  1. I might be able to explain the why Apparently Cable has gone through a few older threads and bumped or inquired about things of interest or an update regarding items within the thread, for example, on this thread my guess would be he's curious about this: so maybe it was bumped to receive a response rather than having to start a new thread and getting asked "did you use the search?" This is just a guess. . .
  2. 90 views and no one has any advice?
  3. K, so I've adjusted the hell out of the AFM both loosened and tighten, and it's still not firing up. The spark plugs are not "soaked" in gas, some of them have slight black residue, and when i looked down into the chamber, I noticed there was some residual gas or fluid sitting on top of the pistons (very little like condensation), I think this happened as I was injecting fuel and not sparking which explains why its still there. From what I can tell the plugs are not fouled. I'm at a complete loss and am ready to just scrap the whole project. This whole swap is just beyond me and costing me $1000's, and is causing me to pull my hair out. If I don't get this sorted by June, it'll be to the Cars For Sale section for it.
  4. is there a write up on adjustment w/ pics? i cant seem to find one when searching...
  5. Yeah that'll be next to check during my troubleshoot, another thing someone recommended is that i check the AFM adjustment, because from my understanding the AFM I have, was adjusted to suit another '83 turbo's tune/set up. So the clock spring [not sure if thats what its called] could be adjusted too tight to allow the "door" to swing open. Also it was explained to me that the position or adjustment of this contributes to the fuel INJ, so perhaps I'm running too lean? I have had a "pop" or 2 when trying to start it... Several sensors: CHTS, several INJ connectors could use a replacement, but from what I can tell they ARE connected. My timing is dead-on, so I don't think it would be that.
  6. The "muffler" pieces on the twice pipes are pretty much a pair of resonators to begin with, so IDK if adding additional resonators to lessen the exhaust noise would be efficient, IMO. Then again, I'm the one whose anti-Twice Pipes to begin with, so my opinion may not amount to much, I'm just only speaking of my personal experience.
  7. Ok so I successfully bypassed the Fuel Pump Relay, and wired up that G wire from the FPRH to 12v constant. Still not starting, so I decided to remove the distributor (since I dont have a noid light to test the injectors) and spun it while IGN was on, and all of my injectors were clicking. I dont know if that means they're getting pulse or not, but as of now I have Fuel pressure, spark, and supposedly the injectors are pulsing, but still not starting.... Where is my next problem area to check?
  8. I have a q45 r200 shortnose diff, i think it has 4.07? not sure will that work?
  9. Nice I got another harness in, still having same ******* issues as before, No Inj pulse!! WTF!!! anyway, I'm on my last leg to figure this damn issue out... then its off to some expensive ass shop for them to fiddle with.

  10. So I'm swapping an 83 turbo l28 into my 73 240z for the past year, and have been having this problem ever since I started this swap a year ago. My harness does not have the Fuel Pump Relay Harness (FPRH) that has the relay and plugs into the EFI Harness. I've posted on here several times on the WTB for this piece and have bought 3 seperate harness packages thta failed to include this so I'm no longer going to take the chance of purchasing another harness on here. My problem is I have the B/W wire that comes from the FPRH goin to 12v switched and nothing else from that piece going elsewhere. I notice on the FSM the L/R wire goes to the relay as well as the G wire, now these two on my car are not connected to anything as I do not have a relay to the fuel pump. For now for diagnostic purposes I'm not going to put a relay in until I can figure out what the issue is: Now I have spark coming from the coil, and to the plugs, I have Fuel Pressure, however I have no Injector Pulse, this is my 3rd ECU to have this issue, which leads me to believe I have something not wired. I've combed through the EFI Harness maticulously and the only thing I see absent from being pluged into either 12v, ground, or anything else is the wires coming from the FPRH w/ the exception of the B/W wire which is going to 12v switched. When I previously set up this swap with the FPRit would either leave the Fuel pump running after turning the IGN off, or the last time I set it up (ACCORDING TO ALL AVAILBLE DIAGRAMS HERE AND FSM) it melted the relay, several connectors, as well as fried the ECU. So I have decided that there has to be some way to not include the Fuel Pump Relay with the EFI harness and make the appropriate connections to the wires that connected to the relay. Does anyone know how to set up the efi harness independent of the Fuel Pump Relay Harness???
  11. I wouldn't recommend buying this, I purchased a set from MSA and I was not pleased with them. First, several of the pipes had surface corrosion, and one piece had rust, 2nd two of the pipes were short and had the wrong ID; i had to replace them, for the price of these it seems cheaper to get these made at a local exhaust shop IMO. or go with 2.5" - 3" depending on your setup.
  12. Looking to swap this instead of the expensive r200 shortnose from the q45 i have aqcuired. Not exactly sure of the ratios that the WRX diffs came in I believe I've heard 3.7_, 3.9_, and 4.11 ? I know I dont want the 4.11, so anything less than that and more than 3.5 will do. I have a q45 shortnose R200 VLSD for trade if someone happens to have the R180lsd for trade. best to PM me...
  13. MM will sell you one, its unlikely anyone who has one here is parting with it, due to the amount of investment needed to install one of these... IMO
  14. Thanks for the replies, I have purchased one... admins delete this
  15. My 83 turbo efi harness melted and I'm in need of one ASAP as well as a fuel pump relay harness and relay, not wanting to spend too much as I had to spend much of my funds on the repair of the remainder of the damage. its best to contact me via email indephenit@gmail.com or txt (360) 518-8374.
  16. we're not talking about the "over-sized-grand-prix" bonneville are we??
  17. I fried my ecu and efi wiring harness attempting to swap it into a 73 240z, I need at least the COMPLETE EFI harness and ECU, if you have and can include the FUEL PUMP RELAY harness, it would be nice but not neccessary. My shipping zip is 98682 for quoting a price. its faster to call/text me @ 360-518-8374 or email me @ indephenit@gmail.com
  18. Gone through the EFI harness found that several important connectors were melted: 1 ECU connector (injector harness I believe), the Cold Start Injector connector, and Fuel Pump Relay Connector and pigtails, so I'll be needing a replacement 83 zxt harness and ECU, and someone to quote me a price for this fix...
  19. Update: I've received the missing harnesses and fuel pump modulator a few days ago, finally got everything wired today (correctly to the FSM wiring diagram I might add) and upon connecting the NEG cable to the battery the fuel pump engaged without anything switched, (this happened once before when i attempted to wire the EFI and FUEL PUMP RELAY harness as shown in all the wiring diagrams provided here, and in the FSM, which led me to wire the FUEL PUMP RELAY harness separate from the EFI harness) so I decided to crank it to see if it started and figure that out afterwards.... BAD IDEA As soon as the IGN was in the ON position I fried the ECU, and several connectors melted... From here I'm at a point of exhaustion, I've wired everything as instructed by multiple "experts" and following every resource available and I'm getting nowhere. SO... I'm down to 2 options: 1) hand my car over to someone or a shop (locally preferred) to get the car running or... 2) sell the car in its current condition I'd prefer to do the first option since I've sold all of my vehicles to pay for rent, bills, etc. and this has become my DD, however I'm on a real time constraint because the car needs to be out of the garage it currently sits in, in less than a month. But if I do not find someone or someplace that can do this, I will be forced to sell... So if anyone is interested in undertaking this task please PM me or call/text me @ 360-518-8374
