  1. Someone edited the title of this thread.....
  2. Thanks, I did find that you could swap the R&P and have it fit in the case. I'd need to make some spacers as I think the s30 R200's have 10mm ring gear bolts and the z32 ring gear has 12mm bolts. It looks like the hard part is getting half shafts to fit. The flanges on the z32 unit are 5 bolt and I think the q45 flange is different.
  3. I'm in a kinda similar situation, gas costs me about $50 a week to drive to school in my winter beater and I make about $70 a week, the firebird gets a little better mileage, so I'll be glad when the snow melts for more than one reason. Any money for parts for the Z have to come from selling things off the parts car or doing some minor welding on the side(actually more money than my "real" job). I live at home though so that means free food!
  4. I recently acquired a z32 vlsd with axles, partly because I didn't know the difference between a short nose and a long nose R200, but that's besides the point. I did some searching on here and didn't find much, but I did find THIS gem on z31performance.com, I figured that this might help start some thinking on how to fit one in an s30. FWIW, I can mig and tig weld and have full access to a pretty good machine shop. Any thoughts?
  5. One thing I've been wondering is if the greater PW and RPM resolution of the MS2 have any noticeable effect on how the engine runs?
  6. I think radio shack has them, I know for sure that they have DB9 connectors and I seem to remember seeing DB37 ones as well.
  7. It might be worth considering a new housing, I got a quote for $150 from a vendor at turbomustangs.com for a new stg 3 housing. The wheel was another $75.
  8. I always just tell them that I need a ______ for whatever make/model/year the part originally came off of, the guy must think I maintain a fleet of old trucks and camaro's.(haven't really started buying parts for the Z yet) My bet is that the carb kit you ordered contains parts for several different carbs, I know that I could rebuild several different model Holley carbs with the same part number kit.
  9. I was wondering if you could post the current .sldprt files up, I'd like to mess around with it. If not that's alright too.
  10. or any sort of larger than stock turbo?
  11. FWIW, I paid ~$65 about a month ago for mine, it was in the classifieds here.
  12. Damn, well I figured this thread needed it too. when I saw it there was only 2 views so I figured he hadn't posted it yet.
  13. Look what I found on looks like I beat him with his own video. jk, it sounds as good as it looks. I also saw your drag video, my camaro traps 85 in the 1/8th, that means that your 280 could probably break into the 11's in the 1/4 with real good traction!
  14. It's better than nothing, I used acetylene and had to beat the piss out of it with a 3lb hammer. Just make sure it doesn't come off crooked and damage the wheel. My personal favorite penetrating oils are PB Blaster and Kroil.
  15. +1 for the search, but say if someone did want to help you out and give a suggestion a little more detail would help, like how much horsepower do you want? 100? 300? 500? 100000000? The more detail the more likely someone is to help.
  16. Tractor supply co might have some, I know they have acetylene and oxygen.
  17. It looks real good! I might just have to copy it.
  18. Maybe the gasket from a mustang SVO or t-bird turbo coupe would work.
  19. I found this link helpful. I believe that the T3 and the T04 CHRA's are near identical so everything should apply. I don't think you can rebuild without removing the turbine housing. I used a torch and a big hammer to get mine off.
  20. Thanks, I saw the 2nd thread searching(and have read it about 3 times now. ), The first thread was VERY helpful. especially this picture. I saw you recommended the chrysler coil packs to someone, just to clarify, that was because the plug wire connections were the same as a standard SBC type wire?
  21. I've finally decided that I'm going to run EDIS on my turbo L28(now I just have to decide which MS to get). What do I do with the distributor? I'm not too familiar with the internals of the L28 as I haven't taken mine apart yet. Is the oil pump driven like an SBC, by the distributor, or can I just make a block off plate and chuck the damn thing?
  22. I think it should be able to handle it, the valve is actually controlled by a TIP122 which, from what I've gathered, has a max current of 5A.
  23. I want everything to be controlled through the megasquirt though, I could probably just use that valve and have megasquirt control it via pwm then, right?
