  1. Yea, if you have anything left over, I'll try and buy some stuff! lol But nice finds so far! You are a very lucky person! lol
  2. Oh okay, because the site I found said that they were flattops, so I was under the impression that they were... Thanks for straightening it up for me though!
  3. Really? I thought the turbo motors had flat top pistons?
  4. My car is a '79, and I'm looking (sometime in the future) 350whp... And I'm going to be building this motor as I earn money, I want to build it the right way, and I have no problem driving it N/A for a while until I get this motor built Also, would it be alright for me to build the motor this way, put it in the car with stock components otherwise, and run it like that for a while, while I modify the outer parts of the motor (turbo, injectors, etc.)?
  5. Finally took some pics of the engine bay and interior! Have fun!
  6. Hey, I've been doing some research on the engine that I want to build for my 280ZX... I want to go turbo, and I want to throw lots of boost at this car when I get the motor built... I found that the '77-'80 motors had dished pistons (you already know that) and the P79/P90 heads have larger combustion chambers than the other heads (you already know that, too) And I was wondering if it would be a good idea to mate the early motor, with the dished pistons with the late model large chamber heads (I read somewhere that it would hurt the quench in the head) for a lower static compression ratio? I also plan to do some mild porting/ polishing work on the head, as well;-) So do guys have any thoughts on this? Thanks!
  7. I don't know if this is okay, but I thought I'd post an update on my car! My car is a '79 280ZX with the following mods: late model taillights, headlight covers, under bumper foglights (just put them on today!), changed the old turbine rims for a set of the stock six spoke rims, catalytic removed (previous owner did it) with stock piping going into a Flowmaster muffler, a cone filter, MSD Blaster 3 coil, painted some of the underhood components, and removed alot of the vacuum lines... I think that about does it! lol Now time for the pics! And a video!
  8. I don't mean to go off topic, but what is a bcdd? Is that a turbo thing? lol, my car's N/A, so I don't know Is your car turbo or N/A? But when my car is cold, and I hit the gas quicky (yea, you shouldn't do that, but oh well ) it has a small backfire... And from what I know, a backfire is unburned fuel leaving the engine and getting burned in the hot exhaust, creating the "POP" and sometimes a flame... But that's just what I've heard...
  9. Okay, thanks so much!!!! That's what I was hoping to hear! lol My dad's really good with wiring, so I'll try to get him to help, but I won't be able to get the swap for a long time, just tryin to gather info. Thank you again!
  10. Hey, I've been reading up on doing an RB swap into my 280ZX for a couple of months, especially after I got it running again with its stock L28E... But there is one thing (probably more, but I'll get to that later ) that is unclear for me... It's the amount of wiring I would have to do, because I was just planning on using the stock ECU and harness, but would I be able to just take the old ECU and harness out and replace it with the Skyline one? or am I just wishfully thinking? (I hate wiring haha) Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it after days of searching... Thanks! Ian
  11. My first Z!!! I bought her about a week ago (last monday to be exact) for $400, although the head was removed, and the guy that took the head off didn't know about the trick with the piece of wood between the chain, so the tensioner popped out, so now I have decided that if I can find one (for a decent price) I'm gonna swap a turbo motor in it Note that THE ONLY dents on this car are on the drivers fender, where the guy's neighbor backed into it with his truck other than that, there is not a SINGLE ding in this car! :hijack:also, the blue and orange car in the background is my car, too. (sorry, but I couldn't help myself ) Oh, and I'm also only 16!
