  1. X64v if i want to 'drive'a mercedes ill take taxi cab (sorry haha mercedes and BMW .. its the same as z's vs zx's haha Anyhow in europe 99% of all taxi's are mercedes
  2. amen to that ... even stock replacements make all the diffrence .. most cars i have loaded up in the US had worn .. well any bushing and balljoint for that matter !
  3. I drive a 08 z4 M coupe (eurospec) and in the process to trade my hauler Range rover p38 ( 4.6) to a 540 Msport Touring.. for hauling my race car. and the v8 z the 540i hauler !
  4. I really don’t feel for a flame war, and i love to put my track zx next tor your 'sub zero car' on the same scale.. and im sure they would weigh the same .. Great btw .. that an s30 apparently has a good 75LBS of wiring you can remove and still be street legal (your car is right so you have to run wires at least to lights) because any cage that is half serious ( witch yours should be as you refer to a full cage) weighs at least 75 LBS. Anyhow before you go on with you jabbering how you are an ass, an nobody has anything on your z blah blah .. maybe you should put at least some reason to your talk.. You say you have fiberglass everything. But if I search your name you are very recently posting that still looking for doors and hatches (have them already ) To go in your style.. and this has nothing to do with ‘the lack of love, or it being an s30 vs a s130 .. but I seriously doubt your accurate on your facts ( i.e. your full of it) Or you have cut so much out of it you don’t even run floor pans anymore… i preffer to know aswel! Anyway good luck with it .. id take you on a any course with my heavy lumb any time
  5. Great Ron finally a brother in brand with my 6 speed m60b40 in my zx, still need to tie up some ods and ends (wiring, drive shaft and small crap) I have the l6 in my z m coupe they rock !
  6. Yes and no search!! It is the same as in an s30 just the clearance on the steering linkage might be off. A good r200 wil not break not even with 700 RWHP
  7. I have to say you are very good in ignoring the fact we cal BS on your weight claim... Really to me your are full of it.... ~1850 ... NO WAY !!!!! lets forget the fact you simply know jackshit about the s130 (hence the 'shock vs strut ')
  8. Ill dig up the scales report before and after the boat trip from New York to Amsterdam. i used to have em here in my photo album. But i cant seem to find those anymore. Next to that i think mister D (tonyD) can tell you how 'heavy' a zx is .. as he could not believe the trailer was lighter with my car in it compared to a 260z. Now comes the claimed weight... With all due respect i do not believe 1850.. that is under FIA weight.... so either all parts are 'plastic' or i would like to raise the BS flag on. (get that scale checked as it is of !!) Anything under 2000 is very hard, and judging from the signature pic your car does not seem to be prepped that thoroughly. AND you added a full cage! Though i might have missed something. ( FG doors hatch hood fenders ? lexan windows ? or do you still run glass, or did your car rot away so there is no metal left ) And i have seen early (69) cars in my friends pro shop that even the bolts that hold the fenders cut to length to save weight etc etc struggling to get around 2000 lbs ( hence this is with a full cage). As for my ZX I’m looking to hit the 2200 LBS marker using a full FG hood fenders and cut doors stripped and gutted as far as i can go within in the rules. The lack of love .. because most people take the easy (cheap) route and go for the more aftermarket support and no smog BS to take into account. In Japan you see loads o very nicely prepped s130 pulling as much if not more attention than the early cars .... On the other hand let your riding do the talking on the track a well prepped ZX will blow the doors of a same class well prepped s30 ... History proofed that aswel. However Like stated before i appreciate a well prepped z aswel ( or any car for that matter) Personally i just like the zx better.. all a matter of taste i guess.. A mistake ? hmm it was the best selling Z car... must be a big mistake they made there .. making profit on a product you’d like to sell Next to that before you start the BS on the rear 'shocks' on a s130 you should maybe crawl under one ... I think you mixed up the z31 with a s130 there! I have to run now as i need to find my aviators and play some Maimi Vice tunes and get my suit that looks like this: and do some coke runs
  9. Im getting fairly sick of the debate which is better it is all about taste . i owned two s30 and sold both to stay with the 280zx.. witch for track use is a better base car.. with less aftermarket support but that does not hold me back ... Next that weight BS!!! Want to put your 260z on a scale next to my 78 s130 .... and see how 'heavy' it is ??? they weight is really a myth! Naturally the creature comforts in the 82 and 83 cars made it weigh in more .. but if you want to race you strip that anyway .. And then still it only weighs in at 2518 with two extra wheels in the car. ( at least my 83 turbo did) It is all about taste I have seen GREAT s30 and fuhbar ones. I have seen GREAT s130's and fuhbar ones. Biggest deal is probably the smog regulations in California. Anyhow JTL260z .. I think your comment just shows you like to oil the fire .. it doesn’t really ad much apart from blunt ignorance. I aprieciate any good prepped Z
  10. reminds me of mine when i started ( the zxr and the white 'turd') i see great potential so what are your plans ?
  11. Id stay away from anything rover 4.0 or 4.6 wise .. there notoriously bad they are overbored 3.5’s and the liners (needed due to the fact they are all aluminum, and not like the bmw v8s treated alumin) are way to thin causing them to slip… (read crack) so you can toss the engine .. it is not a question about IF they do it but WHEN.. This makes finding a good used one fairly hard and expensive ( $2000 and up) but new improved ones expensive aswel. And this is not all hearsay I Drive a Range Rover 4.6HSE as a tow vehicle … and im on my second engine.. I allmost dropped a chevy sbc in .. but there is no easy support for the electronics the Land Rover has plenty of.
  12. well you could put in the cam.. but i have no clue if you will pas smog with it.. (no expert on that by any means as in europe the datsun dont even have a cat) Mostly a cam gets better use if you bump the compression a bit! but yeah naturally it would help. You would need to fiddle with the AFM a bit to get enough fuel though. It does allow for a little play
  13. Yes it is a gross weight factor (oversized freight) .. anyhow they are the same as the JDM bumpers i dont think they have the schok absorbers either hence no overriders !! So maybe apo shipping could be done
  14. Talk to betamotorsports, he does the engine swappes and is in la habra.. im not sure 5k will cut the cake though!!
  15. Well no they are the stock euro bumpers .. they are half the weight and sit closer to the car
  16. I think the 2+2 should be fairly easily adapted to coupe with sme skill (shortning the rear panels) anyway this is worthless without pics
  17. come and pay me to take my s30's Anyway for the real question at hand.. If you live in teh US that is a fairly steep prize, id focus on looking some mor . I bought two cars that basically needed a good 600 in parts to be very solid ( i mean no rust!! ) for 400 to 500.. What i did is replace all bushings balljoints, brakes lines etc .. Then paint and your set !
  18. My 78 I have a full isma kit for No being preped with a full FIA cage. s13 coil overs, OBX hlsd, FIA tank etc. The main focus will be weightreduction. NA High compression ITB combo running MsS at first The kit, though this year i might keep it simple as i have 15x8's not the good size by FAR!! my ZXR with BMW v8, coil overs, z31 5 lugs, r32 brakes 3" exhaust and 17" by 10 J wide youtube with l28 1981 2+2 youtube:
  19. Jup 200sx and 180sx's in europe only, a 240sx is a rarity here. They thought of 6 banger BMW engine has crossed my mind alot, as i already have swapped the BMW v8 ( i still need to tie some ends together on that, but al in good time) Engineering on these M engines is just phenomenal ! So id love to see someone do it
  20. I run 10 J and 275s on the stuck set up , you just need the right offset. and im with 260DET BMW m3's performed like a dream... with trailing arms. also on the Nordsleiffe AKA nurbergring.. i know from experiance ... A z31 set up is as 'bad' as a s130 a trailing arm basically is an trailing arm. but it can be made to handle as you see below!
  21. honestly a bigger tb will add throthle response and that is about it on a stock engine, same goes for the filter.. Now if you where to build an engine with a cam, ported head, higher CR levels .. Then yeah a bigger intake and air filter does work. For instance a stock canon tripple weber manifold outflows (from the top of my head) a stock intake by about 30 to 40 cfm.. What im trying to say is that it is a complete package that works together. An engine is a big airpump where parts a balanced together to work as a whole. to get more power that whole system has to be 'tuned' so bigger intake means port job, more CR headers exhaust .. and fuel delivery
  22. JeffP made 465 to the wheels! On a bone stock 150K mile bottom end! at 20 psi .. and over 300 at 10 !!!!
  23. I think you can once it is 25 years old. it just puts restrictions towards your use of the car. But from what i understand that is not to much of hassle. Anyway keep us updated .. i love the s130's !!
  24. That is naturally another issue smog laws! is it your daily driver ? Or could you register it as historical? Anyway if you like driving it Id stick some diffrent wheels ( panasport Wantanabe like ) Or even xxr!! with lower profile tires. or in your case 16x8 ($350 out the door on ebay, but i would advise longer wheel studs and maybe some 1" spacers) This and the whole suspension package and you will note it will make handling a diffrence like night and day!! -shocks -springs -bushings -balljoints -tie rods -sway bars -strut tower bars If you really like wheeling it id say get an LSD. But since you are in CA you dont really get much rain i take ? A cold air set up wont do anything peformance whise, so i would not worry to much
