i can def see where this would be annoying. maybe not a name change, but a logo change would fix this???

i don't know what it is about nuts and bolts, but my biggest client is one of the biggest screw distributors in the country. the guy who started and still owns the company has so much money it's ridiculous. if u saw him on the street u would think he is homeless, but he has been in fortune magazine. the mark-up on screws and bolts is so high it's crazy. they get these things for fractions of fractions of a cent and sell them for 100s of times more. it's a good business to be in i guess.

i'm an accountant, so just getting out of tax season i can give u some advice. ANY charitable contributions are being looked at by the IRS. So if you do not have a receipt, a cancelled check, a statement from the organization WITH THE VALUE OF THE DONATED PROPERTY, you will be SOL if you get audited. For any NONCASH contributions (which this would most likely be) you have to disclose a little more information. Specifically, the name and address of the organization, when you acquired the property and for how much, and how the value of the property was determined when it was donated. Just make sure to have all of your bases covered. If you do not have a lot of other schedule A deductions (enough to exceed the standard deduction) such as mortgage interest, real estate tax, state taxes, medical expenses, business expenses, than it will not be worth it. For example, if you just have a W-2, you will not be able to claim the deduction. If you itemize, it will help you out a little.

thanks for all of your help. i got it for $56 for 100' of 1" diameter. not to bad. got it from http://www.currentsource.com. i ordered before the Loews idea came about, not sure how much it would've been there.

they guy i got mine from already powder coated most of the trim. looks pretty sweet.

i'm pretty sure with that alpine, you can't control the ipod when it is plugged in. hence the whole idea of integrating the ipod with alpine's interface. i have an alpine with the ipod interface that i bought 2 years ago, and the ipod 's screen changes to an alpine logo and the only way u can control it is through the head unit. if u want to use the ipod to control your songs in your car, maybe look at a wired fm modulator or just an fm transmitter. that way u can hide the stereo (and spend less money on a cheaper stereo) and just spend like 50 bucks for an fm modulator and fm transmitter (u need both to work the ipod). The fm modulator works great. i use it for my sirius and in my girlfriends car for my ipod, but u need to have the fm transmitter working as well. no static, and pretty clear sound.

looks good. almost the same paint scheme as mine. i like the mirrors, but i think i'm looking for something a little more "closer" to the car. Kinda like bullet style mirrors, but i'm not sure if i want to go with them. thanks for the ideas.

the question remains, nylon the best for automotive use? or am i missing something?
-
i'm currently looking for sideview mirrors for my 260. if anyone has some nice ones that they feel like posting, please do. i'm trying to get a feel for how all the different types would look. I am looking at the black satin finish bullet mirrors currently, but don't know how they would look on my yellow car. any suggestions?

that's actually the stereo i'm looking to put in my 260. why would you want to totally hide the radio, it would be kinda difficult to use the ipod and radio controls if it's somewhere out of sight?

Polyurethane suspension bushings
drdiabetezx66x replied to jasper's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
looks like the previous owner of mine already put the poly bushings in! nice! -
Anyone know where I can get black corregated split wire loom (prob 1") to do the wiring harness for my 260? I've been looking and the cheapest (nylon) I found was 43 cents a foot. Is nylon the best for automotive use. There is some cheaper stuff out there, but I'm not sure if the material would hold up. Polyethylene i believe is the cheaper stuff.

well we totally stripped out the interior of the parts car, and now my Z has been totally stripped (of parts) on the inside. I still need to try and get off the tar that's on the floor of the car before I put in the sound deadener. or should I just leave the stuff there? it seems to be breaking away and is brittle in a lot of spots. i'd like to clean it up, but if there are good reasons to keep it, i might just leave it alone. Also found that the previous owner put new poly bushings througout the car. also looks like new struts, springs, and most likely shocks. it also came with A LOT of new weather stripping. Going to save me a lot of money. -
decided to go with the e-dead. at a buck per/sq foot, it's pretty cheap and i have read some good things about it. i guess we'll see. things are moving along nicely and Tmart (my dad) thinks we can have the car running in about 2 months.
-
has anyone ever used dynOmat? It's only 99 bucks for 150 sq feet
-
My 260 has nothing as far as firewall protection or sound deadening material. Is the dynomat stuff the most economical while still being pretty effective to use over the entire interior? including the firewall? or should I find something else for that?

spent most of yesterday afternoon and going to spend the rest of today stripping the dash and everything behind it out of a white 280Z my dad picked up awhile back. Things are moving along nicely. With a little luck, we'll be transplanting the motor and trans in the next couple weeks out of the Blue 280 that he is putting the TPI (or LS1 when it comes along). -
me to, because then it can go toward a new exaust for mine...since that was the exaust of the motor i was gettin... oh yeah, and i'll have pics of the exaust up at some point tonight between periods of the rangers beating on the devils
-
sounds like a good plan, i'm sure he's up for it.

Well, I figured I would start posting some pics of my project. The car came pretty much as is. New tires and wheels are pretty nice. No motor or trans. It does have some new weather stripping and a new windshield as well. paint is okay for now, but will be re done in a few years probably. Since the car has already be pretty much torn down, i started today by getting the car out from the corner it was in (behind my dad's 280Z) and took all of the parts it came with out from inside. It was a long day and still kinda cold in jersey, so I just took the old dash out of the car to get it ready for the newly covered dash from a parts car my dad has. I will also be taking all of the new carpets and seats from that car as well. Probably going to end up taking the blue 280Z motor my dad has and 5 speed trans since he is going to put the TPI he has in that one, or an LS1 if he comes across it. We also have to cut the trans mounts and the spare tire well out since they guy who owned it was going to put a V8 in it, and a fuel cell. Here are some various pictures from today. after taking out the dash... scary isn't it???
-
u still comin by? i might start organizing some parts for my Z Sunday

Here is my dad's gem 260Z. He can tell you specifics once I have the pics here...pretty close to being on the road. Mostly stock.
