  1. Hmmm, you could just be hearing your injectors firing. Nothing wrong with that. On my 280 with brand new bosch injectors, the injectors are more more noticible at certain RPMs. For me, high idle when it's still cold. If you had timing set problems / poor valve adjustment it would get progressivly worse with higher rpms.

    lol just about to say that... seeing hes gone from carbs (i assume) on the L24 to the L28e, injector tapping might be new to him...

  3. Well Im in highschool right now, so there is not a huge demand for me to get a high paying job. I make money to work on my car, the rate at which I make money increases/decreases the amount of work done on my car.

     

    My point was purely that for some $260 is hardly anything. I was just saying its quite a bit for me.

     

    By the way love the new sig. :)

    my situation too but i would be raising hell for $260 that was rightfully mine...

     

    and yeah the sig has been changing recently...

    and for the question...

     

    -if you have outrageous money go for the rb swap and get some help(like a shop that knows what they are doing)

    -if you have ok money and a basic knoledge and you think you can diy, i do give warning (this could be a crapshoot of you money)

    -if your low on money and you have basic skills swaping the l28et is pretty simple

    -or if you have no money and little skill (like me) dont mess with anything!!!!!!(like me)

     

    some people can do the rb swaps on a budget but they really know what they are doing and they have the "hook ups"

     

     

    moral of the story is that you can know what a er34 is(btw i have no idea why you would want an engine out of an er34 when there are more r34s sitting in japan and i doubt you would get a rb25 from an er34, its more likely to come from a r32), or you can tell all you buddies nissan engine codes on the top of your head, but if you dont have a good shop or money to burn these motor swaps are going to just be day dreams you get in Algebra III (or at least thats my case)

  6. Somehow you are feeding the constant 12 volt for the hazards back into the the fuse box. Are the hazards and blinkers working correctly?

    you got it right, i went out and looked into the wiring(the PO had all kinds alarms and horns and crap wired in to the lights and everything) i thought i had all of it back to origanal but i missed 2 wires spliced together, removed the connector, pluged in my hazard light switch and it worked

  7. I've seen one in person.. sat in it when it was for sale here in Washington. What a mess though.

     

    they are the same. Red dash like any red interrior 280ZX. All power options basically. They have a special emblem in front of the shifter. Silver like a Turbo Z but it says 10th on it and has the car's number.

    BLEACH GO TO YOUR CAR AND TURN THE HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH ON!!!!

  8. sorry for the thread jack (although i did get the parts at a junk yard)

     

    CAN SOME ONE GO OUT...

     

    to their 280zx and turn on the hazard lights w/o the key in the iginition

     

     

    when you come back can you answer me this riddle,

     

    when you turn on you hazard light switch, does the car turn on? exaple: fuel pump turns on, and you can use power windows...

     

    like if you turned the key past acc. into the ON position...

     

    i have checking both of my parents fords and the only thing that comes on when the hazard light switch is on, is the blinkers....

     

    this is the contraption i built out of a 79 hazard light switch harness and an 81 hazard light switch...

  9. the dash is different in this car.

    what other 280's has a dash like that, i would definitly do a swap for something like that

    its a diff car, but it did take a while for me to realize it was a 300zx

     

    notice the diff. in steering wheels, i thought it was a z31 interior swap till i saw that

     

     

    im going to a j-yard tomarrow with a suposed 4 ZX's!!! im sooooo excited

    lol very sraight? look at that first pic at the door jams and front fender, mabe the frame is alright, looks like the left front wheel came off by the way the pannels look ripped up

     

    but it looks like there are alot of salvageable parts on the car though...

  11. In all my 1 1/2 years of experiance with my NA 81 280zx i have never heard or read of this BCDD(except for the altitude application), nor have i ever felt this rpm stall in deceleration(my rpms fall straight to 800 or 1000 depending on engine temp)

     

    i do get an ever so slight backfire or surge when coasting to a stop in gear(but i belive its a leak in my mannifold)

     

    to the FSM i go for the rest of the night...

     

    EDIT: how long does this rpm dec. stall last? 1/2 a second or more?

  13. I think the NA model had a knock sensor as well. I'll check my 81' NA tomorrow for the knock sensor. I don't think it matters much though, as the ECU didn't do much with it anyways.

     

    no NA's didnt have one, big-phil knows because he had to tap a hole for one(go youtube!!!) and they just noted that so he could identify the block as turbo or NA...

  14. Sounds like you may be ahead of the game if you yank the sound system and sell the car. Find a non auto Turbo that needs paint and interior.

    Get the car mechanically up to your wants/needs and then concentrate on aesthetics and entertainment.

    You are going to get beat up leaving a sound system that is worth more than the car. Non auto Turbo's can be found cheap, here is one example in Atlanta http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/968078129.html

    WHOA!!! thats probly a little more trouble than you want to dip your whick in, sounds all good to go but, just dont

     

    but if you have money(as it kind of sounds you do) look at a motor swap(wait, do your research btw your at hybrid z the motor swap HQ) and see what you want

     

    mabe get a 2JZ-GTE to go with that tranny...
