  1. So when I picked up my 73 240z, I noticed @ 45+ mph I had the steering wobble of death, immediately I had my tires balanced and began troubleshooting my way to the source of the problem. I replaced the Steering coupler, Sway bar end links and eventually the rack mount bushings (all with Energy Suspension) when I found that the rack had movement within the bushing. After replacing these parts and a test drive I found that I still had the death wobble. My next venture was to replace the wheel bearings. Of course after doing so the wobble was still there. So going back to the rack, I noticed I still had lots of movement within the bushing still... So I ordered up another set of Energy Suspension Bushings and just less than an hour ago installed them... There is still movement within the bushing. I noticed during installation that the caps set in place over the bushings with ease, and set against the mounting surface on the lower mount without having to compress the bushing (as if they may be larger than the original caps). So now I'm at the conclusion that I may have the wrong caps (if there is a difference amongst 240z, 260z, and/or 280z rack mount caps) or that they may be extremely worn... I am curious to see if anyone can confirm that the 240z caps are different in either I.D. O.D. and/or height, if so I will need to hit up the WTB threads.. Also, if anyone can explain the purpose to the U-Bolt that attatches by the driver's side bushing or if this may be relevant to why this is happening.
  2. I did for less than that. Technically we're not suppose to say that though, however the original poster can say something like "not looking to spend more than $30", etc.
  3. only one I know of: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/IA42/50-1290
  4. Some vet who help give me a push the other day (accidental disconnect of the 12v ign-coil wire) said he owned 240z, drove it off the showroom floor...
  5. there was a shop in B.C. somewhere that did a similar conversion, using s13 interior.
  6. If I may add, another stitch in this seam that I have been noticing is we'll also get new members who "appear" to have avoided the search feature, and I say "appear" based on the content or validity of their question(s), and they seem to ask a question for example: A new member recently posted a question about coil-over components or what’s available I believe, and furthermore made it significantly clear within his/her question that they were not experienced with coil-over and/or suspension tech, as one may expect he/she was bombarded with Z veterans directing to use the search, and in his/her defense the new member responded with that they possessed a number of years of experience with welding and modification and knew what he/she was talking about. Posting threads inquiring about something that may be found using the search "correctly" I might add, then posting credentials to suggest that a member may know what they are talking about after being directed negatively about their inquiry is becoming all too common on HybridZ IMO. There are many who are experienced as well as many who are not. The ones who are, can typically identify those who are not with an adequate amount of inquiry from those asking about something that could be found in searching HyrbidZ. So, yes we are becoming a bit bitter about our responses, but in our defense, there are incidents where such responses are deemed justifiable to an extent. Perhaps we need to better facilitate where and how such inquiries from new members generate. Not so much as to begin restricting members' freedoms, but somehow monitor that which is needlessly posted.
  7. What about using this http://www.dtekcustoms.com/blackicegtstealth120.aspx or this http://www.dtekcustoms.com/unpaintedpro-120core.aspx as opposed to using the Chevette core? Would that be too small to run enough heat sufficiently to use as defrost?
  8. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
  9. is that what diff this belongs to? the "K" R-180? would I need to add clutches too?
  10. WOuld this work on a z? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R180-3-70-LSD-Ring-Gear-RNN14-N14-GTiR-GTi-R-SR20DET-/250705453052?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item3a5f359ffc#ht_2496wt_1134
  11. I would think you could but would have to have custom front mounts made.
  12. is this custom or are these sold like this, cos I want the Ext WG but I dont want to weld onto cast manifold...
  13. ^^agreed Take my word for it do small stuff first: steering, suspension, brakes, and elecrtical. My skill is in midrange which came from experience with working in the industry for 7+ years. I'm still learning things that I didn't acquire from all my training. I did a L28ET swap into my Z, and that in NO way should have been one of my first investments, as I have come accross issues with brakes, steering, and suspension being not all too efficient. And thats just a L-series motor, granted I may be pushing a few more hp than stock, I did everything ass-backwards. I've been all about HP and going fast, and completly forgot the basics of modifications and doing them in a logical order. I recommend start with brakes, suspension, differential, then start moving towards your motor. And when doing so, make a personal checklist validated by someone whose done the exact same swap (ie: rb25det into whatever year your z is). I recommend this because even with all my research, and all of the endless threads on here pertaining to motor swaps, there will be something missed or may have not been included, that you will stumble upon as your doing it. In either case GL with your Z endevor
  14. vh45de, it belongs to zmech here is the build thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/82140-z45-warning-tons-of-pics/
  15. SORRY if this seems like a noob question, just for clarification: Do you mean the p90a cam will not interchange with any other head, or no other cam will fit onto a p90a head, or both?
  16. I have same problem, but mine is blowing blue smoke. Is it a p90 head or a p90a?
  17. Wow, thats is a great diag. Now I noticed that I had my MBC routed wrong, I didn't include that "T" , I believe I just had it routed straight to the wastegate, wonder if that was the problem all along. Thanks!
