  1. Yep, Tunercat is great, I got 411 RW out of my LT1 with it, but I'm hoping to find something for a Z engine or something transplantable for the short term without costing me 3g. Something to road race with for awhile, without being a ridiculous amount of power to even TRY to control.

    LS-1 Headers

Clearance in a Z28 is damn near impossible, and from what I've seen of V8s in Zs its even worse - in other words, block hugger only You may be able to stretch them out with a header kit, or get a custom set made, but damn, how is plug access going to be, I HATED doing plugs on my Z28 for that reason, with even worse access... hours of swearing and bloody knuckles.

    rev limit?

Revs will eat bearings/rings etc faster, plus causes more harmonic distortion, which is often why its not recommended. 2 bolt mains on an SBC for instance, wont like seeing above 7k. I've done 7k in an LT1 which is a 2 bolt main (except for the LT4/Vette block).
  4. I have software for my Chevy car ( www.tunercat.com ) the cables and etc, but is anyone here actually doing thier own computer programming, or are you limited to using 'professional' tuners only? In my experience mail order tuning is a serious crap shot, nothing is ever optimized where I prefer to sit and do the work on the dyno myself, MINUS the $1500+ DFI/FAST etc setups. If you are programming your own gear, which cars have EEPROMs and which must use a PROM burner? Thanks!
  5. A bit hard to dicern, but definately a quick car! I ran a 234/246 (Isky) in my LT1 V8, and loved it. It was streetable even in a heavy 3400 pound car with 3.42 gears, and figure a little low end loss in a 2200-2400 pound Z is no big deal
  6. Do any of you folks have Engine Analyzer or Destkop Dyno files to play with? I haven't been able to find any straight 6 files on the net, for stock or other Datsun setups.
  7. I'm a fan of NA V8s (love that rump a dump idle), but haven't heard a straight 6 with a biggy cam. Anyone have any files? I've tried searching and can't find anything but turbos and mild cams.
  8. Alot of cars are like that and it shouldn't cause any problems, usually the exaust valves, the LT4 for instance. If they are having problems with the valves its a design issue on wall thickness or MFG tollerances (which would be a supprise).
