an s15 silvia. We will get married someday.. probably soon after that gtr or silvia. This is really nice man. I wonder if you like music at all

I don't know what's funnier, the great story or the ads that display because of it.:

After reading the posts I kind of feel bad for laughing. Common Sense > that guy

Yeah, I just have been busy doing projects for school so I only resized the bare minimum of pics. I'll get some of them uploaded and posted as soon as house/top gear is over.

Can I suggest going to Dynosaur? I've heard from quite a few people that Alamo's dyno is calibrated wrong from quite a few people, one of them being a subie builder in Dallas. I might be completely wrong so feel free to take this with a grain of salt, I honestly know a little bit less than nothing about what could be miscalculated due to a dyno being calibrated off of where it should be. I know that BDJ's Racing uses Dynosaur quite often for all of their built cars.
-
Man, I wish I would have made it in time to see those two beasts on the dyno. Looks great bud, thanks for sharing. Are you happy with the numbers?

Haha.. Touche' I meant to crack a joke on my current d/d, not the future d/d.
