  1. well im an idiot.. and I made the runners too long. and because I cut the pipes at angles.. if I cut them any shorter.. my spacing will be wayyy off. Soo for my plenum.. I have a 4" wide base.. and a 4" diameter pipe.. I cut the pipe in half.. so its a D shape plenum. But thats 2" in height.. Is this plenum too small?! im reallly worried about the volume. I calculated the following.. volume = 3.14 x R (squared) x h Soo.. a 4" pipe.. has a 2" radius.. which is around 301.59 cubic inches at 2 feet long. Cut that in half because I cut the pipe in half is 150 cubic inches!! the stock setup.. is a 2.5"x2.5" style plenum.. soo after the thickness of the wall.. i would say 2.25" by 2.25". Volume = L x W x H The stock intake at lets say 2' feet long.. is 121 cubic inches!! Soo my plenum has 30 cubic inches more volume then stock?! ahh ♥♥♥♥ is this too small?!
  2. not one link on that inconel site works.. its only one fancy picture on that site
  3. Problem solved.. bad intake/exhaust gasket... The aluminum intake and cast iron exhaust manifold heated differently.. some of my bolts were loose.. once the car hit operating temp.. the gasket vibrated and whistled or goose coughed LoL Anyway.. all fixed. The car actually ran better with a vacuum leak believe it or not.. or maybe it just sounded loud.. which gave a false sense. Thanks guys!!
  4. since you mentioned my thread... and my car is a daily driver.. I dont have any overheating issues.. the car runs cooler then it did before.. as long as you have a fan you should be perfectly fine.
  5. the orange high temp RTV stuff is amazing.. a buddy used it on his turbocharger JET engine.. which was incredibly hot.. glowing red.. and the stuff sealed perfectly. we had to break the damn thing w a hammer to get it loose.. pretty much glued it in
  6. i changed my gaskets yesterday.. i need it to warm up to operating temp to test her... ill see if this fixes it. the old intake/exhaust gasket was BAD BAD BAD. probably the #1 reason
  7. Ok I recalculated.. from the center of the intake valve.. to the throttle boddy.. is 11.2" inches. With my ID (remeasured its 1.4" not 1.375) and my length.. I will hit the 5th intake pulse, with a peak torque of 5350 RPM! Hmm.. works out perfect since the L series runs out of breath at 5,000 RPM... so hopefully this manifold will increase the airflow and extend the power range =) I wont be cutting the runners at this time.. how about a second opinion?!
  8. Yes I know.. =) thank you for the info though!! My runners from the flange out is 6.75".. now I made them long in case I wanted to adjust em.. I just lay it out on a saw and trim them down and finalize what I like the best.
  9. trick done to stock cam? wtf is that.. regrind? and what is he doing to adjust the timing with that motor?!
  10. I used a 14" chop saw yesterday with a blade designed for cutting only aluminum.. OMG its amazing. Too bad the price range is $201 for this blade. But worth every penny. wow. saves sooo much time and amazingly clean cuts w no de-burr necessary
  11. After using a handy dandy calculator.. I determined that with my camshaft.. w a 260 duration.. and the ID of 1.375".. and a desired peak torque at 5,000 RPM.. The runner should be about 6.39" long. This length will allow the intake waves to hit their 9th pulse. To choose every 8th pulse.. the pipe should be 7.275" long. Nascar uses the 3rd intake pulse.. If I wanted to use the 3rd pulse.. I would be looking at a length of around 20" inches!! this is the link to the calculator! http://www.velocity-of-sound.com/velocity_of_sound/calculator3.htm The pics are from my mock up stage. I believe the runners are 6.5" long right now. I measured 16" inches from Cyl 1 to the strut tower. and 14" from Cyl 6 to the heat shield. My pressure plenum will be interesting to build lol. I only need to weld up Cyl. 3 and Cyl 4 now.. then the manifold will be complete. then turbo time!
  12. Sorry its a cell phone pic.. but progress! Yes its a bit off.. but this was mock up stage. I have Cyln. 1-2 5-6 all welded up now! =)
  13. Well I do have 440cc injectors right now.. my plan was to use the secondary injectors for..methanol...*cough*
  14. Olie how you doing on your ITB setup?! How were you planning on attaching the runners to the throttle bodies?! I was going to use a silicone coupler.. dont have enough time to weld up a flange and o-ring it. I wanted to run supplemental injectors.. but due to my spacing.. the stock GSXR throttle body fuel rail wont fit.. so i would need to machine a new one.
  15. I tried using a 14" chop saw at my schools shop.. and apparently the blade is not rated for aluminum or porous material.. because it clogs up the blade and can cause failure. I hate using band saws.. lol
  16. what the.. how the hell did I miss you posting that link!? wtf haha thanks man
  17. The cutting began today.. muahaha. Just need to weld on the runners to the flange.. and weld up some mounting tabs for a secure unit. Then the pressure plenum project begins
  18. http://bluegrassmuffler.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=7_554 BOOM! $15
  19. the velocity of sound site has the cheapest of $22.. but i was lookn for a lower price. thanks guys
  20. great idea! ATPturbo already released this a few years back though =( http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-ACS-010&Category_Code=BCS
  21. Stock brakes are fine.. but damn they overheat quickly.. After 3 track sessions of stock brakes.. after trying different pads and fluids.. I couldnt take it anymore.. the Toyo non-vented lasted a bit longer.. but still a bad decision. I am just going to do it right the 3rd time and go Arizona lol
  22. http://www.powerslot.com 240Z, 260Z, 280Z 1970-7/73 ALL 151 PSL & 151 PSR 8/73-1978 ALL 106 PSL & 106 PSR Those are some vented rotors you can use on a stock setup http://www.buybrakes.com/store/106PSL just like this! I was just wondering if there was another source =)
  23. LoL.. noo no. Lets just pretend.. I am using an entirely pure stock setup with the stock 280z calipers.. Ive seen a few Z's with vented or cross drilled rotors.. and stock brakes. Im trying to source down where the rotors came from!
  24. I found one company that did not offer pricing.. i think powerslot. Anyway.. im looking for a good vented rotor setup I can use for a stock setup.. I have some 4x4 calipers.. although I'm not running the vented setup. After a few track sessions.. I would like to see the difference in a vented rotor versus a solid rotor.
