  1. it'll be 500 dollars and that includes the bolts and flywheel spacer. for the oil pan lost also had one made for his swap. you might contact him to see how he designed it to see if it'll work for the s30 swap. i'm planning on going with a dry sump setup with mine so didn't need the pan.
  2. actually, Q guys claim closer to 300-310 hp stock and 315-330 tq. (this is due to the engine originally being tested without VVT to keep the numbers under 280 hp since it was in japan. they added the VVT which added quite a bit of power. the claims have been proven by quite a few dynos). it would definitely be fun with a 5-speed tranny... the auto box just doesn't do it for me. plus that torque converter weighed a **** load, well over 50 pounds. a nice light flywheel and clutch setup will make this engine rev real well.
  3. lost/450ZXTT has had one made for his project (Twin Turbo VH45DE Z32) - http://www.freewebs.com/axepower/ he already has the design and everything since he has it done on his car so it should be pretty easy for his machinist to throw together quite a few more since they know exactly what to do. i think probably the biggest benefit is these will most likely be cheaper than what most machinists could do it for by making just one (unless you're really good friends with one or are a machinist yourself).
  4. roughly 500 dollars, this would include the conversion plate, the bolts, and the flywheel spacer. definitely a good since you don't have to make your own design from scratch and try finding someone who'll actually take the time to do it. if 500 is ok with you let me know and i'll add your name to the list.
  5. Level 10 should be able to modify the valve body on the tranny and such to make it shift a bit faster and harder (which actually makes the tranny more reliable since less heat is generated between shifts). Here is an excellent site for info on the Q45 http://www.q45.org I'm not sure how much you studied the engine but just incase, since you have the 1990 Q45 you'll need to check the timing chain guides to see if they're intact (90-93 have this issue). The stock ones were made of plastic and get very brittle with the heat of the engine and evetually will break (not all are full plastic). Being an interference engine these definitely need to be checked. If they are intact I would still replace them with the new metal backed ones so that you never have to worry about them again. Sometimes you'll even get lucky enough to where they have already been replaced. The only way to really tell they're condition is to take the timing cover off. If they did indeed break you'll most likely have to take the oil pan off to get the pieces out of there (you'll be able to tell if you need to pull the pan off by whether or not the pieces are still intact). What is really cool about the older VH45's is that contrary to their factory ratings, they pull somewhere closer to 300-310 hp and 315-330 ft. lb. of torque. What is even cooler about these things is the power of the engine peaks twice giving it one of the most unique feelings when accelerating. On top of that... these things are incredibly strong. 6 bolt main, a huge girdle to tie it all in, forged crank and rods... its almost a race engine built for the street. Considering the Infiniti Indy car engines were based on this engine and the newer VK45DE you know that these things are stout. I know of a Q45 guy pushing around 600 hp using a supercharger and nitrous... on the stock engine. He said his engine is showing no signs of trouble at all. Another guy was running 275 shot of nitrous though his... stock bottom end. These things are nothing short of awesome. If you add a little boost to them they can be absolute monsters... especially in a very light Z car. (Q45 weighs nearly 4,000 lbs or more). If you have anymore questions about these things just let me know and I'll try helping out the best I can. As soon as I started studying these engines I really got into them. They are some very fine engines.
  6. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=97216 and... if you would rather have a manual tranny http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=98356 if you keep the auto though be sure to get a decent tranny cooler for it. the stock setup isn't that great and actually heats the trannies up more than it cools them. most of them die due to that.
  7. nice! definitely take some pictures of the process! oh and uh... by the way... planning on using a Z32 tranny by chance? lol
  8. i got that e-mail before not too long ago inquiring about my mtcmotorports.com website.... which i don't sell any parts on. heck, i haven't even started on it yet lol
  9. Its a 90. The 89-94 (3rd generation) Maximas seem to always have troubles with these bearings. The 92-94 SE 5-speed is supposed to be a bit stronger but they still brake a lot as well since the bearings in it are supposed to handle about 6,200 rpm... when the engine can rev to 6,500 rpm. The auto trannies are a whole other story... they are even weaker. Its not that I don't believe the T56 is a good tranny or isn't strong, because it does seem to be quite stout, its just that I'm so tired of Borg Warner that I don't ever want to give them any of my money. lol You shouldn't have to worry about yours. I've not heard of any issues with the newer trannies except from the boosted guys breaking gears due to lots of power. lol
  10. because one has already been made and can easily be made again but to be worth the machinists time he'll need about 10 orders. also, the Z32 flywheel bolts right up to the VH so you can just buy the whole Z32 flywheel and clutch kit and bolt it up. the nice thing about keeping the Z32 tranny is you don't have to do any clutch disc changes to match up the splines. just bolt it all in a go. also, the gear ratios of the Z32 tranny match this engine very well. also, i'm a very big borg warner hater. i never want to own anything with the borg warner name on it ever. my maxima has a borg warner tranny and it has given me nothing but headaches as has many other maxima owners. seriously... who puts bearings in a tranny that are only rated to spin up to 5,800 rpm when the engine can rev to 6,000-6,200 rpm? doesn't seem like much but try telling that to all of the maxima people who's input shaft bearings continually break with only stock power output... putting a turbo on mine makes it a whole new story. bought the maxima and the input shaft bearing was broke. figured i'd rebuild it but it was ran too long with the broken bearing and a piece of aluminum broke off that the throwout bearing slides on. bought another tranny to throw in it... get it in the car... turns out that bearing is broken, up to bearing two now. get a rebuild kit and throw it in there. everything works good. now, the thing is broken again. (this was all before boost ) on top of that i aquired a tranny from another maxima guy and that one had a broken input shaft bearing as well. basically, borg warner will never be getting any of my support any time soon. lol
  11. i've talked to a person who owned a harley (may have been a buell) and they said there were just driving along and the whole damn engine fell out.... i sure as hell hope they were over exagerating a bit because that's some damn poor quality if not. i've never really like harleys that much because i've just not heard many good things about them. i'll take a honda sports bike any day... they are very comfortable and quite fast.
  12. You know... if any of you guys want to do this swap yourself I'm setting up a deal to get a conversion plate made to bolt the Z32 TT tranny to it: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=98356
  13. i can. you can e-mail them to me at mark at mtcmotorsports.com
  14. i usually don't have very much luck with american made stuff. they seem to break a lot for some reason... most notably chevy, ford, and chrysler... lol
  15. i have a blower that might be able to make some more power in an engine... lol that's my VG30E block next to it...
  16. i think the thing that is commonly mixed up between those electric "superchargers" and a real supercharger or turbocharger is that the electric things are blowers. they just move air. a real supercharger or turbo is actually an air compressor... just like you'd have at the shop to power air tools. those air compressors use pistons to compress the air (some even do use a centrifugal type compressor as you would see on a turbo to compress the air). a blower is nothing more than a fan moving the air. there is no compression being done. hell, even your engine powering the car is an air compressor... the same exact thing as in most shop air compressors. they're just pistons compressing air with some fuel mixed in so that it blows up and forces the piston back down with some power. i'm sure most of you guys already knew this but i figured i would throw in my $.02
  17. this goes along with the other link but if his motor mounts wouldn't work and such and you just need the tranny conversion plate; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=98356
  18. The coolant fitting is called a banjo fitting. Here's a picture of the stock oil fitting, its the same design:
  19. Yup, he's on here. He's the one that can have these things made for us.
  20. yup, that looks right. the coolant jacket isn't directional if i remember correctly so you can put the inlet and outlet where you need to there. the oil inlet has a small round hole i believe so it looks like you have it marked right. the later Z's actually didn't come with a T3. it was the 84-86 that had the T3. the later got an even smaller turbo, the T25... both are actually quite small for a 3 liter V6 (i believe the T3 had a .4x a/r turbine but i'm not positive) but... in the end they can still be pretty fun. if i remember correctly a stock Z with the T3 turned up to 15 psi put out about 250 whp and over 300 wtq... very nice if you ask me.
  21. Including myself I have 6 people on the list. We're getting really close!! Anymore takers?!?
  22. i wouldn't be surprised if something like that would cause a civil war... and i wonder who would win... the people with the guns or the people without... lmfao
