  1. Hey Frank, any update on the shipping from USA to your place?

    1. dat 280zx

      dat 280zx

Hello I saw a feed for a 280zx carbon fiber hood and I was really interested but it was from 2006. Do you know If John c is still making them or if he ever did because I would be more then willing to but a full carbon fiber hood fir my zx

  2. dude those would get you pulled off the road in europe in a heartbeat! next to that .. buy some stock H4 lenses and than judge! Even with xenons this light wel be some much more agle to help you.. instead of flare all over... Hounestly its junk.. (that coming form guy praising the OBX diff)
  3. Well i hope to have it done this or next month.. its one of those weekend things you have to plan the time for. ill post pics when i have it done.
  4. basically this is what im working on for the front, a threaded CNC tube pressed over the stock strut and than welded. We are now working on the for the brake calipers, nothing to fancy but im sure it will turn out nice
  5. Here my full cage, it was built with FIA annex K in mind, so sadly no crossovers to the strut towers (wich i would have really liked) It was built By VA-Motorsports in the netherlands, and as you can see it is a qaulity piece, He also makes stuff for serious datsun competitioncars like alluminum door hinges ect.
  6. I never had any problems with trailingarms .. in fact i like it better than the set up on my Z4 coupe. To me the trailingarms help me exiting the corner i like that Sqat in feeling upon the apex! I wish we could drive on the same track once and datlog the cars to see where the one is faster than the other due to supsension setup, just from curiosity I admire your car as you seem to be one of the only s130 drivers that caged up here haha !
  7. My bought set up has 400's rate springs and the car wil be under 1000KG.. (aiming for 950) That should be easy considering i use 78 slicktop s130 with the full isma kit (so that means the bigger part of the rear fenders is fiberglass as wel) fiberglass doors, hatch, hood and front fenders, lexan windows, no interior, carbon shell seat. I have fairly thick ARBs (I’m starting of with the MSA kit) and Slicks aswel, however it will be a dog in the rain with 400's in the rean i like more roll and 250's in spring rates, and 300's for the Nurburgring Only point is i have to use 15"by class so 50 or 60 tires who by themselves will act as softeners for the rate aswel However lets see what it will bring! the suspension for now is my main worry
  8. 1240 KG??? that seems heavy do you have full glass and steel/interior ? Did you convert your rear supesion or only the front to s14 ? asnormally the rears would be allot stiffer due to the trailing arms, i have seen e30 with 650 in the bak and 570 upfront, full track cars i might ad so round 1000KG's (i tend to compare the zx allot to the e30 due to the fact technically and weightwhise its allot like a zx )
  9. Can we please stop hyping the car..... I have had numerous zx with 'grease marks'. The only thing the ZXR is, is a decal set and wing slapped on at the port AFTER they where built and shipped as base model (factory pre 2000 rice if you may) They are 'nothing' fancy apart from the fact there where only 1001 built, and the nostalgia about it .. sorry! And i don’t want to be a jerk about it either, i know ZXR's first hand and yeah they are cool! But they are not souped up nor different from any other Z. If they are faster it could only be a minor weight benefit due to the fact they have less options than the normal ZX bought stateside. (and if it has the stock wheels there is less rotating mass. Steelies are the lightest you can get )
  10. Its not the statement that you made just that last stupid needless line about That legacy being a stellar parts car for 1st gen cars that don't need to deal with the cheaper and schizophrenic semi-trailing arms at all. in a s130 forum .. But ooh well stock for stock .. bring it on .. Hmm **** where did i leave my magic duct tape to fix those wigwag problems !!!
  11. Want me to take you up for a roadrace challenge .. and see the cheaper and schizophrenic semi-trailing arms blow your doors of ? I think the 280zx did ok racing .. and lets not forget the BMW m3 ... also one with the cheaper and schizophrenic semi-trailing arms. (At least if a bear attackts it i can fix it with duct tape)
  12. I wonder how well it is weighed out? what kind of struts are you running ? how did you measure your roll center? I guess it is fine for a mainly street show car, but dropping 6"(what i did aswel) made me have to move pivot points of the a arms, and I’m in the process of figuring out the modifications to the rear. On my zxr I fabbed up some coil over myself aswel I had to section the struts etc etc. and it is far from perfect for track use (it is ok and far better than stock, but not what it CAN be) the springloads you post here are WAY to stiff to be balanced. but roughly what i have on my ZXR. I dont know the best springrates for an s130 yet, as the old isma cars.. wel it has come along way in suspension tech since! Given the Ksports are junk aswel But do show pictures !! ill shoot some of my rides aswel !
  13. Nope its not! not on the list it is not a ZXR. the list is attached to this post, i have a true ZXR.. as it is on the list.. had 46K miles.. but it has some modifications now 280ZXr Information.pdf
  14. samen in Holland mostly 2+2 belguim got slicktop coupes but they ar far and few between..(and rotted beyond repair at that!!!) Here they are mostly stock or modified in ghetto way making you want turn around and walk away!!
  15. I figured it was BS since I have never seen a difference mouningwhise. On the European cars the spring rate IS a tad stiffer and the strut could well be matched to that. I don’t know if it is the case in the states, as most ZX's I have driven there where either modified with tockiko's or the struts where so worn the car boated along like a Cadillac..
  16. Well yes you will be needing to cut and weld (there needs to be a threaded sleeve to mount the coil over on in my case) Ill shot you some pictures next weekend and post them here. Apart from the set available there is not much aftermarket for the 280zx outside of japan. Im sure the JDM has sets due to the increased popularity of the s130 Compared to the US or Europe, but im sure or friends from 'down under'should be able to pitch in on that.
  17. Work ow ... lets not forget work ;)

  18. I read an article on line and it contained the followoing: 'After the De Lorean, the 280-ZX Turbo is the second most illustrious newcomer on the block. Moreover, we have for you here the first Datsun Turbo five-speed to escape Nissan's prototype shop. This Borg-Warner-built transmission will be an option by the time you read this, and brings with it a number of chassis beefings, some of which Datsun hopes to introduce on regular 280-ZXs and Turbo automatics. Each five-speed car will be fitted with a modified rear suspension with re-angled lower control arms and relocated pickup points; a modified differential mounting, which alters the deflection-steer characteristics of the rear cross-member for less wigwag in corners; stronger constant-velocity universal joints; spring rates increased 12 percent over the 1981 Turbo's; and shock-absorber rebound control bumped up by 8 percent. Anti-sway-bar sizes remain the same' Is it true that Each five-speed car was fitted with a modified rear suspension with re-angled lower control arms and relocated pickup points? i never saw a diffrence but now im curious !!
  19. Eurospec ZX's came with a diff cooled 3.3 this due to the higher speeds than the '55' they had in the states. So to be hounest id would go with a 3.3 not the 3.54, from my experiance it still is to rev happy at 70 mph orso .
  20. Well yes and no, Ground control has full race kits for i.e. BMW's they would be the same 'set up' minus the quality, ground control in my opinion is a MUCH more reputable brand (hence the prize) But if you reffer to the sLeeve type set up then No, it is not the same, it is a full coil over. Only it has a generic strut just diffrent mounting hardware, meaning the strut catridge itself is not set up for diffrent car weights as far as i can tell. But agian the prize is 'right'and it is great starting point to find out what i really need for my track car. And i guess for must guys here that dont really built full out race cars it is fine. BUT that is my opinion.
  21. I was wondering this due to the wide range of 'qauter master' like clutches here in holland for the RB engines ... intresting
  22. The question should be what do you need them for are you building a competitive racer ? There are lots of telltale warning signs if you are a PRO racer on the Ksport's and D2's page: * simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment -- never a good thing * referring to shocks as "36-way adjustable" when they're really 1-way adjustable with 36 settings * repeated references to "dampening" (i.e. making things wet) as opposed to "damping" (i.e. controlling forces) These, along with Tri-Point's dyno test, suggest that the shocks were designed by poseurs, not race engineers. Also the shocks on a 'dyno'all turn out a diffrent plot, with fairly large difference between the rates on the same settings. Are they good on the street or weekend warrior? Yes they would be, just be very carefull not to go TO low if the strut bottoms out they are wasted. (~150 usd buys you a new strut) D2, Ksport, etc etc are all the same generic stuff. They are known to be to stiff or to bouncy I doubt most of the users know how to properly setup their suspension for the correct damping matched to the spring rate. Theres no such thing as a comfy ride with 9kg springs. So if you want a less stiff or bouncy ride and you use it mainly on the streets, get a lower spring rate. In my experience, the vast, vast, vast majority (90%+) of people don't have the slightest clue what they're talking about when it comes to suspension. Most are upgrading from / comparing to worn out OEM shocks and have little to no competition experience "stiffer is better" and "it's pretty and/or cost more than OEM, therefore it must be good" are the prevailing attitudes. I have them on my track car and the ride is definitely stiff as hell. But better then paying €1400 per strut for now, as im a rookie when it comes to all out racing. Although dailing them in is a pain. But for a spirited street car the prize is right!, and no they wont last much more than 50K but then again what 'peformance' strut really does? OK concluding, they are not by any means a qaulity product like the REAL brands (INTRAX, KW, TEIN, KONI, SPAX etc) BUT for the money they are fine.
  23. So an rb26 and 25 flywheel and clutch would fit aswel ? or is the RB clutch specificly desinged for the rb30?
