That thing even sounded great, smooth and quick like an Indy car.

Giant hairy manly.... well, you get the idea

Heysus Christopher.... Not only twins AND a huffer..... but damn look at the size of those things. Think he had a problem with getting enough air in the cylinders? Or do you think he was trying to get as close to a full fledged turbine engine as possible? Think he took the concept of 24" spinners completely wrong -
They don't even bother to drive my cars where I live. They check the signal lights, brake lights, headlights, and horn....Anything goes after that =) I would almost think that a top fuel dragster with all the lights and grooves in the slicks would pass inspection here =) I've had my car pass several times with no cat and straight pipe exhaust. Oh, forgot to mention, Tx also =)
-
I was thinking the same thing... about the cuda having a hair dryer hiding in there somewhere. That sure does look like a blow off valve in the intake piping along the center/front of the engine.

Yep thats the one they were chasing with the helicopter =) At one point he drove under the chopper and parked, and it was so light the downdraft was moving the car hehe. Found the video... http://www.sleepy-fish.com/sleepy/Top_Gear_Exige_hi.wmv

I saw a Top Gear video a week or so ago of a Lotus (I believe it was the Exige) Getting chased around the track by an Apache helicopter. Was funny as hell, they couldn't get a lock on the little thing.

Sounds like XP at least changed the way it handles serial comms =) I would be pretty upset too if I had the headache you have been having and tried everything you have tried so far only to find out it was only software. XP may be my problem too since I use it on all my systems, it could just be erratic with certain chipsets, since it does work with some.
-
If the MS interfaces through the serial port... it may not be the operating system causing the problem. The signal voltage on all serial ports and parallel ports are not all the same. I emulate a smart card for my satelite dish wich also is constantly sending data through the serial port. On my laptop its rock solid, never a problem. But on the computer I have in my entertainment center, I had to solder a small cap across 2 pins of the atmel chip in order to smooth things out because without it, that computer saw a horribly corrupted data stream. Same goes for parallel ports for burning the chips I use. Some of my computers will work fine with any other parallel device, but won't burn an eeprom without trying several times. It may still be the OS, but I wouldn't rule that out either.

hahaha The links didn't work, but you can go to the gsnationals site and the photos section and see them. Its the one car that stands out like a sore thumb on that site hehe. Would be pretty embarrassing to be beat by one, or at least would be embarrassing trying to explain it to anyone that didn't see it =)

I hope it was the 3cyl with a whopping 43whp =) If not.... man I would hate to see what the 3cyl puts out =) I remember seeing someones sig that said My lugnuts require more torque than your car can put out. And I think that would be true in this situation =) I remember seeing on a honda site not too long ago about some guys that were about to do a motor swap and decided to blow the original first. Straight hose from the nitrous bottle to the intake was enough to kill it. Had a hole in the side of the block almost big enough to put your hand through =)

Check out this video of a turbo Hyabusa in action. I'm surprised this guy can sit on a bike with balls as big as he must have. That thing will wrap the speedo around faster than my tach. http://www.bdmracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=233 Go to link, then save the video. Link is only to site holding the video.

My old boss used to have one of those... It would smoke cops for sure... you could tell by the soot on the bumper =) Not to mention anyone following it with their windows down would have quickly been overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning anyway =) I like the look of those cars, and they may be fast when they were brand new, but after 100k or so miles they leave much to be desired =) My boss lived on my way home from work, so one day I was messing with him and riding his bumper trying to get him to gun it.... He did finally, and I downshifted, jumped into the other lane and passed him =) But thats not the funny part really... the funny part was the car I was driving was an 81 turbo automatic with no turbo =) The turbo had ingested itself a few months before and was nothing more than an empty shell that connected the manifold to the exhaust pipe =) He never lived that one down at work.

Check all the bushings and everywhere that the rear suspension connects to the body. One of my cars started doing that recently and I had no idea what was causing it until I had it jacked up changing the brake pads one day. I got to looking around while I had the rear wheels off and the car jacked up and almost every peice of rubber in the back was crushed, cracked, or flat out gone. I still haven't gotten around to replacing it all yet so I'm not sure if thats what is causing it or not. But I do remember back in my 4x4 mudding days, that anything you could do to keep the rear from twisting(traction bars,4-link...etc) would help with wheel hop. And if that logic holds true in an independant suspension also, then that would be my first guess.

Ever get the feeling your Z was possessed??
2many280s replied to Poundz9oh9's topic in Non Tech Board
After the thug test, it may also get jealous and try to kill your girlfriend at the drive-in wich may be hard to explain to the police Speaking of possessed cars though, the last 83 I bought was horribly abused by the PO. Bad enough that it took me about 3 months to get it back on the road. After about a year of driving it without a single problem, I sold it back to him and it refused to run right from the day he drove it home until the day I bought it back from him about 6-7 months later. There was ALWAYS something wrong with it, sometimes it would refuse to start, others it would just do something else to leave him stranded. I tried several times to figure out what was wrong with it, but any time I went over to check it out, it would start and run no problem for me It finally blew the heater core and sprayed hot antifreeze all over the drivers side of the car and he parked it. Later, when his wife was having another baby and said he had to get rid of it, he offered it back to me for half what he paid for it and I bought it back. After replacing the heater core, and also had to have the radiator rodded out since it was stopped up too, but other than that the car runs better than any that I've owned hehe. That car just hates him. -
funny lessons learned from MSS install

One of my friends had one of those alarm style remote starters on his Suzuki Samurai once, and one day while changing the plugs and wires over at my house, he leaned over the fender with the coil wire in his hand wich pushed the remote button in his pocket.... The look on his face was priceless hehe =) -

Happy birthday!!! I'm still 27 for now

Pretty much anything that you can get oil lines and exhaust from can be turbo'd. Like this ... http://www.sdsefi.com/features/apr00stool.htm
-
Yep that thick black smoke just screams diesel =) Probably stinks like hell too =)
-
Those turbo diesels can really surprise ya. My bro has a 2003 F250 Powerstroke with a Banks six gun on it, and the number 6 setting will scare ya for a truck that size. But his is nothing compared to his friends earlier model powerstroke with a HUGE turbo and propane injection(like nitrous for diesels). He can pull a few car lengths on my brothers truck even while pulling his 22ft bass boat behind it. The same guy also has a new diesel VW bug with a turbo suposedly laying down 300+ hp. The things some rednecks will do =)

Considering Chevy or Ford trucks...opinions?
2many280s replied to JMortensen's topic in Non Tech Board
I borrowed my brother's 2003 F250 Powerstroke with a Banks Six-Gun on it a few weeks ago to move some stuff from my apartment to my new house. Thats a damn nice truck, gets good fuel mileage too. And also even with the six gun set on the 6 setting (400hp/700ft lbs) it didn't smoke and stink like most diesels do. Would damn sure smoke the tires though =) Very surprising for a big ole truck. If I could afford one, I would have a hard time choosing between that and the Titan. And no I wasn't out just thrashin my bro's new truck =) He told me to =) -
The mentality of some people just ...scares me. Sure it was the beer's fault he drank it and not her jerkoff kid driving 90mph into a pole while drunk. Hmmm Wait, if the beer suit fails, she can sue the city for putting that pole there =) Its almost as bad as people wanting to ban violent movies, video games, and handguns because some nutjob kids wanted to open fire on their classmates. I've been watching violent movies since I was old enough to sit in front of the TV, playing violent video games since I was old enough to hold a controller, and I listen to some of the most violent, aggressive music there is(Would make Marilyn Manson sound like the Teletubbies). Yet, I'm very friendly and someone trying to start something with me has a better chance of getting laughed at than swung at. Its all in the parenting. My parents made sure I knew a long time ago that some things were right, and some things were wrong =) A concept that seems to be losing ground every year.

UPDATE!! Running too hot, but not as much as I thought
2many280s replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Mine wasn't getting too hot at first either, took it about a month to start getting bad, then the flush got the temps back down for about a week. It would still make my 30 mile daily trip to work without getting over 3/4 of the guage until that last day before I pulled the rad when it pegged in less than 3 miles. The chin spoiler does make a difference in some cars, I know a late model camaro will overheat without one. I used to have an 82 ZX that was missing the front spoiler though and had no problems other than feeling really scary above 100mph. The 240 could though, haven't had one of those yet =) -
UPDATE!! Running too hot, but not as much as I thought
2many280s replied to a topic in Turbo / Supercharger
I was just having this same problem, the longer I drove at high speeds (Above 65) the hotter my car would get, but in traffic, or just driving around town at 45ish it never even got up to the halfway point on the temp guage... New thermostat, water pump(needed that anyway old one was starting to leak) good flush of the radiator wich seemed to be flowing well out either hose, same with the engine. But after it pegged the guage on me I decided to pull the radiator and have it checked. The radiator shop did a flow test on it and it was clogged. Took 2 days to get it back because they said it needed to sit in the vat for a couple days, but she runs cool as ever now. Its free for most radiator places to flow test one, can't hurt =)
