Fixed it! I started tuning my Holley over the weekend, and a gasket went bad, causing it to pour fuel onto my headers. They came in the mail today, and I retuned the idle mixture and floats, and now she screams louder than ever! Such a hassle for a minuscule gasket, but at least it's fixed.

That is a HUGE load off my shoulders. Thanks. I'll check it out tomorrow morning.

I was performing a float level adjustment on my Holley 390 2.4 today. After having adjusted the idle mixture screws and the float, I gave the car a rev to see if there's any stumbling or hesitation. I give it a fraction of a second of 3/4 throttle and I hear a LOUD screech sound. I do it a second time hoping to identify where it came from, but I wasn't able to tell. It was around 3000-4000 rpm, I had about 20 psi of oil pressure, and the engine was around 130 degrees. Any ideas? This is my daily driver, so I'm pretty worried.

I haven't seen this one yet, I'll check it out tonight, thanks.

I watch a lot of his videos, and they always come out in such nice quality, kind of the opposite of mine. If I film with anything over 1080p and 30 fps, it crashes, freezes, forces me to pull out the battery, and the videos sometimes get corrupt or are choppy. I'm using a 32 GB SDHC X card, and it handles 1080p at 60 fps just fine on other devices. I got the GoPro Hero 3 black and the suction cup. Edit: Just watched my two roof mounted videos. They sucked, wind noise galore. Also, the ride is really hard on my car, and the camera was bouncing all over the place. I'll probably still upload them, but you might get motion sickness lol.

Thanks. I've gotten into the habit of kicking the gas when I'm downshifting, it makes it much smoother with my hard suspension. I'll take it into consideration. I might return the GoPro, I'm pretty unhappy with it. It's a lot of money for a camera that keeps crashing and corrupting my videos. I wish the camera would pick up the downrev, it sounds really nice.

Thanks. I'm at school and going home in a while, I'll still stick it on the roof. I like the rear quarter panel because it captures the exhaust sound really well.

I got a GoPro yesterday and put it to use. I thought I'd share one of the clips with you guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbtS8S89DRk

I looked at their other seats, it's pretty unfortunate that there isn't something with more bolstering than the drag seat and less than the road race seat. Depending on how tall you are, it's not THAT bad. If you get in and out of the car a lot in the same day, it tends to get annoying, especially if you're tall. I'm pretty short, but I have back problems because of a previous accident (35 mph t-bone on my driver door), so getting in and out frequently isn't too pleasant. If I only get in once and stay sitting in the car for a while, it's alright, even with the bolstering. The 47 seems to have quite a bit more bolstering than my seats, though. Note: I will add that even though the seats are sometimes painful and annoying, I REALLY appreciate them when I go around corners, it feels so much nicer with shoulder bolsters. Oh, and also, if you slide your seat back every time you want to get out of the car, it makes it much easier. I don't want a removable wheel either, and I like to sit fairly close to the wheel, which makes it tricky to get out. I just slide it back and it's a lot easier on the back.

Even if you don't plan on road racing a lot, the shoulder bolsters are so nice to have. My GTI had Corbeau seats with no shoulder bolstering, and it was nowhere near as nice to go around a corner as it is in the Z. The Z has Corbeau TRS seats with pretty good bolstering. Even on the street, it makes such a big difference. Like Blu said, the huge bolsters on the 47 will make it pretty terrible to get in and out of. My Corbeau seats are already bad enough, and the bolstering is far smaller than the 47.

Filled it up again. Also made a Lexus SC300 feel inferior at a red light just by sitting there and idling. He felt the urge to show off so he just took off when it turned green.

This applies to many things. I was reading up about AC today because my friend's car lost pressure, I refilled it and got the clutch to engage again, but it still wouldn't blow cold. One of the websites had a list of steps to check for faults, and it said that if you're reading this, you should probably take it to a professional. Very true, I'm useless at AC repair. Also... 3.9: Airbags: All airbags must be disarmed and removed, and all airbag housings must be open for inspection at tech. (Remember, airbag removal can be really dangerous--please try not to blow your damn fool head off. If you don't know what you're doing, call in an expert. Let him blow HIS damn fool head off.)

I'm looking to upgrade to an 8" wheel from a 7". I have a bit of room (.5-.75 inches) between the wheel and the strut, and about an inch between the wheel and the fender. I'm gonna try to find a friend with a 8" 114.3 wheel and mock it up and see how it goes. You shouldn't have too much of an issue going to 8".

Don't worry about it, zguitar, I took no offense. I'm starting to toy with the whole coilover idea. I wonder how much better the handling could get if I put some more money into it. I just bought a new set of tires which are much grippier than my current set. I'm interested to see how the handling will be.
-
Are there any downsides to this, besides a harsh ride? The car actually handles pretty well.

Sorry, meant to say springs, not coilovers. No, like a regular onion. It started as a joke during a go-kart event. Someone asked what I wanted my nickname should be so they can show my score on the CCTV as the race went on. I jokingly said "onion, because my lap times will make them cry." It stuck lol. Also, I know that you have to cut off the perch and move it down if you plan on running this kind of setup, unless you run a very short and tight spring. Does this seem like it was cut and moved, or is it at the stock position? I've never had the stock Z suspension parts in my hands (previous owner did this), so I can't really reference it easily.

I can't figure out what these are for the life of me... I've asked a couple friends, all of which have no idea. Maybe someone on here recognizes these?

Added a quart of oil. Again. This thing drinks oil, I need to fix that. I also checked all 6 plugs (fouled), cleaned them up, adjusted the timing, and now she runs and pulls harder than ever. It's still slow as all hell because it's a 2.4, but it runs a lot smoother.
-
I love all these stories lol. People always think I have a 350 under the hood because of the really lopey cam and deep sound of my 2.4, so they think they're clever by trying to take me onto highway on-ramps. I just follow, tail them comfortably while their tires are screaming, pass them, and fly away on the off-ramps. Our ramps do a 3/4 turn to merge onto the highway, which gives plenty of room to pull away if you can out-handle them.

What makes it totaled? Seems just cosmetic if I'm honest. RIP, always sad to lose a car. I still miss my Mustang, some idiot plowed into my driver door at 35 mph.
-
He didn't even take the time to saw the bottom of the wood at an angle that way it's at least SLIGHTLY more effective at holding up his truck. I'm astonished.
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm gonna be sticking it where I've always had it - before the pump.
-
I'm about to replace my fuel filter, but I'm reading lots of differing opinions online. Some say before the pump to protect the pump, some say after the pump to protect the carb in case the pump gets damaged. I'm running the stock mechanical fuel pump which then goes to a Holley carb. So, filter before, after, or does it not matter? Also, how do we swap out the filters on these cars? I know that in newer cars you pull the fuel pump fuse and let the engine suck up all the remaining fuel so it doesn't make a mess. Do we just pinch a fuel line and run the engine (but isn't it bad for the pump?)? Or do we just make a big mess and have fuel pour everywhere? Thanks in advance.

Lol. My cam is ruining my gas mileage, it's one of the MSA race cams. Nice power, nice redline, but such bad gas mileage...
