Does anyone know about these guys? These engines seem awefully cheap but exciting. Hell I can get a Chevy 509 replcement for my BBC 396Z for only $4500. 470HP and 525 Torque for a daily cruiser wouldnt be bad. Also the SBC 406 looks like a good deal as well. I would much rather be able to get two engines for the price of one if its legit. I had figured 9K for a decent 434 stroker but if I can get a 406 with close to 500HP for $4500 and a 509 BBC for $4500 hell Im in. comments, suggestions? This is out Spokane Washington, any Zers up there?

I wanted some in sight on a future project. 240Z powered by an RB26 Skyline motor, now heres the question... how do you make this car AWD drive with the suspension and driveline of a AWD Skyline? What parts would we have to get to make it all wheel drive? Money is not an issue. Let me know what you guys think about this project and process. Thanks.
Its already been done...Ive seen the pic here on HYBRIDZ. I think it was out of Japan. I believe the chassis was a little too long and the IC was sticking out of the front of the car. Cool idea nevertheless...

Mike Ill send more tomorrow!!! Its my payday...yippee!!!

I slept on the idea and it still looks good to me but one concern came to mind.
The fact that the mounts, since the diff is a short nose, needs to be extended forward, would'nt that create some kinde of a lever between the diff. and the original mounting point?
And would'nt that just add to the torque multiplying effect of a diff. that just want to push up with all it's might?
What I mean is that the mounts themselfs are probably strong enough to hold the diff. in place but, maybe the hard points on the chassis itself are'nt strong enough and could get torn off.
I came to this conclusion after reading Mr. jmortensen's sticky on diffs. FAQs.
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116207
I also noticed in the same post, that a desing similar yours has been used but, the guy solved the leverage problem by linking the two parts of the mounts with a lenght of tubing and from that transvers "link", there is another lenght of tubing that goes upward to a plate bolted to the bottom of the tunel. I guess he probably reinforced the tunel too as the sheet is prety thin in this area.
So, tell me what ya all think.
Isnt an E Brake mandatory for street inspected vehicles? Maybe a brace could go up and around the EBrake assy?

OK Gang, This is a really important drive and we're asking each and every member who owns an S30 to dig deep and come up with whatever you can for this effort.
BJ Hines and a few others from the North Carolina area have gotten together with the owner of a windtunnel and are planning to rent the windtunnel for some basic testing/ data collection on the Zcar, both in stock trim, and with a number of spoilers/airdams/aerodynamic devices to see what really helps, what really doesn't and what cause and effect can be measured.
This is VERY important to each and every one of you who drives an S30. We all thumb thru the pages of each vendor catalog, trying to decide which air dam looks best, or which rear wing provides the most function along with form. Don't you want to know WHAT TRULY WORKS?
It's time to answer the question to these mystery parts combos and The Carolina gang are willing to put up some funds, front some parts and chassis, and do the wrenching/take the time. Since we're the PREMIER site for modifications to the Zcar, I think it would be best represented to the Zcar community if we champion this cause.
PLEASE DONATE TO THIS CAUSE. If you can spare $10-25-50-100-500-1000, Any amount, please donate... I'll track these funds and provide an accurate accounting of the monies. If for some reason we do NOT pull off the event, your funds will be returned to you. Please understand that any fees Paypal hits me for will be gone to them and not me, and therefore won't be refunded.
PLEASE DONATE TO THIS EFFORT. We'll all benefit from this excersise in aerodynamic testing.
Send funds to: dat74z@yahoo.com
We'll post an update as the event comes together. I plan to write an article to submit Nissan Sport Magazine and we'll take plenty of pictures and defenitely post the results. We'll also track the funds and I assure you that this WILL NOT BE another PINKS fiasco. All of the parties involved are mature adult professionals who don't need to scam you for your money!
The cost for one day of rental is $3500. This is NOT gonna be a cheap endeavor. Please keep this in mind when deciding to donate or not.

My dad was a combat medic in the 101st.... i dont know if anyone remember the movie called "Hamburger Hill" but my Dad was one of the survivors of that little snafu. first time i think ive ever seen him want to go to a movie about Vietnam but we went to that one... he would point out characters and tell me names and stuff that happened and at the end of the film they credited two of his buddies as advisors that he had mentioned in the film... was very odd and awkward to talk about... As a Vet myself he has opened up a lot more but still doesnt much talk about it. I called him and talked to him after my first tour in the first Desert Storm and ever since then he's been very open about it. Sometimes when i see the difference in how i was treated and even the troops over there now are treated by civilians (even the ones who dont like them over there) and how the Vietnam vets were treated after coming home... its unbelievable and heartrending .
Phantaz I was in Desert Shield and Storm, who were you with? I was with
11th Marines Cannon Cockers 1st Marine Division Artillery at the time. Must say Airforce did a bang up job over there too!! My dad was in Vietnam as well 67 68 with the Big Red One....my son goes in the Marines in February...

Yes, there was a turboed 4 barrel that was bought recently by one of the guys here, I think it was Bob Hanvey(?) Extremely fast, widebody kit, really really incredible car. Was set up for road racing. I think Bob was going to put an RB26DETT in it IIRC.
I've seen others too, but that one...
Here's some pics: http://www.geocities.com/row4navy/rb26swap/72Datsun.html
As to this:
I guess that's the reason those same vehicles came with that AWESOME log style exhaust manifold, right? Because they wouldn't put it on there for decades if it wasn't flawed...

WOW! who makes those wheels? I need a set!

I doubt it could be done for $1200, but maybe $1500.
The cheapest I have gotten 4L80 cores for is about $450, you might luck upon one cheaper, but it's unlikely.
The cheapest I have bought a "good working" unit for from a wrecking yard was $1100.
So say you found a trans with some type of warranty from a wrecking yard for $1000, then $200 for the manual kit, then a few bucks more for a filter, pan gasket, front and rear seals, and then you still need a converter. A stock replacement converter is about $200, any type of mild performance converter (2000-2500 stall) is $400+, and any type of real performance converter is a $700+ deal.
Then you still have the issues with speedo hookup. It is a $500 kit to make it work with a mechanical speedo, or a $300 converter box, or you could use an electronic speedo for $200 or so.
It adds up.
Yup! What Jake said...thats one reason I went the route I did but ZGAD can tell ya that a TH400 or 4L80 is very stout unit when built right....9.34s?

Corzette... Thanks for your insights. I "thought" these guys made the Raptors but their website doesn't mention this. If you have the link to the company from which you bought yours, would you mind posting it?
Mike, here is the website to the 200 4R Raptor. http://www.200raptor.com/ Like I said before I have had no problems what so ever with the 700R4 level 3 These are great guys to work with and seem very knowledgable. You get a choice of a stall convertor too if your running an auto. The level 4 is the strongest but mine is a level 3 with torque drive package rated at 600HP. I ran HP nearing 600HP with Nitrous and had driven it over a year with tons of passes and street driving without any problems. I bought my convertor from EDGE RACING however. They rate the Level 4 at 700HP...just passing what they advertise. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm You dont need a core either....hope this helps.. A little spendy..

I'm buying what one of the major reputable builders calls "Stage 3". Just about every imaginable upgrade has been made to these so one should handle anything I'm likely to throw at it. The last time I priced one of these "Stage 3" 200R4's it was $1500 (or maybe $1600) plus shipping. I'm hoping to find a really well-built one on special from one of the truly reputable builders.
Mike your talking about the company that builds the RAPTORS right? I got the Stage III 700R4 that includes the TORQUE DRIVE package and I LOVE it!! No problems at all!!! They said they are good well over 700HP. It should hold on my 434 Stroker to come...
