check out the group buy thread "Rota RB's 17x9.5 and 17x9"
you can fit a 9.5" wide wheel with a stock suspension with proper backspacing and proper offset

I was just curious..
I have a 1978 280z that came with an automatic transmission, so I have a 3.54 R180..
do the factory R180's and R200's have the same driveshaft flange?! (I know the '75s are different)
-
Austin do you have access to the part # you used for the diff flange on that Z?
It's creepy how similar that car is to yours lol
holy cow
wild shifter bracket design lol.. I was just going to build mine out of angle iron and plate steel

everyone says SS autochrome has terrible products and cracks...
yet i've only seen ONE thread on some honda forum with a cracked manifold that could of been caused by using an exhaust system with no flex pipe.
I'd like to see more bad examples of SS autochrome products before people start smashing on the company.

I was looking underneath my Z today and realized that the brake lines (or fuel lines) on the 280z are bolted onto the passenger frame rail..
I'm assuming I have to completely remove these lines? or can I unbolt them and move them aside?!
-
ohh im getting excited!
count me in as well!
-
Jeff..
it looks like your Trans Am doesnt have any openings for the radiator and cooling?!
am I missing something?
-
wow.
thats incredible

depending on what transmission you have on the 1975 280z...
you will either have a R180 (automatic) or a R200 (manual) rear end.
There is nothing different about the '75 differential except the mounting flange I believe.. which is '75 specifically. but an R200 is an R200.
The problem you ran into with the flange sounds about right. the '75 diffy is a one off difference with a flange.
The vibration issue may be something internally or a bad u-joint connecting the driveshaft.. but the differential itself does not have any "problems" that were manufactured in 1975~

beautiful paint!!
Seems flawless!!
I loovvee your Z

If I were to make my own rails...
would you guys recommend using the 2x3 square tubing and keeping the rails in the box frame? Or cutting off the top to use as a cap like a C channel?
[] or |_| ??
-
you can also use OVAL tubing to allow better clearances!!
-
ohh that's how you do porting!!
I heard you can port your intake manifold and extrude the exhaust manifold at the same time pouring sand in the intake!!
this is sooo much easier than I thought!
-
ive always wanted to do DIY porting but I am always afraid of ruining the valve seat
-
holy poop those are long runners lol
and no I still have not mounted it.. been a busy boy lately
