  1. Is it a race only car? It's hard to tell when it makes first boost, I think around 3800. After 4000 that thing moves out! Before I spend anymore on the turbo, I want to drive the car.
  2. How about youtube, putfile or streetfire? I've never driven a 280z even though I have two(one parts car), I bought it not running as a project. I don't know what to expect from the L6, maybe you're right and boost below 3000 wouldn't be necessary. All my experience is with SBC's. I did buy the t3 to get the car running, can't get too hurt for $40 and it's a helluva lot better than the 1.32a/r P trim that came on my t04b. I'll probably setup an external WG if I can't find internal parts cheap enough.
  3. *anxiously awaits Cliftons report on actual spool rpm*
  4. I don't know how big it is, I'd assume that it's the same size as a wastegate vacuum line, so ~1/4". It might not be big enough if the car is driven in really cold weather, but mine won't be so it might not be an issue.
  5. Seeing as these cars don't have an easy way to mount a computer controlled IAC, would it be possible to use the fast acting boost control solenoid as a PWM IAC? Just tap into a vacuum port on one side and put a little filter on the other.
  6. I was wondering, about what rpm does your car hit full boost?
  7. Clifton, from those dyno charts it looks like the .69/o-trim starts to spool at 3500 and hits full boost around 4200. Maybe an o trim with a .58 housing would be a good compromise. You said you just switched to a p trim, still got the o trim wheel? I've heard the stage 3 t3 wheels way better than the stock ones, is that an option or a waste of time? The parts I currently own are a complete t04b v trim and a stock l28et exhaust manifold. Is full boost at 32-3500 and 350whp a possibility or am I just too used to looking at v8 dyno charts? I really appreciate the time you guys are taking to help me.
  8. I have no problem rebuilding my own turbos, as long as they don't have to be balanced and from what I've picked up they don't. I'm looking for 300-350rwhp, which would put me right in the sweet spot of the V-trim compressor map. I just don't want it to be real peaky, the car will almost never see the drag strip, I've got a camaro for that. I'm trying to do the motor on a real tight budget, so I'd like to use what I have if possible. Bolt on would be nice but I can weld so if I need to make something I can. At what rpm does a stock or mildly modded zxt hit full boost? How much power did your v-trim/.63 t3 make? With what kind of curve? EDIT: is a t3 center section the same size as a small shaft t4 center section? How about a stage 3 wheel in the .63 t3 housing?
  9. Ok, I found someone who will sell me a .63 turbocoupe T3 that needs a rebuild and is sans compressor side for 40 shipped. I think I'm gonna buy it, 4200rpm is just too high for me. Another 50 for a rebuild kit and I'll have $150 in my hybrid.
  10. Very cool, I was just looking at that guys page and wondering how his stuff works. I'm gonna need a rebuild kit for a hybrid I'm putting together. Do you think the parts were good quality? Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
  11. Glad I asked then! What would you suggest I do to get it down to where I want it? T3/T4 hybrid with the stock exhaust? I think I know where I could get a hold of a stock z31 .60/.63 t3.
  12. It's honestly my first turbo car, so I don't have anything to compare with. If boost comes in around 3200-3500 I'll be happy, any lower and I'd probably have to buy tires too often.
  13. Looking forward to it! So your switching to the .58/p trim from the .69/o trim? Are you running the v trim on your '71? BTW, the car in your sig looks AMAZING!
  14. I was wondering how a T04b v trim compressor with a .58 p-trim turbine will spool on a relatively stock l28e. There might be some mild porting on the intake/head, I haven't decided yet though.
  15. This is my first post and I've already found forum members close by, that's a personal record! I'm near brockport. As for the snow, It's really not that bad as long as you have a beater.
