Just forgot to say thanks on this thread Len. So....THANKS - the other, other Len -
yeah... that was cool

You can really here my little T3 spool from inside the 240. Glad to hear your T is nice and tight. Enjoy the noise
-
Man, sorry to hear that. Yes, my cousin's T3/T4 from majestic blew up in 15 minutes but, they did warranty it, returned, repaired and back in within 1 week. Hope it all works out for ya. Damn.
-
That would be impressive Joe, 12 second quarter pulling your Z through the trap with the SHO! ha. Tomorrow night (Mon) i'll be replacing the two leaky injectors but it looks for the most part, i'll be pretty free for the rest of the week if you need a hand. Len - i'll look into the orange interior before the track.. maybe i'll pick up a few tenths Scotty - Even with the 2 leaky 370's, she seemed to pull much stronger from mid to WOT. We'll hopefully see this coming weekend.

Scotty... you aren't suppose to run LOW 12'S!!! haha. Awesome run. Congrats. 11's are right there!!! Ok...i have one week to get my Z ready 'till track time. I will be gunning for your low 12's but think that's WAYYYY out of my reach, but hopefully the wind will be going on my direction Rags, I'll be going either friday night or sunday morning for a few hours before the crowd starts. Any plans? (Trying Scotty )

370cc injectors in last night - Trackbound tonight
Jersey replied to Jersey's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Cant wait to hear how you do. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow. And yeah JOE! Actually, i'm out for tonight. The two injectors that were getting a little wet, are now strating to drip so, no way i'm taking it to the track risking fire and...it just started drizzling here so the track is shut down for the night. So next friday night is the last night of the year they're open for night test/tune so i'll have to what 'till then. Joe...any chance possibly next week? I'd love to get a few Z's there to represent. More about the dripping injector syndrome... i realized when i received the two different sets of 4 - 370cc injectors from two different people that one set was stamped E5ZE-A3A and the other E5ZE-A3B, but they looked exactly the same, just one had a little thicker washer and a shorter pintle cap an vise-versa on the other set. I figured since these 370cc injectors could be had off of several different cars that this was a slight modification they did between the cars and i just received one set from an SVO and maybe one set from a Merkur. Once i cut the pintle caps off and modified them to work for the Z, they look exactly the same. Now i realized, the two that are leaking are the E5ZE-A3A's. The 4 B's that are in there are perfect and dry. And, last night after the install when i noticed one wet injector, i replaced it with another (only had 2 A's to replace it with) and it leaks as well. Think i'll have to make a new post to see if someone could tell me the correct # for the 370's that's stamped on the side of the injector. There is also a # stamped on the top of the injector that differs between the A's and B's. Maybe the A's cant handle the 40-60lb of fuel pressure? Damn. Nothings easy. -

Joe, when i stated "Z's in NJ" and "never tackbound", you where excluded Wish we could've hooked up one time this year. The V8Z is running, no? Come help me smoke some of these fart cans Hope you got the HG fixed on the turbo "hybrid" Sorry to hear about what happened up there after all that work you did to make it. -

Thanks Yo. Ummm...crappy launch - bum piston - spinning tires and still pulling 110mph eh? My Z seemd to be running good, except for bad hookup, for my 13.3-109mph run I think you're about to smoke me. ha. '73 240. My signiture shows my basic setup and also a link to the vidoe of my 12.88 run. BTW, i'm also close to sea level....a bit higher there in MI? -

Will do Scotty - good luck. Kick some @ss! I was really surprised when i started it up and it idled (after it warmed up) the way it did buy just adjusting the flapper tension. I figured i'd have to drill out the air bypass and adjust it as well but no need. I think the next step i will take performace wise to dump the stock T3 and going Hybrid. Winter project maybe. I think the 370's should be sufficient enough with my basic setup now but the 420's do sound nice What's your best 1/4? Since there aren't many Z's left here in NJ, and those that are don't usually take them to the track, maybe we can do like a virtual drag. My best ET was a 12.88@105.9 and best MPH was a 13.2@109.5. I'll try and post results tonight so you have something to blow me away by. Can't remember you posting track results but, if you're low 12's or 11's, i'd rather not compare results -
I put the svo/mekur/t-bird 35# injectors in last night, twisted the AFM, and i think she likes the extra fuel. Seems to pull harder at WOT but the seat-of-the-pants dyno. We'll see tonight if weather holds out at the track. One slight problem.... two of the injectors are getting wet slightly out of the base of the plastic top caps right where it connects to the metal body of the injector. Tough luck because i bought them of ebay and obviously sold as-is. What's nice is that at WOT, the temp gauge now stays cool and she seems to pull a lot smoother all the way through the R's without the little bit of hesitation i used to get when approaching 5-6k with the 260cc's. I twisted the AFM gear 18 teeth and it seems to be working good. It even idles nice which was unexpected. I'll really need to focus on getting an WB 02 or at least a exh temp sensor to get it right.

Nic-Rebel450CA - i was kidding...that's what the (WINK) was for. Geez, can't even kid around on this board anymore! NR5P - i hope YOU realized i was joking and i also hope you figure out exactly the right infomation and configuration that will get you on your SC'd way. Good luck.

You should just go turbo.
-
Awesome Yo! Nice. Any ping at 14psi? I just bought a set of 370cc and hope to be installing them this coming week, then hitting the track on friday. I, like you, think i was leaning at the top @ 14psi due to the stock injectors That is great. Congrats!

Just some comparison pics between stock T3 & T3/T4
Jersey replied to Jersey's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
This is the hybrid from Majestic that blew in 15 minutes. It wasn't too tough finding a flange for it. Good eyes btw I went to the local Moroe and asked what 3 bolt flages they had laying around, matched one up, cut the stock cast DP flange off and welded the new 3 bolt flange onto it. Kinda sucked but it worked. This T3/T4 and DP is still in his "donor" '83ZXT but will all be changed if we can ever find a 240 or 280 in decent shape around here in NJ to swap it all into. I took a look at the 45deg DP i made for my 240 and it would NEVER fit in the ZXT so i figured no reason to make him one now since he hasn't even found a good 240/280 shell yet. Wished i lived out west a bit. Seems out near you or better yet, Cali, the Z's are easier to come by and are in MUCH better shape. All rust for big bucks here on the east side. -
50trim E wheel in a T04B housing, .63 Stage III clipped, oil & water, bullet nosed, ported WG hole to about 1.25" using a Volvo WG flapper...for now BTW - Not mine (damn), my cousins....

It just got even WORSE... AGAIN (compression test done)
Jersey replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Tim just beat me to my exact suggestion. The only thing i would do differently is to just get the head shaved if it's out of whack, considering that you mentioned $ is tight. You can rent a uhaul tow dolly for about $20 if you find it's not the gasket to get the car back to where you live but i have a feeling it is the gasket. Just a 7k mile away guess And....my OPINION - do not go with the ford or your old n/a motor. You will get this figured out. You've come this far, stick with it. -

Here's another example about how tough the L6 is from my experience - Last time i went to the track, i couldn't get down to the 12's i ran before mostly due to track conditions soooo...i cranked the boost up a little more, then a little more and, right at about 15-16psi, nearing the end of the track she was pinging lightly. I made three consecutive runs like this with it lightly pinging through the trap with no problems afterword. Yes, i know i shouldn't have, especially with the stock head gasket, but i was sort of pissed that i wasn't back in the 12's and figured if she blew, i'd be forced to rebuild it, but i'd get to build it stronger Anyway, i wouldn't worry if she pinged lightly on you that once and you got right back out of it. I'm leaning toward head gasket as well. It could have definitely been from pouring cold water into the radiator when she was running hot. I did the same thing on my first Z back in 1987 - 19 yrs old - warped the head a little then blew the gasket. Those aluminum heads don't react nicely to quick temp changes like that. I hope you get it all figured out soon. -
Have you pulled the plugs to take a look yet?
-
For the 15 minutes it ran, it ran better than it EVER did. Idled perfect and not one bit of smoke. This was all at idle for 15 minutes but with the old T3, it would smoke within the first 5 so i know this was the problem. Kevin from Majestic has us sending the T3/T4 back to him so he can either fix it or replace it ASAP and get it back to us.
-
Not sure what Scottie did but i tell ya what, the B housing is real darn close to the block when all bolted down. If the E housing is slightly bigger, i couldn't see a way, whatever way you clock it, to fit without using a spacer and longer studs. Just an observasion.
-
Yo, now you don't like the 50trim setup? You're killing me!! haha. Maybe i should just tell him to drop a 60-1 in the standard B housing? I really wanted to see how the 50 would work on the L28. Looks great on paper...
