Hey guys, Its been a while since i found this little bugga'. I found half of it while i was building my motor. It was hanging out of the water jacket between 1 and 2 cylinders. It was a bitch but with pliers and wiggling and shaking i managed to get it out. Then a couple weeks ago while i was taking the head off to recoat the headgasket I shoked it a little pulling it off the studs and to my surprised out poped the other half! The only thing i can figure it is would be some sort of defect in the cast that was hangin in there and took all these years to break free. It has no jagged edges except where it broke in half. So i think its been like this for a while that why i wasnt alarmed.... any ideas?

Also had a freind last year get his fingers go around his cam gears on his honda, crushed one of them. Car jumped two teeth on the cams and choked down!! Ahhh car stories.... any i also had this place recommended to me: http://www.turboengineering.com/custom_performance_turbochargers/index.html Matt -- ill have to check with james. he may but i thought he jsut sold new stuff.

How badly do I need to correct my camber?
240hoke replied to Gavin's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You have some serious issues if you are running -3.5 deg camber in the back with a 1" drop. I am lowered about 3" and came out with 2.5 degrees in the rear which is about where you want to be. have you replaced all your bushings? I would reccomend not much more then -2 degrees if you are doing street driving as you will eat through tires. Im running -2.5 on my DD bmw and it goes through a set of tires in about 15-20K miles. -
Hey guys, Iidid some searching and couldnt find any really useful information on this topic. I have a t3/t4 turbo stg 5 .82 a/r. I bought it from TEP about 2 years ago new. Anyway I suppose I have neglected it a bit, iI ran it without an airfilter for most of its life, but i thought this woudl damage the wheel not hte bearing. Anyway i didnt think the turbo would go out this soon... I noticed I have a fair amount of shaft play, I can wiggle it back and forth. If I put pressure on the compressor wheel and spin it it will ever so slightly hit the housing sometimes. I also noticed it leaking oil out both the inlet and the outlet of the compressor. Today while i was under it i noticed oil was actually dripping a little out of the bottom from teh compressor housing seal. So i suppose its time for new bearings and seals. The turbo sounds fine and spools fine but i know its on the way out. I believe for now i wuld like to just have it rebuilt. I am looking for a good place to send it too. If anybody here can relate by personal expirence that would be awesome. I also read a few places including here that it was easy to rebuild them yourself but balancing is a very very crucial part to building a turbo that will last, so from what i have read and heard doing it yourself is liek a temporary fix. So.... i was gonna rule out rebuilding it myself unless there is something i dont know. Anyway just looking for some general advice on turbo rebuilding or where i can have it done. Im hoping to send the thing out monday. thanks for any help!

I have always wanted to make a set of carbon front fender and a bolt on set of carbon rear fender (bolted or dzeus'd), in a "yz" style. I think it woudl look like pure sex. I dont know much about fiberglass work but it seems as if the mold for both would be relatively easy to make as there are no crazy curves or anything. Alas i wont have time to mess with carbon till i get out of school but i was wondering if you might make some thing along these lines. This is the rear fender style I love:

Could you please email me a price for a front spoiler and rear bre style spoiler? Also wille you be making a vented spoiler like in my sig? email: twiistedsixx@gmail.com Thanks alot -Austin

I really like the idea of a hybrid patch and would buy one. But honestly that patch design is very cheesy. In my opinion it should definitly say hybridz.org. I think that should be the whole patch. I too like the header to our webpage i think it would make a nice patch. I will also say that i have gotten ragged on for wearing my hybrid shirt a few times with the "engineered to be feared" logo.

It is 3M Rubberized Undercoating. I can look up the exact part number when i get home tomarrow but here is a link to 3m website with a product they offer. they have changed hte can but I believe it is the same: http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_marine_aero/automotive_aftermarket/node_76RM01N3V9gs/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSLPLPKL4Xge/bgel_94BGZ69V1Fbl/gvel_6DTWTJQPBBgl/theme_us_aad_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html

I used 3M undercoating. It comes in spray cans and is easy to apply. It looks nice and seems to hold up very well, i love 3m products. The good thing about it is that it is VERY easy to touch up. Just wash it off (if your inclined) and respray it. Its not the tar stuff like the original coatings. Its more like a thin rubbery paint, which can actually be painted. Anyway its the easiest and cheapest way to go i think. this is what it looks like.. can be found at autozone.

hehe, with the brakes i have on this car, i think a little more tire could be quite benificial
-
hahaha. Well long story short a deer jumped out in front of me and well it resulted in me locking up the tires and flat spottin the front ones. Im still not used to the car and locked up the brakes.. shame on me... oh well didnt hit the deer. Swapped em to the back and took care of the little flat spots Running 11psi right now... once i get her dialed in there im going to start increaseing the boost. We will see what hte turbo will do but im shooting for mid 20's. I will be more then happy with 350rwhp at the ground on a Mustang Dyno (inertial loading).
-
hahhahaha i feel accomplished
-
when will they learn?...so irresponsible... okay short little video of me rounding out my tires. It not really good quality but I'm rediculously bored so i thought i would throw it up here. Hope you like. Dyno tuning this weekend!!!!! Finally get to up the boost a little http://www4.ncsu.edu/~alhoke/zburnout2.wmv

I think they look 50 times better then the 280z lol. I love the look of the 240z turnsignals they flow with the huge sugar scoop headlights. However to answer your question I believe most people switch to the 240z style turn signals due to the fact that they are changing the front bumper and airdam. the 280z front valance is bubbly and has large indentions for the bumpers. When you switch to earlier style bumpers then you also need to get a 240z style airdam, which in turn leaves you with hte need for 240z lights. I personally like the euro clear fornt turnsignals. I do agree with certain colors the big yellow/orange things could clash. I know mine do with my yellowstar headlights so im gonna look for some clear lenses. if i could ever find some at a decent price!

Yup i got hte 4" version for 175.. just gotta look around

Im pretty sure you can have them made jsut about anywhere. We have a little key cutting station at my buisness and i cut a couple for my 260.

Keep it on the track guys. Racing on the street is immature... and you are risking more then jsut youre life. My favorite kill was against on guy in my Z club He had a brickyard red vortec supercharged 350z, cams and headers, 425 rwhp. We were all driving to a z show in greensboro, the 350z guy was to be the leader. The president of the club told him we wanted to take it easy and stay around the speedlimit. He replied "not like anybody could keep up anyway" So we all left a few miles down the interstate when it switced to 4 lanes i flew up from the back of the line and he took the bait. We lined up for a rolling race from about 55. I jumped him 2 car lengths easily and held it all the way to 120-140 where i let off. This was in my 260z running 11psi (254 hp). I was quite happy, and i think he learned his lesson he looked quite disspointed. As a 16yo in a 30 year old car just whooped up on him

you can get the foam weatherstripping from lowes or homedepot. it will work just fine. Its used for sealing windows etc. They have it in different densities i used the soft open cell foam stuff worked great.

sparky -- mainly -8 and larger, only a small selection of other sizes. there are bins and bins of fittings and they pick up new loads every so often. Lots of -8 stuff straights, 45's and 90's very few 180's. Prices vary a little depending on condition, but usally they are about 50% of the new price. mostly aeroquip and xrp stuff. Mike - good to hear you havent had issues I just wanted to throw this out there, i may have gotten a bad batch. I just wanted to be sure people knew so they could double check their fittings if they are using jeg's stuff. Looking at my Earl's fittings im installing tomarrow they are much better quality and much tighter clearences on the oring section, very very little play.

Backordered Panasports
240hoke replied to cscottmiller's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Isnt everything always on backorder from MSA. I wouldnt be surprised if they dont send yo uteh wrong rim once you get it. they cant seem to get anything right. Try http://www.classicdatsun.com they might have them in stock and if he doesnt he will call and give you an exact date. -Austin
