  1. Bought a Hagstrom Swede in 1975 and have loved it since then (owned Fenders and Gibsons too). They are re-making them now - supposed to be good quality for the money (I havent looked at them yet but my boy has and says they're pretty nice).
  2. Been there when that's happened (wasn't my fault) - i isn't pretty.
  3. Thanks jakeshoe, I thought i remembered reading on the SS site that there was about 40 lbs diffefence. I know several of the guys there have swapped out the 4L60E on supercharged trucks for the durability of the 80E.
  4. "What is the weight difference between a 4L60E and a 4L80E?" If I remember correctly the 4L80E is both heavier and longer than the 4L60E by quite a bit. You can modify the 4L60E to handle more power but i'd agree with jakeshoe, in the much lighter Z the 4L60e would work well. Traction will limit quite a bit of the shock. The all-wheel drive on the SS helps to punish it on launch.
  5. Check out SilveradoSS.com web site (I dive one every day) and do a search. There's quite a bit of tranny swap info for the LQ9 6.0L motor. Its been done there on quite a few trucks.
  6. Love the color ! Like the front and back. Dont like the hood or squared corners of the wheel wells.
  7. I've bought parts for RX7's from them. They are Ok to deal with from my experience - no problems.
  8. I wouldnt call mine sketches, more like just doodles
  9. Found some pictures of the Fairlady and uploaded to my photo gallery. Its a '79 Fairlady 280z 2+2, brought over by a friend how was in the USAF in the late 80's.

    The fairlady

    My "formerly owned" Fairlady
  11. I can find it for the 280Z bodies on classiczcars.com but not for the ZX. Darn, I used to have a '79 Fairlady but never measured where they were at. I can try to see if I can contact the new owner and have them measeure it. This may take awhile. I think I have some pic's of it around that may give you an idea.
  12. Yeah, MJP thats it. If i recall, shipping was maore than the nose. I also heard there were problems with fit.
  13. There used to be a place in England that made a G-nose for the ZX. I looked at it for the '79 Fairlady I once owned. I'll dig around some old emails to see if I can find it. Shipping was pretty expensive.
  14. Those are different fender mounts than were on my old '79 Fairlady 280Z (it was a 2+2)/ Mine were more like the US spec door mirrors (retangular). I'm 99.9% sure mine were correct, I bought the car from the fellow that had it imported so there wasn't much change that anything had been changed.
  15. I'm pretty sure my '79 had lap belts only.
  16. Search for Renegade Hybrids, V-8 conversions. Thinking about one now.
  17. EZ-E, $3500 is high (but) real nice 1st gen's are getting hard to come by now. If the motor has 236000 mi on it without a rebuild - its going to need one. A 12a is good for maybe 100000 mi (if your lucky and take good care of it). Borrow, beg or steal a Mazda comrpession tester and check compression on both rotors (all 3 lobes checked with mazda's unit). Big debate between the 12a and 13b motors, I like the 12a - street port it, open up the exhaust and intake, bolt on a couple webers and it'll run well. Earlier 4-port 13b's are desired also. These cars are light and well balanced. LOts of racing parts available too. Swap out the rearend (with drums) for a lsd with discs. Mariah is a very good body kit, and expensive if you buy it new. Its my favorite. They also make a real nice 2nd gen RX7 kit for like $4500. I'm now running a stock '84 GS with about 68000 orig miles. Paid $1800 for it last year. Had to put a new cat converter on (old one burned out), front brakes, one caliper, clutch slave and master cylinders. Interior is probably a 7 or 8 out of 10, exterior is silver and only has a couple thin spots in the paint (next years project). Sold my '79 Fairlady last year and wish I'd kept it - I liked it better than the RX7. If I buy (find) another Fairlady in good condition, I'll keep this RX7 also - they are a nice car to drive, even longer distances. Oh yeah, a small block also fits in real nice too !! best of luck, let us know what you do. Todd
  18. I bought a '79 Fairlady 280Z about 4 years ago and sold it last summer. It was brought from Japan in 1996 or so by a guy in the Air force. All that was done to the car for certification was to switch the kph speedo to mph and install DOT glass (from the paper work I got with the car). It was titled in PA since entering the US but was imported through CA.There was a sticker in the drivers door jam stating the car was imported for "owners name", an ID number and I believe the point/date of entry.
