  1. ohh I see.. hey that might fix my problem!! Let me build one up this week and try it out!! Thanks Anthony!
  2. Thanks Anthony... But with a catch can I still need a PCV valve or check valve inbetween correct?! If the large tube goes to the intake manifold or compressor housing.. when the turbo provides boost.. your now sending the pressure into the catch can, and pressure into the valve cover and block vent. So I can run a catch can, I just need a check valve correct?! Ron I am about 10 flights from my Check Ride.. i need to take my written soon. *shivers* Before next May I need my instrument, commercial, CFI, CFII, Multi engine, AGI and MEI. yep im broke.
  3. LoL.. ya a pilot Ron?! Im workn on my instrument rating right now .. commercial by the end of the summer =)
  4. Yes the readings are with the NEW cam.. 260 duration.. and with the 2mm hg. and keep in mind the engine was HOT and dry I drove the car till operating temp and took a compression test. Density altitude during the day was around 8000 feet.. so with heat soak in the cylinders and warm engine.. the density altitude in the cylinders was probably around 9000-10000 feet. I believe the lower compression numbers are do to the intake valve being open longer, which means the piston is moving up slightly with the intake valve open. Or so I understood from zcar.com
  5. thanks for gettn that pic NeedforZ!! pictures are worth a thousand words!!
  6. I added 2 small squirts.. so I want to say roughly 1tsb or so. at first I made a booboo.. and shot in WAYY too much oil.. and gear oil too.. so the compression went to 200psi.. LoL so I added a small squirt and the numbers went up pretty much the same across the board
  7. Whew** Thanks Jon for takin a closer look at it! With all honesty.. I believe its the turbo. BUT.. only way to tell is run without the turbo and see what happens! I just need to find a day to dink around with it.. and enough time to allow the motor to cool and reinstall the turbo
  8. the motor was 135psi cold and dry two months ago. the new cam and new headgasket and HOT dry tests months later dropped the compression down considerably. Supra510.. when you built the catch can.. what do you use as check valve?! Under boost the catch can would be pressurized.. should there be a one way check valve?!
  9. http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/technics.html this has ALOT of info.. my my http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/v8_performance.html this too OMG... mm
  10. very interesting guys.. TheneedforZ you might have a point. I need to do tons of research! If anything though.. a 1uZ sounds wonderful =)
  11. CanadianZ.. I think you have it spot on! May not have a HIGH pure sound like a Ferrari or Pagani.. but that 1UZFE is cheap, affordable, easy to mod and has a great sound. mmmmmmhmhmhmh
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ41POvmeqQ&mode=related&search= I want a sound SIMILAR to this. I have been looking for years.. seems I can only get a Ferrari engine to produce this sound BTW.. this is EFFN AMAZING. I WANT THIS! Hearing a methanol burning TURBO V8 at last years Grand Prix has sent chills down my spine. Any way to replicate?!
  13. I've been lookn for a wrecked ferrari/lambo for a while now trust me!!! I would love to swap one of those babies in. I do have to be considerate of COST! changing a waterpump on a Ferrari engine for example would cost me hundreds if not thousands of dollars. WHY high revving?! for some disgusting reason I am obsessed with Formula One and super cars such as the Pagani Zonda and the Ferrar F430 and FXX... the sound.. ohh the sound!
  14. I kinda have a secret project planned. A twin turbo V8.. however I am looking for suggestions for a small (yes small) high revving V8, that belches out a exotic beautiful crisp sound. any ideas?! i was thinking a BMW V8 but i need some ideas
  15. Notice the arm sticking out that looks like it is about to hit the strut bar?! Well look directly above it.. When the suspension compresses.. the arm hits the bottom of the brake line where it attaches to the metal brake bracket and hard line. I severed a set of used brake lines that came with the calipers.. and a brand new set because I never noticed it. This is with compression on a hard turn even.. or going over a curb into the garage.
  16. Compression will go up anytime you add oil.. even if its a new motor. 10psi is a normal number to indicate the rings are good. a 20-50psi jump is a blatently obvious sign that I would need new rings.
  17. BTW maybe I should clarify. doing a HOT DRY test at 5,800 feet up.. with a P90 head and F54 block, with a 2mm headgasket and aftermarket cam... I had 100psi across the board and 110psi WET!
  18. Could it be the rings?! even if adding oil increases the compression numbers by 10psi?!
  19. Welp. Still smokes.. SON OF A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ******* ENGINE
  20. Alright.. Well I changed the valve seals.. some Viton valve stem seals from Fel-Pro I bought many many many months ago. Took about 2 hrs I am going to give it a drive after a quick shower. BTW - This valve spring compressor ROCKS!!! http://www.mytoolstore.com/kd/kdengi13.html#3087 (its on the very bottom part number KD 3087)
  21. there were rumors around my local car club that someone jacked my intercooler from my Z. great someone is thinkin of jacking my junkyard intercooler. wtf
  22. like I said be careful with those 200sx calipers.. that have the fixed e-brake arm. They will hit the brake line where the rubber/stainless meets the solid brake line. I would cut off the arm honestly
  23. the guage is fairly steady.. obviously idle isnt exactly at 600rpm.. so it bounces around 550-700rpm untill nice and warm.. so the vacuum guage will fluctuate .5" in. hg. but nothing big and stays solid once warmed up.
  24. OK I did some tests I can hold the throttle at 4,000 RPM for example and no smoke. When I let off and let the car widn back down to idle and then quickly add gas it shoots a CLOUD of smoke. SOO.. narrowing it down.. smoke is only during deceleration and/or when the engine is winding down. Does this point out any possibilites?! BTW i purchased a new valve spring compressor so I'll change them tomarrow with the head on. but I was hoping my description might help. I think Garrett is on to the right idea.. on decel or engine wind down.. the vacuum goes to about 20" in. hg. while idle is 10" in hg. seems like the increased vacuum is pulling in oil from maybe the valve stem seals!?
