  1. Coolant temp switch is an area of concern. On older cars, the rubber boots over the connectors dry rot, moisture gets in and corrodes the terminals. This causes high resistance and lies to the computer about the real engine temp. ALL CONNECTORS ARE SUSEPTABLE TO THIS PROBLEM. Leaky/sticky injectors are another concern.
  2. When I get around to it, I'll put in a switch that toggles the starter and horn. Unauthorized cranking will cause the horn to blow. Thief won't try too many more times.
  3. I have a 73 240 and an early 260. Both have the said 2 pumps. I read the factory manual. the electric pump doesn't start working untill you hit a certain rpm during cranking or running. ( I have to recheck the rpm spec) If the car sits for a long time, the check valve in the electic pump can stick causing no fuel delivery. You don't want to know how long it took me to get my fuel system straightened out........car sat 15 yrs in a garage!
  4. Good clean fun,........But the kid should have had a full face helmet on!!!! and and a teather.....remember Dale Earnhardt.....RIP

  7. The best head lamps I ever had were Cibie Z beams. 80/100 bulbs. Excellent pattern, and razor sharp cut off. Lead crystal lens. Long out of production. $200 a pair, IF you can find them.
  8. Thanks for the info. I have an '87 IROC 350 TPI/ 700R4. I have 7 Z cars. The swap is going in a 77 280 I found sitting in a garage in pieces, since 1982. 48k on the clock, clean, original and NO RUST.The orange 260 (pic)has 51k, found in MD in a garage for 15yrs, also original paint and NO RUST.
  9. I recently bought JTR's conversion manual, and their Chevy TPI/TBI manual. WOW, what great info and pictures. I just got John's "show me, tell me" for a comparison. This was so I could make an educated decision on which kit to purchase. It showed me how to waste $25.00. His info was almost useless, and no photos to compare kits. Has anyone bought his kit with a complete Manual. With info at hand, JTR gets my order hands down! I could use a little input,........Thanks.Tommy
