My 280zx saved my tush once or twice as well!!!

Could I gain performance by replacing my 79zx's ecu with one of a newer ZX, has any one tried this, harmful maybe???

Very Nice! I have the exact same car and its been my daily for 4 years now and i look forward to driving errrrrday =) But yah if i were you first thing would be suspension work. I have the tokico shock and lowering spring set up and they are very nice. Also, i installed the Technotoytuning adjustable tension rods and they made a world of difference on how the feels under moderate and heavy breaking. for about $225 very well worth it.

I have used a crank balancer from an 83zx on my daily driven 79zx and have had no problems with it, its been about a year now!! Also, the washer used is different along with the timing indicator the bolts to the block. Might want to see if the indicator from the 79 can be used on you car. I had swap the indicator on my 79zx to accommodate the crank balancer from the 83zx to fit.

I am in need of a right front fender for my 1979 280zx and can get one for 35 dollars from a Hybrid Z member. My question is will a right front fender from a 1983 280zxt 2+2 fit on my 1979 280zx????? Anyone knowledge is appreciated!

I pulled this center consult and radio out of a friends 280z maybe it could work for you!

Hey i have A clean center consult and some rear plastic parts from a 280z im trying to get rid of them because i have no use for them. ill give you the center consult and every plastic part i have for 20 bucks but im not sure if they will be the same for a 260z here are some pics.

Wow Thanks! i will look into every one of those things, and yes i have the Nissan service manual for it and i have been reading into things. Im going to clean the throttle boddy this weekend. I have gutted the hole car and removed everything that to do with the ac. the A/C vacuum valve could be sticking could be sticking because i have had the car jutted for a while and never had this problem.

Im not 100% sure but i really dont think that synthetic oil would be the cause for the smoke, oil is oil. The only thing i could think of is that synthetic can tend to leak sometimes from older motors because it can be thiner sometimes as opposed to your standard oil maybe its leaking from the head gasket or something. What was the weight of the oil 10-40 or 10-30 or something like that.

Yes i have 280zx, I have unfortunately been using the wrong name for it then, it is the kind of large part before the throttle body and after the air filter. It has the flap in it that opens as air is drawn into the engine. hopefully you know what i am talking about. My car idles high sometimes, randomly at about 1000 rpms when it usually idles at about 700 rpms i have check everything and i am out of things to check so i wanted to clean this part to see if it would solve my problem. I would really appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Dose anyone have advice or has anyone cleaned and serviced their mass air flow sensor. Should i even clean it?? if so how?

bought my 79 280zx from an old man who had it sitting in his garage for 12 years! he said he started it about once a year and it smoked a little when i got it. drove it around for about an hour and it cleared up. good luck with it

You might want to check the cars voltage with a multi meeter. the volt gauge in the car could be malfunctioning. I have a 79 280zx and i ran the voltage from my car through a multi meter just to check it and my factory volt gauge is off by a few volts. just a thought.

Daily driver is 79 280zx i have a clunk somewhere in the front suspension. I have replaced all tie rod ends, ball joints, bushings,and idler arm bushings. I am getting a loud clunk only when a make you turns or jerk the wheel very hard and sometimes under hard breaking. Dose anyone think that the shock bearings could be making this clunk?
