Scottie I had a volvo 4dr with a 383 v8 and 175shot of nos that would run 10.6@131mph
12.0@117mph motor
The car was alot of fun to drive around, I use to drive it in SanAntonio, Austin, and waco alot.
My 2nd volvo was a white 4dr with a 1998 vortec 350v8 all stock with a small cam, it would run 13's all day on radials.

Scottie what are you going to use for the rear end? It is looking good. My next car is going to be a 93 rx7 with a ls1/t56 trans.

I am using the q45 diff in my car with very good results. The r230 from the 300zxtt might be a harder swap.

I am not sure that the conversion parts from the q45 will work for your r230 from the 300zxtt. I now think that the q45 is a r200 and not a r230, the r230 from the 300zxtt is wider. It would be nice if the q45 parts would work.
maichor has some pics of both diffs side by side.
Take a look

Cyrus, are you going to use the r200 now? I thought that you where going to use the supra rear end.

1) Upgrade the brakes which I'm in progress on now.
2) Redo the interior in a custom color combination leather and carpet.
3) Install a nice sound system and about 50lbs. of Dynamat.
4) Get it repainted to freshen up the 6-yr old paint.
5) Chrome plate and/or powder coat many of the vbare items under my hood.
1) Right now I am installing willwood 13" 6 piston brakes
2) Interior is on the list
3) I have 2 layers of dynamat in the car, I even have it inside the door. This is a must for a Zcar
4) Paint--- I will have this done in a few months--A must

bpatrol let me know if you need springs. I just put coil overs on my car and I now have a set of Arizona Z-car sport springs that i donot need.

Joey the headers are 13/4" tubes. So fare they have been good for 405RWHP.

Mark you need to trim the part that extends out past the alternator. I thought that you where not going to uses Johns car kit because of the WRX power steering? If you make your own mounts move the motor back 1-2" over the Johns car kit.

I run the same size drag radial on my car and I have found 12 psi to work the best. They are good for 1.5 to 1.6 60'.

Corzette, I am using an aftermarket sway bar and I leave it on the car at all times. I am using 200lb front springs and 225 rear springs.
If you get your 60' down to 1.5-1.6 you will run 11's.
-
Hot-rice, you are right about lifting tires. I have run a best of 11.1 and my front tires are light but on the ground.
-
Mike 2365lbs that is light. My 72 240z was 2575lbs last time on the scale without me being in it. That is with a full cage, full tank of gas, and subframe connectors.
-
I am using Tim's adapters on my r230 swap. I do not see how the axle or the cage could travel past the cap. I would like to make sure, right now I am setting the suspension up for road racing.

I have a nice cold air intake, and 13/4" headers. I am using a auto trans so a t56 should make more power.
-
cyrus how much do you want for the dash?

4" bore? Looks like I need a ls2 block for when I build my stroker motor.

Lt1 is good motor, but if you are looking at making 450hp do not waste your time with the lt1. It will cost you less to make 450hp out of a ls1 vs a lt1.
LT1 mods
heads
cam
1.6rr
52mm tb
320rwhp
11.8@114
Ls1 mod
cam
ported tb
Under drive pulley
398rwhp with old cam 405rwhp with new cam
11.1@122.8mph
Good luck

The 4l60e fits with very minor pounding in the 240z.

Phantom, both cars have drive shaft loops. Both cars have the r230 swap in them with cv's. Johns car is going to have the cam installed this week.
LS1 cam swap.
The nice thing about the LS1 when doing the cam swap is,
You do not have to pull off the intake,or the lifters. Just spin the cam 3 times and the lifters will stay up. You will need better springs, but I put them in when I did the old cam.

Zfan---I had to find out the hard way but this is how you find out what works. With my old cam I had more power than I could use, looks like it will be time for some better tires.

David, Johns Ls1 is all stock. Just good headers and intake. Ls1 run good stock, he has the 01 motor so they come with the better heads and intake.
Dale, My old cam is a MTI C2 224 224 .581 .581 112
The new cam is a X1 230 227 .591 .571 114
I am running a Vigilante 2800 rpm stall torque converter, I thought that I would be ok with a light car.
I am using
Manley 221423-16 valve springs for stock head applications
Manley 23632-16 titanium valve spring retainers for Manley 221423-16 springs
My max torque was 350lb with the old cam I had too much low end so I wanted to put a cam in with more top end. Looks like it did not work for me. I used LS1 edit to tune it on the dyno. The good news is that it only takes 1 hour to change the cam back to the old one.
I am shifting @ 6600
Who has a for sure R230 in their Z?

My Q45 diff looks small compared to a ttr230. I hope that my q45 is a r230. But I have used and abused my q45 diff and it holds up just fine. One of these days I might put NOS on my car and give it a try.
