Hi,
Looking forward to see progress on your engin build, I'am subscribing to this thread.
Check out this link: http://www.carcraft.com/projectbuild/116_0704_lq4_short_block/index.html
I know you have an LS engine but this article has a small paragraph about the carb and intake with dyno numbers.
Do not forget to update.
Cheers,

Thank you for the link.

The engine I currently run in my track car is a rebuilt 78' L28 (N42 block and N47 head), with ITM +0.5mm flat top pistons. Stock head gasket. Head was milled just a little to flatten it out in a few spots. CR is in the 9.9 - 10.0 range. The rotating assembly was balanced. The intake ports were matched to the intake manifold, and a very light port cleanup was done (budget racer). It has a mild road race CompCams camshaft in it.
It makes 180WHP and runs fine on pump 93 octane with a total ignition advance of 28 deg. This is my reliable "spare" motor that I am using full time now since I had a piston melting problem in my supercharged motor....
The reason for using the N47 head was mainly that I had it, and I have a nice round port header. Again, this is a budget racer.
Pete
Hi Pete,
That is pretty good, 180whp. I read a lot of post about engines with a lot more engine work then yours and still produce under 200whp. It gives me hope for my build. Arizona pistons w/240 con/rods, 40dcoe, headers, bigger valves but do not know what cam to use, yet. I'll be happy if I break 200whp with my parts.

Lets see how long this one takes to get bashed......
LOL, Easy boys, this guy only has four posts. lets keep him here.

Not Safe For Any Use Of Any Kind!!!
Thank you for your input.
-
These are (or look like) the same set of arms that have been passed back and forth at least a dozen times over the years, I believe they were mock-up pieces that I threw away years ago and someone scavenged out of the trash
(i know who). They are not Chromoly and were never intended for actuall use.
I'm sure we'll see em another dozen times before someone finally throws them away.
Dave
Therefore not safe to use for street and/or occasional track?

Thanks Jon, I just pm Dave hopefully he will have an input.

Thanks for your input guys and keep them coming. Jon are sure they were ArizonaZ's design? Maybe I should contact Dave. I need to know what balljoint to use.
I just purchased them through Ebay and the owner had them for a long time but never used them.
Terry, your car is still #1 on my list.

Its not that this time he is rude or uncourteous, he is just a member of what I call "the techno kid generation".
When I started using computers we had 12'' floppys. When I booted the computer I had time to go make coffee and a sandwich. Today, computers are so fast and efficient that, we as human beings, are developing very low patience and tolerance levels, its crazy. My nephew who is 12 years old and claims to be a "multi tasker expert" he cannot even sit down and enjoy breakfast let alone read a book.
The faster computers are getting the quicker we expect to get a response. Did anybody notice (from the 50's 60's generation) when you walk in a store you rarely get a " Hi, how are you. Can I help you with anything? Let me know if you need something". You pratically have to pick your item walk up to the cash and pay with plastic and you get a faint "Thank You" from a human being who sometime behaves like a robot. We are living in a antipersonal society and it is going to get worst, that it is.
I understand Aziza and I do not blame him he is a member of the tecno kid generation. He is cultured to it.
I am of the old school and when a computer make me wait I do not expect anything from it. I just say "what a stupid machine". Therfore I do as much as possible manualy and that is the way I like it.
Anyways, just my 2 cents on this 15 sec anguish.

Hey guys,
I'am sorting out my garage due to moving and I found boxes of car magazines. I must have approx close to 1k issues. from late 60's to early 80's. Hot rod, car craft, popular hotrodding, sport z/zcar, all of them I think, autobuff ect... anyways what do you guys do when you want clean up? You sell them, keep them, what? There is no taker on ebay, I checked nobody bids on this stuff.
Cheers,

That was hilarious!!!! Totally unexpected. Nice find.
