I haven't checked this site in a long time, so you may have figured it out by now, but what I got was called a door striker bushing I believe, it was a small tube like your describing and slipped over the striker peg. I think I had to cut the old one off one side, the other side had broken and fell off. They just wear down until the striker for the door doesn't get a good grip on them anymore and lets them rattle.
-
Hi man I read your solution on a thread about rattling doors in the ZX. You said you got new bushings-- what did you mean by that? I got some tube style spacer/washer in there but it floats/slides around freely (can't be removed).

What will they think of next? .... No wait, I don't want to know. I like when someone does a tasteful exhaust coming out of an unusual place on the car.... but that is just hideous. -
Thats a good one

If that was my daughter... I do believe I would need to break out the shotgun and shovel =) Although SlownRusty had a pretty good idea too with... But only if the treatment for his wounds included generous amounts of salt and alcohol =) But I can't blame it all on him... she wasn't very smart for riding on the back with a dumbass like that, but it looks like she has already had her punishment for that bad decision.

Food For Thought about JOHN KERRY'S Military Records!!!!!!!
2many280s replied to COZY Z COLE's topic in Non Tech Board
I usually don't get into political threads, because I've honestly never seen a politician (from the president all the way down to state/city government) that wasn't a lieing crook that would say anything for a vote. I have to admit, Bush has had his bad parts just as any other president in history has. Things that were his fault, and things that are blamed on him even though the president has little control over what he's being blamed for. But, in the end, I think he's done the right thing with most of his decisions. Including the ones he's been dogged on the most for. When it comes to the Iraq war... We threatened use of force if Saddam didn't allow inspection... If you remember, Saddam said no at first and then a few weeks later said ok. Now, that looks very suspicious no matter how you look at it. I think I remember him kicking the inspectors out again before the war, but I may be thinking of the previous wars with him (that should have both been finished instead of walking away from) Now with our threat of force without inspection, and him denying inspection... Sorry, but we look like a big bully thats all talk if we didn't do anything. You can't just keep threatening someone and not backing it up or else they will do just as Saddam did, give ya the finger and walk away. Its sad that we have to be the babysitter to the world... but its true, and a strict babysitter gets a bit more respect and less back talk than the pushover. Now, that is the part I agree on, but I disagree on practically bailing on Afghanistan in order to push Iraq. Yes, Saddam was a big supporter of terrorists (not the ones that attacked us, but many others) And still counts as a target in the war on terrorism... but, the first objective of the WoT was Bin Laden. Someone we still haven't found and is still causing problems. That goes back to the other part really, by just letting him go and looking for someone a little easier to catch, just made us look like we aren't serious about it and doing it all for show. Yes the rest of the world hates us (always has, nothing has changed, and not Bush's fault). As for the economy being in a massive slump. Honestly, I don't blame much of that on him either. To me the economy went into the crapper the day of 9/11. I went from making roughly 5k a week in commssioned sales down to less than 1k that month and never recovered since. I honestly think that if that had happened on any other presidents watch, we would be in the same boat. The president doesn't control the economy, the people do. So in the end, Both candidates are full of it. But, when it comes to what this country needs in a leader.... Sorry, but Kerry just doesn't have it. He can talk the talk better than Bush. He can spread the BS a little thicker with only a slight smell of manure...But Bush, simpleton or not, has the right attitude for a country our size. Don't start none, there won't be none. -
Just got through searching for carbon fiber cloth or fabric and it sells for quite a bit less except for one guy claiming aerospace grade... wich I know where this stuff came from... and I know what they make there and for who, so I could probably get away with his price or close to it. I remember there being a part number on a tag on the bag, need to get that and do a bit more research, or get in touch with my other cousin to see if he knows whether its 3k-6k or what and what weight, thickness, and such. Didn't realise there were that many different kinds of carbon fiber. There are TONS of different kinds, and I'm sure someone will ask if I don't know =) All I know so far, is it looks to be a "Plain Weave" (fatter weave than most I've found pictures of though) fairly thick, very soft and silky feeling, and knowing where it came from, probably very high quality. But a lot of the auctions get very specific, so I will probably need to too This is taking more work than most of the computer parts I used to sell

If we can get those extra 2 pallets, there will definately be a discount for hybridz members, this roll however, I might have to just blow out on ebay in order to get us both some quick cash. We are both hurtin for money lately since his business is slow and mine stopped almost completely when my boss was wiped out for over a half million by the Florida hurricane =) By what I've figured so far, best sellers on ebay are selling at 21.99 per 10"x50". I will probably be doing 12"x60" since thats how wide the roll is. We haven't fully decided on what to price it at yet though, thinking around $30-$35 per 12" by 60" (wich aircraft spruce is definately cheaper on, they sell the thicker stuff at $34 a yardx50" but not sure how thick this stuff is exactly, but its definately thicker than the stuff spruce sells for $17 a yard.) Its about as thick as your average fiberglass mat and that roll weighs about 200 or more lbs (Was HELL moving it). The pictures really don't do it much justice hehe the stuff is beautiful in person. I will know Monday if we are going to get the other rolls too, and then of course we can afford to sell it for whatever we want and have some left over to play with even =) But I just got off the phone with my brother and brought up the subject of discounting to friends and he said it would be cool after we get some moving and get some money coming in off it. What do you guys think about the $30-$35 per 12"x60" for ebay? Of course, cheaper for you guys, but for everyone else, sound high? low? I've never really researched the stuff much, as a matter of fact, thats the first time I've even seen that much of it in one place =) So I have no clue what the going price for it is. Thanks for the aircraft spruce reference though, that did help to get an idea of what it sells for outside of ebay.

Well, I looked it up on ebay... and looks like I might be making some money pretty soon selling it for him . Average ebay price is around 11$ a square foot (less for larger peices) and thats 615x5 ft. He didn't know it was worth that much or else he would have already been hitting me up to sell it for him And I may be getting a LOT more of it soon. What happened today was I was at a cookout at my uncles house and talking to one of my cousins who just got a job with some defense contracts... wich I already had one cousin that works at another place that does the same thing (wich is where that roll came from) And it seems that those rolls, if they don't weigh an almost exact amount, are thrown away(Our tax dollars at work). And my cousin with the new job asked my brother if he would be interested in a couple of pallets of those rolls that they were about to discard (brother does fiberglass work, repairing boats and cars and such) and he said he already had a big roll of it that he hadn't used that my other cousin gave him. Well, actually at one time he had 2 rolls, but one was smaller and he used up making deer stands for my cousin and all his buddies (some nice deer stands I bet ) And of course, I over heard that and asked why he hasn't said something about it since he's been complaining lately about slow business and being out of money, and well, thats money just gathering dust in his shop hehe. So, needless to say, we might be in the carbon fiber business pretty soon, will be really nice if we can get the 2 pallets the other place is getting rid of. I'm thinking about ebaying it by the running foot, 1'x5' per quantity ordered, so large sheets say 10x5 could be bought. If I had known he had this stuff back when we were both making good money... my Z would probably be CF by now hehe He's had that roll for almost a year now and never even opened it. We unwrapped the top to take a couple pics of it As for the tires.. those are for a 65 chevy he's doing a frame off resto on for a guy, they aren't even his

Yeah, my brother is a lucky bastard But he just came into a rather large roll of pristine carbon fiber. 205 yards by 5 feet to be exact. Anyone around here know what that might be worth?

That video was just too cool. The burnout was very cool, and the 10.96 run wasn't too shabby either. That would be the only Hyundai I could bring myself to give

Who wants to watch brats thrash cars most of us can't have??
2many280s replied to BillZ260's topic in Non Tech Board
I saw that on pay per view (I get em for free, so I didn't feel too ripped off =) But feel the same way. Some parts of it were cool, and of course the cars were all pretty cool, but stuff like cutting across the grass in a corner in a GT2 is just disgusting. I do have to say though, that the battle of the rentals was pretty funny =) Just wish they would have had footage of the rental place when they brought them back. -
78 280z.. Dark gunmetal silver (Paint looks good from a distance, but is horrible up close, seen better out of a krylon can =) Passenger side control arm is banged up pretty bad, looks like someone hit a big rock or something. Other than that, it runs great and the body is straight and of course the price was right =) Like the color... hate the job. It has dry spots, runs, you name it, every bad thing associated with a bad paint job. No bumpers front or back, nice and smooth in the back with a black grill in the front. Other side Someone spray painted the engine... that will need to be cleaned up =) Dash is actually in good shape under the half cap even. All in all, should be a fun new toy to add to my ZX collection =) Turbo conversion will be on this car instead of one of my ZX's like I had planned.

What... No Curb feelers? Don't they know how embarassing it is for a pimp to hit the curb when he's checking up on his hoes -

I'm a firm believer in the "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" saying. When it comes down to it, if someone is crazy enough to kill another person, they are going to do it with their bare hands or anything else they can find if they have to. It all boils down to wich person does civilization not need... the innocent victim? or the criminal that picked the wrong victim? And as RPMS said, if someone is already breaking the law, what makes people think they will pay attention to a new law? All that leaves is an armed criminal(because if he wants a gun, he will get one by any means neccesary, or use a knife if he can't) and a law abiding victim without the ability to defend themselves. It takes the police about 20 minutes to get where I live... a lot can happen in that time.

The guy that offered the big bucks for it said he had already spent $4000 having a rifle custom built and it didn't turn out half as nice as that one. Wich I gotta admit, its a beautiful and damn good shooting gun =) My brother has already said he wasn't going to sell it no matter what since it was his first(going to pass it down to his son), but might build another for the guy hehe I would too, you can pick the M48's up around here for $140-$150, the rough cut stock with the thumb hole was $60-$70, barrel and installation/headspace setting was right at $200, and he used a urethane clear paint like would be used on a car (He's a body/fiberglass guy) so maybe another $100 there, and the rest just time. Not a bad profit for a few days work =)
-
My brother just rebuilt an M48 that looks awesome. He had it rebarrelled to .308 and used a stock like this one except in walnut. Turned out looking like a real deep cherry wood expensive furniture with a maple end. Very pretty gun. Right now he has about $250 in it because the gun was given to him with a broken stock and someone already offered $1500 for it while we were at the gunshop getting a scope mount for it. Pic is of the style of stock, but a much different color.

Who Makes The Most Reliable Car...You HAVE To see these PICS

Looks like it has been CoRolla'd a few times =) -
There is a bone stock looking turbo fiesta or festiva(can't remember wich is wich) down the road from my house. You'd never know until he starts it up. Its loud as hell and backfires real bad right now but I've seen him hauling ass up and down the street and its damn quick to be that ugly =)

Jmortensen is right. The ford 2.3 may not have a big oem market anymore, but it has a huge selection of racing aftermarket parts. I used to work with a guy that raced dirt 4cyl and after he got out of it put one of his motors into an old lx mustang hehe. That thing with dual webers and a very lumpy cam just sounded flat out evil for a 4 banger.

Engine Bay Pics (II) - Here you go Drax!

No fair man, it even looks good in the before pics Very sweet car -
I wouldn't want him to go easy. I would have to make sure he was brutally raped and sodomized by the biggest lifer in the prison, and then maybe a smashed skull later. Just death wouldn't be enough punishment for a crime like that.

Also, the striker post can wear down over the years to no longer have a tight fit with the door latch. That was the problem with my ZX, the doors would rattle like they were not closed good over the slightest bumps. I used a few layers of electrical tape to make sure that was the problem, and then bought some plastic bushings for them. They are nice and firm now.

Speaking of the Ford 2.3, It was also used as a carbureted version in the Pinto and Courier pickups. It can make some SERIOUS power and is tough as hell. One of the 7 second Focus drag cars threw out the focus motor and used the 2.3 instead to make ~4000 hp. Yeah thats not a typo hehe. Here is a Pinto that has been punched out to 2.5 with 14:1 compression and 18psi boost running 8.92. Freakin insane =) http://www.sdsefi.com/features/jan00pinto.htm
