  2. So you are located over in Mesquite,. My friend has a shop over off 80 by Poteet high school, Automotive Solution. He has a sbc powerwed 240Z with a B&M baby blower.

If you want to run around sometime let me know I am always out running at night when the weather gets better. I have a 1971 Datsun 240Z with a stroked sbc. It went 6.80 at 102 on the motor and 6.59 at 107.70 just hitting the bottle at the top of second. I should be good for 6.20's or better on a full pass, especially with my new tighter converter.

I used my 9.5" converter which was too much converter for my set up. It flashed at 4200 on the motor and 5200 on the juice. My new one flashes at 3200 on motor and 4200 on the juice.

Welcome aboard I would love to met up one night and see your car.

So Mike is that still a 3500 stall? Edge?

  3. Well Ive always loved Corvettes and Zs. So my first Z, a fairlady, had an L88 hood scoop on it and after I found HybridZ I did the V8 conversion etc etc. Anyways with the over fenders and hood and engine, tranny etc...I decided to merge the two, hence "CorZette" Kinda sounds cool. It also reminds me of the 70s vette too so I just started dreaming and came up with the best of both worlds I guess. The only other google I get is a race horse in england somewhere or something like that. Hey I had it first!!:-D

  4. Your son has a lot of talent.

Make sure he receives the necessary education. How old is he?

    ERIC

Eric he started drawing when he was 5 or 6. He usually has more detail but did this in a couple hours. I will try to scan some of his better stuff and post. Go to this link and see some pencil drawings and Japanese Anime that he did when he was around 12 or 13. He taught himself but would like to make something of it. Yes VZ he is going in the Corps next month and is quite excited. I wish I could say the same...I know I am hypocrit but Im proud of him for it.....lol. Heres the link:

  6. Yeah, ULISES I was just trying to make a positive comment by saying the MPH were in the 9 sec range..didn't want you to take that out of text. That engine must pull like hell on the top end. Wish I was there to see it. On another note, how is the bottom end and where does it come alive? Trying to understand the torque band and cam selection etc....

  7. Ive been here since April 2000, way back when my Z was running 14.3s and because of this site did a rebuild and changed cam and went 13.7s!!! I was so stoked. Then before I came back to Japan as a civilian (retired from the MArine Corps) I was running 11.9s on engine and then decided to go 10s before putting them in storage and ran a 10.9 just to say Ive done it (NOS but what the hay). Well needless to say 9s are next and I have plenty of time to figure out how to get there all because of HybridZ. I think I was one of the original top 100 members. Used to reflect our placement but since all the upgrades have taken place its changed a little. All I can say is Im much smarter now since Ive been on HybridZ and its been a blast. :-D

  9. I fully expected to see pictures of my car when I opened this thread...my body work is pretty bad...

Anybody catch the price tag of the second car? 80k!!!! the first car is only 6500, it MUST have cost more than that to build.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA....your too hard on yourself...!!!:D

  10. I received material for front rails and subconnectors today. I also picked up some 16 gauge galvanized sheet steel as a gift. Actually, there is enough of this galvanized sheet material to replace the entire floor.

Are there any drawbacks in using the galvanized metal for the floors? Besides fumes and zinc puddling, is there anything else I should watch out for when welding the galvanized metal to the plain steel? Would plain steel sheet welded to plain steel stock be a better/stronger finished product? Will I be safe using the galvanized metal?

    Thank you all again!

My floor pans were all redone with Galvanized sheet metal. I just torched off the edges and then welded it on. It will burn a bright green color.See my pics at my site below for the before and after pics. Looks amazing and I coated the welds with 95% zinc coating afterwards. Yes dont breath that stuff, isnt it called Cyanide? Anyways I did it because I shouldnt have to worry about the floor rusting ever again and it looks great!
