  1. I will be sure to compare my lap times when I get the chance.
  2. Look at those meats http://www.conceptcarz.com/folder/photo.asp?car_id=2199&picID=6440
  3. Vented rotors would be so nice to have, what kind of wheels are you running?
  4. With the weight of your car, I think your best bet of getting there without an $$$ NA engine, is to get a turbo engine swapped in your car. Thanks to a local guy I picked up a turbo car for $150, not everyone will get deals like that but honestly with a 2800 pound or so car, its going to take some power to get into the 12s. The big numbers like 340 HP being quoted for an NA car, are high revving rebuilt, high compression race gas setups. I believe that one could get close to 300 HP or so on pump gas, but I haven't seen more than 287, and even that in a little cube engine is going to be peaky requiring a good gearset out back, and dont expect gas mileage to be delicious with a big cammed engine either. I was just about set on a V8, but for several reasons went back to the Turbo idea, and here I am. Also, are you looking for 12s on street tires or slicks? Thats going to make a difference as well.
  5. 16x7" versus 16x9.5", for a race setup there is no decision for me, I want big. There is nothing that big that costs less, unless I adapt them from a Vette or similar, in which case I'm going to end up sending more getting them to work (they wont), and they are heavier to boot. Its much less than a $1600+ set of custom wheels, what is not cheap about it? Yes it will still cost alot, whats why I'm stuck with my 15x7" for now, eventually though, I want big.
  6. Wow, I heard crow meat tastes, icky! LoL
  7. I think it depends how much work you want to do. There is megasquirt for a fuel setup, there is also the GM Typhoon computer which I was thinking of using, or there is ECCS as noted above. http://imflame.ricetek.net/~darkhalf/ Check under the ECCS link for info.
  8. I was comparing it to the one I saw on some other show, and they claimed it was a midsize pump <--- I didn't know they allowed remote linking
  9. The truck carries waste that sits in a porta-pottie for probably at least a week if not more, before cleaning, so you can imagine it was not exactly veggie juice. After it broke though the windshield, well, she swallowed. Another horrible way to die a local guy witnessed, a semi blew a tire tread and the tread flew through someones windshield beheading them. This came up in a discussion where I told my story about watching a ladder on a windy day, in the back of a truck. The wonderfully intelligent fellow decided not to tie it down, so I'm watching it drift in the back of the open truck, and can tell its a cheap and very light aluminum ladder, so I back off. Sure enough about 30 seconds later it takes flight and I had to stop in my lane. Moral of both stories, EXPECT THE WORST, I dont give a flying frig how ridiculous it may sound, as a security enthusiast you must hope for the best but prepare for the unexpected worst! Dont tailgait a much larger vehicle, or a vehicle with loose items in the back, or probably one with thuggish looking teens.
  10. Kodak/Wang imaging can compress, it works ok.
  11. I ran into http://www.irfanview.com not long ago, dont use it a ton, but it works for cutting size down via compression or pixel wise also
  12. I know I know, wheels/tires/suspension is easily over 2k, but the bigger car costs even more to setup!
  13. Ahh, yes I know some deals like that from time to time, but in my puny 15x7" size it would be hard to come by for me. I imagine I am going to have to get a mini trailer at some point, since with a cage I dont see me going to an event with 4 wheels/tires in the car, unless I DRIVE that way, which means Kumhos or a Yoko
  14. I am looking forward to Kumhos, Hoosiers will be too much for me, money/wear wise, and probably just plain too much for me in terms of warning before I go sideways I have never run on a race tire before, it is going to make me crap my pants for SURE! Coming from a much heavier car, you guys dont know the grip the Z has compared to domestics, well some of you dont I hear people bitch about 240Z brakes? YOU DONT KNOW SUCK till you add another 1000 pounds WITH THE SAME BRAKES! You may laugh but I'm being serious These cars live for corners
  15. Crap, I didn't see that one, I guess I'm glad I didn't.
  16. Almost every single day when I drive the car, I wish I could throw it harder. About the only times I dont feel that way is when I'm dead dog tired, from doing just that at a real track! Even with my "crappy" 300 treadwear 195 skinnies, this car sticks like a mean mother. Totally neutral handling so far and the rear is so damn friendly, so much warning ahead of time. It makes me question if I really need to stiffen up the springs at all, even though I love stiff suspensions. I figure when I get race rubber I will want more, until then its great. So I understand the street thing. On a side note, I was just overhearing today that there is a supposedly major pollution problem in prague, they could have been hippies though, and in that case, there is pollution everywhere!
  17. You guys can honestly use all that stopping power? I know a guy who with 225 Kumho V700s can stand on his brakes, with my 195 wide 300 treadwear street rubber, I just freaking slide with steel lines and stock brakes. 4 piston versus two would provide better pad wear characteristics, but you dont need much bias in the rear, so thats the most benefit it provides. Someday I will have the tire to need more braking
  18. I heard some lady ran into the back of a truck that cleans out porta-potty units, and died from swallowing you know what, after busting the truck open...
  19. No kidding, I can bench 345 but applying that to real world is never the same as in the gym with a nice little bar to push, plus the fact its still not enough. If you could stick a foot in there, and push with another foot....
  20. Gorilla or Baboon I forget, I guess a Baboon since Gorillas are HUGE, oops. Anyhow I agree, if they aren't eating it, which I suspect, then I think they should shoot at stationary targets or make up some robots of thier own. If they were relatively lax about it, I'm sure the lions/hyenas of the area would take care of the dead, but it still doesn't sit well with me.
  21. I saw a trailer on the net, its out there somewhere. I guess its kind of neat but I didn't see enough to make me go gaga over it. 287 HP in a 3350 pound car... can I take my nap now? I am not putting down the Z, it is what it is, but it is not a super car and I do not drool over it in any way at all. I will add it does sound kind of cool though. The Z06 is great, that gets me a little more stirred up, but still its not going to make me dump my pants watching a video of one. If you get to ride with a really fast driver on the track, then you have something to write home about. I'd much rather own a used C5 than a 350Z, FWIW.
  22. They shoot a gorilla out of a tree, I dont think they ate it...
