  1. I drilled through most of the screws.. heated up some of them.. and tried a new set of screwdrivers at Home Depot (while i worked .. haha) and got em loose great success!
  2. Materials are all in.. I will be cutting and preparing for welding over fall break.. project should be done in 2-3 weeks. we will see how it turns out and Ill post lots of pics =)
  3. At my altitude the car idles at 12in. hg. when warm. and off boost is great.. obviously 7:1 sucks.. but its still somewhat snappy.
  4. no xbox and Forza 2 or PGR4?
  5. Ive decided I am just going to buy a .5" thick plate.. drill 1.625" and use a radius'd bit I will use with a vertical mill. I have a choice between a 1/4" radius or a 5/8" radius which is HUGE. Basically my velocity stacks will be integrated to my flange =)
  6. I would have to say an impact gun saved many many hours of agony and makes a speedy fix. ofcourse box wrenches and a socket wrench for the smaller jobs. and then the impact wrench.. dont want the car falling apart! then my welder! oh gosh so many tools But overall.. I like my impact gun! how about you guys?!
  7. umm.. im running a .488 lift and 260 duration (in/ex) cam on my car.. Phil we have very very similar specs.. and I also have a 2mm metal headgasket... I didnt need to adjust the cam sprocket at all.. only thing I did was slide in the new cam, new springs and adjusted properly.. and changed some tuning. I didnt even bother changing the timing.. and I have great power and the turbo gets full boost at 3,600 RPM. Maybe the altitude makes a difference on spool or something.. but I love my setup right now.
  8. Well I have a metal headgasket.. Im wondering if the head is beginning to warp... oh how I wonder how I wonder. Keep in mind this only squeels after about 15 min of driving. soooo I'll do a compression test.. and intake/exhuast manifold
  9. Oh.. interesting note.. these ITB's are MIKUNI! wonder if itll bolt up to a tripple carb manifold
  10. yeh those damn phillips screws on the carbs! I have a NEW set of precision phillips screw drivers.. and I cant get em loose
  11. There is no condensation =( I do have a bad gasket.. damn exhaust bolts loosen over time and started leaking.. I need to replace it. Maybe thats the problem.. but this noise.. oh man oh man. it hurts its so loud. What i cant seem to conclude is if its the gasket.. what does it have to do with relation to heat?!
  12. I have never in my life had more of a problem then with this stupid screws... I have 2 - 2006 units and brand new hardware (obviously) and I have stripped so many of these damn screws. I noticed there is a blue thread locker on them.. and OMG. I have a better chance loosening a rusted 30 year old screw then I do with these things.
  13. I've narrowed down where the noise is coming from.. Somewhere in the area of Cylinder 1, the thermostat and the distributer. Now the noise is a squeeling noise(letting air out of a balloon with a pinched valve) and is related to only vacuum. The greater the vacuum, the louder and higher pitched the noise is. Also.. this will only make the noise when HOT. the engine will not do this cold or warm.. only fully warmed up or hot. Could this be a thermostat??
  14. I have been browsing for a few hours on google and ebay... and the cheapest I could find for my application (40mm ID) is about $22 a pop! and I need 6 of em! ugh Anyway.. ya guys know a cheap source for some aluminum velocity stacks?? Ryan
  15. What? LoL I think you know what your talking about.. just can't word it properly.. Vortex generators simply interfere with the boundary layer and create a turbulent airflow which "extends" that boundary layer. As long as the moving air "sticks" to the boundary layer, there will be no separation. The point of VG's is to delay the boundary separation. In order to maximize the efficiency, the VG's are mounted as far back on the roof line, at the highest point (if possible) to re-direct the airflow separation towards the spoiler. I dont believe VG's create lift.. just interference drag. As for the "roof vane" there is very very small induced lift (which unloads suspension not the tires). With induced lift comes drag.
  16. lol. well im building ITB's now and a pressure plenum! I wouldnt be able to drive around without the turbo.. CR is stock dished pistons and a 2mm hg.. so its a loooowww cr.
  17. Ok ok ya got me lol... Im so used to drifting as (oversteer) and typical drift events are the track.. front wheels w control.. rear stepped out
  18. This has been in my head for months now.. But i kinda want to completly ditch the turbo setup... and build a High Compression N/A motor with some ITB's and a wicked cam and head work. Turbo's are a hoot.. although very simple.. its just more parts to fail or maintain. I used to dream of the sound of turbo's and make turbo noises w my mouth haha.. and now i admire the sound of tripple carb or ITB setups and POWERFUL naturally aspirated motors someone straighten me out!!!
  19. wow that car slides around alot.. not drifting but around corners all four wheels are sliding..
  20. i just went for another run. the sound stopped. WTF. i removed the charge piping and everything. and then back on. Weird.. something is going on
  21. you know I was thinking the blow off valve.. but I doubt it would be stuck open.. hmmm. ill check it out in a few min and try to put my ear up to it. and its such a weird noise.. no bov would make that this is also vacuum dependant. an increase in Vacuum increases the noise. Idle is 12 in . hg. cruise or decel is like 20in. hg. Decel is the loudest
