I know that this is off subject, but does anyone have a step by step instruction on how to R&R a timing belt on a 86 300zx?

plainswolf This board has been very helpfull to me also. Here are some pics with the old exhaust vs new exaust.
trickz I have the tank as high as it can go.

I decided to go with a 99-2004 LS1 gas tank out of a Camaro. Doing this swap will let me run dual exhaust on both sides of the gas tank, Notice in the picture the cut out for the exhaust. I am also doing this swap so that I can now have a very quite fuel pump, my old walbro was very loud.

Cyrus, looks like you could just make some mounts for the Toyota diff and then adapt the toyota axle to the Datsun companion flange. You may not need to use all of the toyota suspension.
Right now my Ls1 is making 405rwhp and 432RWtq---Turn you boost up to 20psi and then it will be fun.
Good luck at the track my guess is 12.7-13.1 @112-114mph

Mike, I have always put a weld on the pick up tube. I have never trusted the press in pick up for my motors. What are your plans on the motor? I hope that you get it up and running again.

Go with the 3.8 turbo motor, The 3.8 just fits in the Z alot better than the Toyota. If you want it for drag then go with the 3.8 because the 2004r trans is a excellent transmission for 1/4 mile runs. I would hate to drive a Z car with a heavy Toyota motor up front. I think that Cyrus said that Toyota motor was 200lb more than the LS1. My only concern with the 3.8 turbo motor would be that it does not like to rev too much, and you might run into problems with the right gears. The Toyota motor would be at home with the stock 3.54 gears.

80LT1, I am going to start this swap in November or December. I have alot of work left on my 240z.
Scottie-GNZ---what RX7 forum? How is the Your RX7 going?
JustAFantaZ Why where you looking up the price of the RX7? Are you looking for a new project? I have always liked the 3rd gen rx7 body, do you remember the 93 RX7 that I use to race on military Dr in my 1st v8 280z back in late 1992?
I just droped off my 240z at the body shop, so that will give me some time to work on the RX7.

Tim what does Mas-moneybags mean?? I thought $3900 was good deal for this car. I bought it from a old guy that had the motor rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. He said that the car just stoped running when he was driving. I am going to try and get the stock motor up and running, so far the fuel pump does not turn on. This car had been sitting for 11/2 years.

It took me a year to find one, but I found a 93 RX7 tt in good shape for cheap. My plans are to put in a 2001 LS1/t56 trans in this car. I also want ac/ps I want for this to be a very nice car. Anyone out there looking for a complete 13btt/5-speed swap for a z or a 510?
I paid $3900 for the car.

Congrats Joey, just let me know when you want to do some tunning.

Tim That is the Walbro gl392. I am going to take out the fuel system that I have and replace it with the Camaro plastic fuel tank. I have alot of work and very little time to work on my car.

The seats are out of a Mazda Miata. So far I like all of the Arizona Z Car parts, no complaints. I have thought about the weight of the Rinoliner mat but I think that it will be a nice sound deedner.
I am the shorter guy in the pic, John is the 6'8" tall guy that has a hard time getting into his LS1z.

Tim it was just last Sunday that I was on the 1/4 mile strip. I plan on taking the undercarriage down to metal and then seeling it with a apoxy primer then I will take it to a spray booth and have the linex or rinoliner sprayed on. I am going to use the same stuff that they use on the beds.

Last sunday I got hit in the rear on my way back from the track. So I decided to get my car ready for the paint. I also wanted to detail, paint, rinoliner the undercarriage. John came over tonight to help out. It sure is nice to have the car on the rotisary.

Congratulation Cyrus on the swap. I hope that you keep this one longer than the ls1 swap.

The 98 motor heads will now flow as good as the 02 heads. David I would use a 3.5" intake, I would not do a v8 swap and then try to take some of the power away from it. I had to enlarge the hole to fit the 3.5" intake.

Is it better to hammer it out or just have a new panel welded in?
-
I was rearended today on my way home from the track. I was going to wait until winter to paint my car, but I guess now I have to have it painted.
My rear bumper was pushed into the rear body panel. I saw that MSA sells a new rear panel to weld in. Has anyone ever had this done before, and any advise on what I should do.
Thanks

Cyrus I have never had a problem with the 280 stub axles. I drive my car very hard, and run it at the track alot.
