  1. I got my mfactory unit in the mail yesterday, I'm very excited! Quality product made in the States at the right price. Thanks for getting this on the market!
  2. I'm interested. Will email you with details! -Emmet
  3. I'll have to get back to you. I might end up using it. I plan on attending next year's ZCCR in Rochester, you should go! I had a blast last summer
  4. I have a pacesetter round port header I can sell you cheap, I don't have the 2-1 connector though.
  5. Thanks! Looks like they got it for initial bid, $84 shipped. That went pretty cheap.
  6. What's a fair market price for a turbo valve cover? My friend has a turbo motor-I'd like to approach him with a fair value in mind. Thanks!
  7. I'm looking for a new set of Nissan OEM chrome fender mirrors for my 280Z. Cheapest I found are $425 shipped from Canada. Looks like they're going up in price-prices a few years ago hovered around $350. Maybe there's a site that ships direct from Japan?
  8. I'm enthusiastic to see where this project goes. Didn't realize I'd upset anyone, but then again, this is the internet Sigh.
  9. You purchased a set of 6 Mikuni TM40 carbs for $200? That's cheap! Where did you get them for that price? I'm not familiar with Mikuni TM series carbs, but the slides are operated by a throttle shaft. (As in, the cable doesn't directly pull the slide-the slide is operated by a shaft which is rotated by the throttle cable). Proof photos here. Take a look at the image I attached above. That bank of 6 carburetors looks like HSR series carbs. These can be lined up on a single throttle shaft rather than operated by individual linkages. Here's an example of two in series linked by a common throttle shaft. Four Mikuni RS40 carbs on a common throttle shaft: Four HSR carbs on a common throttle shaft: Using a similar setup, you only need to run a linkage that turns the common throttle shaft across all six carbs. Not bad. Also, here's a page where the author describes use of Mikuni HSR carbs on a Holden straight six motor:
  10. Why build a datsun motor, then? It's way more expensive than building a v8 engine, given the plethora of aftermarket parts. Or why even build a car? We should all be driving japanese minivans, that'll please the gods of common sense! I get the criticism, but you should consider the design intent of this kind of project-to go out and do something different. I've seen holley carb setups, I've seen weber setups, and I've seen fuel injection setups. A bank of six motorcycle carbs has been done before, but it is uncommon. Perhaps for a reason-there are other established practices with a wealth of knowledge behind them. It's the OP's time and money, he can do as he pleases. I'd love to do the same, knowing full well that better options exist for cheaper. Why not? Or should I sell my Datsun and buy a honda minivan instead? Here's a video of a 240Z that runs six mikuni carbs. Tell me that doesn't sound cool-I dare ya!
  11. I was at a friend's motorcycle shop checking out his distributor catalog for mikuni carbs. I've had this idea rattling around my head ever since seeing Eiji's 240z with 6 mikuni motorcycle carbs on youtube. Just found this thread with a photo of Eiji working over his bank of six Mikuni motorcycle carbs PKZ, what carbs did you end up going with? RS smoothbores, HSR? HSR has impressive flow numbers but are pretty massive-they come in 42, 45, and 48mm bore size. I haven't done much research-installing a bank of six motorcycle carbs would come out more expensive than purchasing a complete Weber DCOE 45 triple carb set and manifold (assuming $300 retail for HSR carb), then there's the engineering hours put into the manifold and tuning... I'll put this idea into the 'wouldn't that be nice' category and focus on building an engine for my 280Z first! How are you going to setup for fuel delivery? Depending on the carb they are likely gravity-fed carbs that'll puke gas once you apply fuel pressure.
  12. I bought a T5 tranny from a ZX with 130k miles for $200. Good shift feel, but condition otherwise unknown. Also no clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, or slave cylinder. I thought the price was okay, since they're only going to get harder to find. I later bought a turbo driveshaft and diff for $80 which I felt I did well on.
  13. any particular reason you're not interested in using headers? I'm curious...
  14. I went to ZCCR's meet last month, here we are lined up for laps at Watkins Glen: and a few shots of my Z. New York's Finger Lakes region is gorgeous-it resembles rolling French countryside, and there's too many wineries to count! Of course, I'm too cheap to stay at a hotel, so here's me messing around with my flashlight at the camgrounds:
  15. I'm interested, but I need more data...What's the price if 10 people buy in vs. 20 buy in? etc. maybe this thread should be replaced with a more formal thread-see NewZed's post above.
  16. Typo there-meant to say the auto transmission driveshaft. Sounds like a custom driveshaft is the way to go.
  17. So I'm collecting parts for a transmission swap down the road for my 1978 280Z 5 speed manual. I picked up a Borg Warner 5 speed from a ZX turbo a while back that I plan to use. I'm also looking to pick up a 3.9 ratio R200 diff. I'm picking up a 3.9 R200 diff from Craigslist, and the owner will also sell me a 3.5 R200 diff with a turbo driveshaft attached. He claims the auto driveshaft should work on the manual tranny, but I searched the forums and it looks like it won't. Maybe someone can confirm that the auto driveshaft won't work on the 5 speed B/W? We agreed on a price of $100 for the two diffs and the auto driveshaft, so even if the auto driveshaft doesn't fit, the price is pretty reasonable for the 3.9 diff I plan to use. Edit: I made a confusing post first time around-next time I'll post from home rather than sneakily at work!
  18. Same That's the most impressive 2+2 I've seen. Toni, any particular reason you went with a 2+2? I'm only 300 pages into your webpage, but I'm bookmarking it for inspiration!
  19. I called Rebello about this-they have LD28 cranks offset ground to bring displacement up to 3.2L with 89mm pistons. If you provide a diesel crank core, price is similar to the 3.1L kit. I'm not sure how much it is without the core, but probably a lot more.
  20. There's a reason the S30 is called the 'poor man's Jaguar'
  21. Tide, is that a fabric tow hook? Never seen a tow strap like that before. Care to share a few specs? Muffler, wheels, 5 lug kit?
  22. Sign me up. When I first started looking at air dam options, I was confused that I couldn't find any of these bumper delete covers. They seem essential to the swap!
  23. Looking for a complete ZXT motor. I'm located in upstate NY right outside of Albany. Let me know if you know of any for sale. Thanks
  24. Thanks guys. I'll need to come down on the price since all the labor involved in parting it out won't be worth it to me. I'm only interested in the motor/tranny. BluDestiny, what were the fast selling items you made the most money on? Here's the other '83 ZXT for $2500 I was talking about: Obviously out of price and condition range for a parts car
  25. So I own a '78 280Z and have been reading up on the P90 head/F42 block combination. Been considering budgeting for turbo motor and getting a streetable 200hp N/A build. I put a wanted ad out on CL and another Datsun enthusiast showed me his '83 ZX turbo parts car for sale. The car was originally a Georgia car, the owner bought it when he was visiting family and attempted driving it back, but the body had enough rot that there was wheel rub. So, this is strictly a parts car. The motor only has 70k miles and apparently ran when put away. He's asking $1500 since that's what he bought it for, but I don't think it's worth THAT much. Help me figure out what the car's really worth so I can justify a lower offer. -5 speed manual, '83 turbo motor, aftermarket intercooler (useless to me), 70k miles. -R200 diff, but I believe it's the same as my '78 5 speed? The half shafts were removed, too. -no hood/grill, body is rotten beyond rescue, no key, title in hand. Also, would there be any other parts that can be interchanged from the ZX to my 280Z? Rear disc brakes, diff, brake booster, sway bars, etc. Anything to help bring a little more performance out of my 280Z. (as a side note, I found a somewhat clean 280ZX turbo out of state, owner wants $2500 and I could drive it home! I can post pictures if anyone's interested).
