  1. :cry2:I searched for this but didnt find out the exact answer. Im sure some out here knows for sure. Is the transmission from a 79 n/a different from an 82 turbo? I used a 79 manual on my 81 turbo so thats y i was wondering? Thanx P.S. If someone does a search and finds the answer, plz let me know. Id like to read it.

  5. Sorry..its the front bumper. I was sitting on a stool and flipped the bumber on its end so i could get a better look in it. its no S#!t connected to a blank off connector right behind the bumper passenger side of the bumper right behind the licence plate. It might be a temp sensor but im not sure. Its just something id like to find out about??? Thanx for the info. Hey roger hows it going? I still need to get the club info from ya....
  6. Well the thing is it connected to a plug behind the plate and it just ends.....strange? Pretty sure its not a block heater though. thanx
  7. Ok, so I pulled my bumper off my 81zxt. When i turned it over i noticed there was a connecter that ran behind then bumber to the area behind my licence plate??? I have no idea what the heck this is? Can someone tell me? Tried to search it out and found nothing!!! thanx and merry x-mas
  8. Hey dude, I had the same prob except i have a turbo. It started at 2000 rpm then down to 1500rpm. I removed my throttle body and cleaned the hell out of it and installed a cold air intake. The only way i got it to fix was to adjust my AFM. try that bud. Good luck.
  9. sorry, hit send b4 i finished....the only diff im seein is that there are those 2 extra lines on the fwd bottom that look like vaccume lines. What does BCDD stand for again..lol

  11. Hey dude, congrats on your ride. I can tell you one thing. I was down in fresno a few weeks ago......and man was i shocked. Theres a few pick in pull junk yards there that had a s#!T LOAD of z cars there. especially 280zx's. check them out. you can get parts for cheep and if your lucky a few cool after market parts too!!!! Good luck and dont break your self. Oh by the way this is a great site to find out info. There are a few A$$holes on here but dont let them get to you. Remember theres no such thing as a dumb question.
  12. Quick question everyone, i have an 81zxt, and my throttlebody took a dump along with the position switch. I found an 81 n/n car and was wondering if the throttle body from that could be used as well as the switch on my turbo car or are they different? thanx

  15. Yep, I did check it and it is closed all the way....Im puzzled?? I didnt really take a bunch of thing off. Just the charge pipe from the turbo to the manifold the little black box on the right side of the manifold and the connector to it. I did how ever dicide to pull all of my a/c stuff out since im her in washington st. and dont really need it. Could that have anything to do with it???
  16. Whats up fellas. Well i fixed a bunch of gripes with my 81 zxt thanx to the help of this forum and expertice of a lot of you all. But now im a bit stuck. This should be an easy fix but it seems not to be. I recently pulled my charge pipe off to clean it out and also sprayed a good amount of throttle body cleanner in the throttle body. Man it looked like it had never been cleaned in 27 yrs. I removed the small black box on the throttle body to do some cleaning also. NOW 4 the issue. I put everything back together and went to start. It started up fine but when it warmed up it stayed at 1250 rpm. Will not go lower. I adjusted the screw on the throttle but to no avail. I thnk it might have to do something with me removing the small black box of the throttle body??? I looked it up in my Haynes manual and couldnt locate it. Well its about that time to clean up the tools, make sure i didnt leave any in the eng bay. LOL Have a good night everyone:wink:

  19. Does anyone have pictures of how they routed their intercooler pipes. Im picking one up tomorrow and would like to install it with out cutting any metal from the frame of the car. The IC has both ports on one side so any pics and info would be great. I tried searching but only found one clear pic but, it had a port on either side. Domo arigato mr robato!! 81 zxt

  21. I have a 1980zx 2x2 that i got for free with title but, it dosent run at all. going to us it a a parts car. 81 zxt that i use as a daily driver and work on it every weekend!!! Hopefully ill be able to paint it soon. Primer white only looks ok for a bit. 81zxt 5 speed tranny swap tokico 2in lowering kit cusco strut bars. 15in centerline rimz kakimoto muffler brought back when i transfered from japan red to black interior 80 to 130 mph guge swap.

  23. Is your car turbo or n/a? If its a turbo and you are using a transmission from a n/a car, then you will need to order a special driveshaft. I lost the p/n but any good tranny shop should be able to help. Just remember if you use transmission from a n/a car then you will need the flywheele, starter, all the hyd lines the pedal assembly, and the center consol parts. It would be in your best intrest to order a new master and slave cylinder vice using an old one. Did my swap about a yr ago and it was my 1st. Pain in the a$$ for a newbe!! Good luck bro!
  24. Money on pump also.....n/a pump WILL NOT run the turbo eng correctly. Swap pump and regulator.
