I shared these pictures in my build thread but I figured this would be a good place to share them as well. It was a nice photo-op from a friend's friend. The last picture was from a recent track day I went to.

Samson, the latchless hatch is only for the GT Wing which is used for track days. The car is secured on a trailer and backed up towards a wall. It's extremely difficult to steal and the inside is completely empty. For the street I use the BRE style spoiler and regular hatch with a lock. However, I met this guy that shaved his hatch and he said something about flipping the latch lock around. Have the side that is on the chassis bolted to the hatch and the lock side on the hatch was bolted to the chassis. He would shimmy his finger and press a button to release the hatch. Don't know what or how he did it but he did. Maybe that might help your situation?

Gollum, it was a favor and he's very busy so I guess I can't complain. He's a great photographer just hard to get any of his time after the fact. I really wanted some hi-res pics so I could print them out and frame the ones I liked. Oh well....
-
I wasn't able to get the high res pictures from the guy because he kept flaking so here are the pictures. Not as great but of well. My buddy Toan and I got up at 4am to meet the photographer and did a shoot before the sun was up and some day time pictures. Never had the opportunity to do anything like this before and it was a great experience. In no particular order I hope you guys like the pictures.

Can't hate on that bro. Life first! I'm excited to see you get her up soon. Hopefully for the 2013 NCRC track day. Oh yea, you ever sell those wheels/tires and tranny setup?
-
For sure bro. I think I'm just going to let the car sit for the winter and get parts I need after. Holiday shopping and car parts don't get along and I won't have the funds for both at the same time. Haha. What's the progress on your Z? I haven't seen any updates recently.
-
Took the car to ThunderHill but the clutch couldn't hold up. I guess it's time to upgrade. I had a blast while I was out.. just wish the clutch didn't let me down. I'm going to upgrade to a twin-disc. Probably won't have any updates for quite some time. Here's a short video at the track. Warm up lap and I got in 2 laps before the clutch started slipping. On a different note. My buddy and I got a photoshoot with a local photographer and he took some stellar pics. I'll upload those when I get the hr-res pictures from him.

So I should just go and buy this and sell it back or what? Hah. If I had the time I guess I would. I just saw this on CL still. Can't believe it's not sold yet. edit: wait a second.. I never caught that it said BID on there before. I see what you guys mean now. screw that.

I know this is a rare item and many people look for it. I didn't know where else to post but maybe this is helping someone out? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/pts/3413311116.html Rally Clock for the 240z No this is not my sale on CL but this is pretty damn rare as I've only seen this one other time in the last few years.

New Z, Enter if you dare to help 8D
itzgoten replied to bertio's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
The guy was from Chico and I added him on FB to chat about his car. I didn't know he sold it though.. Sucks.. -
Thanks! I looked at Swain it it wasn't the same. Swain's was white. This literally came back chrome looking. I don't have many before pics but here was the stuff when it was being fabbed and after it was coated
-
FJ 280z, I had all hot pipes ceramic coated. My buddy works for some "unknown" place that ceramic coats various things that go into either planes or something aerospace related. What he does exactly is pretty vague but he said he could ceramic coat my parts. When they came back it all looked chrome. He coated my buddies turbo components a few years back for his 1000hp civic and the coating is still on there. Even when the piping bottoms out on a car it doesn't flake off. Anyway back to your original questions. The manifold, both dump tubes, downpipe, exhaust side of the turbo were all ceramic coated. I also wrapped the turbo with a turbo blanket and I have reflective material wrapping the BMC. The top is open in this picture but I had it stapled shut so it's completely covered.

I changed a few things.. added a breather box, baffled the valve cover breather holes, battery in the back, new intake piping with a "stacked intake" (velocity stack in the cone), oil cooler added as well.

http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/102637-my-first-z-build-road-course/page__st__60 Check out Rob's build. Maybe that'll help you out a bit. He was a pretty extensive build going but you can clearly see the points he uses. -
After 3 years, I am heading to the dyno on the 5th
itzgoten replied to mr jdm's topic in Nissan 4 Cyl Forum
Good god finally. I checked back here a few times in the year and was sad that there weren't any updates. I'm glad to see you're up and running. I'd love to pick up the manifold but I can't right now. I have a track day coming up in Nov. and I'm trying to get the track hatch ready before then. But I'm curious, does the intake manifold have the same bolt up locations at the stock manifold. If it does then that'll work in my favor. I really wanted to grab a MazWorx intake mani but they are pricey and your looks very similar. Please keep us posted I love seeing your build. I plan to do a SR24VET in a S14 some day so this will be very beneficial to see you do. -
Progress on my insane VQ35HR 240Z project
itzgoten replied to markrolston@mac.com's topic in Nissan V6 Forum
Mark, it's great to always see your car out and about. A mutual friend is the owner/creator of Weak Sauce (Wek Sos) that has those events and even though you are far away from me I got a picture text with your car. I just love it and the original Ver 1.0 will always be special to me. You sent me a hi-res pic some time back and it has been a poster in my room for a few years now. Keep it up! You inspired me to build my car to what it is now. Not is gnarly but close enough for me. -
I would love to do all of that IF I had the option. Unfortunately, I am no Mark Rolston.. although I wish I was sometimes. Or at least have his kind of budget.. LOL Interesting concept with your spoiler idea. I like the thought of it. Please take pictures when you have the final product. Anything adjustable on the fly is always nice. I really wanted to go to the BBQ you had a few weeks ago but that very week I was in the hospital and didn't get out till a week later. Funny enough the Z was finished the day before the BBQ and I went in the hospital the day after. Now I have to wait another year to meet everyone. You guys doing any other events in the near future? Keep me posted!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything but here's a quick update. I finally brought the car home after being at the shop for so long. The demons to all of my problems was this machine shop I took it to. The head was never done right and I kept having issues. I tore it all apart since my last post one last time to have someone else check it out and the head was just not worth investing anymore. I bought a new head had it lightly ported and all of the parts put back on. I've been driving the car for 2 weeks now and she's all dialed in. I can't wait for the next track day.. Here are some pics of the head when it was cleaned out and assembled. The pistons were scuffed up a bit so I had them coated and now they are good again. While all that was going on I got a spare hatch and mounted the GT Wing. This will be track only and I'll never have it on the street. I love what it does but a GT wing on a S30 just isn't too sexy. I had a metal plate welded on the inside of the hatch because it was too flimsy and I didn't want the GT wing to bounce around. I got some Sparco clips and they seemed to do the trick. A KA powered 510 came to visit so I decided to take a picture. I finally got around to getting a front bumper so I decided to put it on. Maybe I'll sell both of these and elect to get fiberglass ones later on. First time the car has been home in a LONG time.. It's been in and out of the shop and never really ran right till now. We took the car for a cruise to Santa Cruz and my buddy and I took our cars out. It's so damn nice to finally get to put some miles on her. Jesus, it felt like a long time coming. I probably won't have any update until November after the track day. Or when I finally get around to doing the 350z 6 speed tranny swap.

Subaru Sti R180 differential and Axle conversion. (Revised)
itzgoten replied to Nizzan's topic in Drivetrain
This swap was fairly reasonable for what I paid and my time spent. I am NOT mechanically inclined and I was able to do it all on my own. It was pricey for the axles but I picked the mid-grade setup. The diff on eBay ran me $200. Axles were 1300 and I used parts off my old r180. All in all it grips great and I am pleased with the results. Maybe when this diff breaks I'll do new axles with the r200/230. -
Subaru Sti R180 differential and Axle conversion. (Revised)
itzgoten replied to Nizzan's topic in Drivetrain
Wedge, Not sure if you're talking to me but it does hold. However, John is probably right as far as its capabilities with holding down the power. I haven't had any issues yet at 400+hp and a handful of track days but I'm going to bet it'll eventually fail. I talked to OS Giken about getting a new diff for the r180 and they didn't recommend it. The said nothing they make will hold down the power reliably.. I would suggest getting a r200 with custom axles and getting a OS Giken diff for the best locking power. For what I'm going to need it'd probably best I sell my setup down the line and get a r200 or r230. But for a 400hp max setup I don't see why not. -
Kind of an old thread but my Z was corner balanced at it weighed 2260.. cross weight was ~51%. If i do recall I think it was 50.7% to the rear. Car is pretty much gutted with a 6-pt cage.

I love the valve cover buddy! Super cool!

I was wondering if anyone knew who the shop or owner of this beautiful s30 was. I spoke with the gentleman briefly but forgot some specs that he gave me. Would have been better if I remembered his name.. Maybe he's on HBZ or someone knows him? It's a long shot but worth a try. He was at the West Coast Nationals 2012 for the MSA meet and I he's been to the JCCS Meets too. Anyone? Thanks again!

Thank you very much. It's definitely a car from hell. LOL! So much headaches from the build but it's all worth it. I'll just enjoy it for now. Just got the GT Wing mounted and I'm working on a custom vented front end and splitter. After that I think I'll give it about a year or so before I move on to the 350z 6-speed and full megan coilovers with swift springs. This motor build is a bit overwhelming and my pockets are still hurting from it. LOL
