  1. I installed some BPR8ES plugs today at .030" and had great success 15psi at this altitude which is equivelant to 12psi at sea level. MSD Blaster 2 coil, Megasquirt n Spark with a 83 dizzy
  2. Ok.. Well I took pictures of the wipe pattern, I went out and purchased some of that blue machinest dye so i can check the wipe pattern (Jon was right, sharpies work better) After adjusted to .008 intake and .010 exhuast this is my wipe pattern. Lots of room on the spring side (drivers side) but it looks as if the camshaft lobe is going over the lifter side (passenger side). I went ahead and snipped a small piece of .030" metal since the stock lash pads are .118" this would bring it to .048" which schneider recommends .050". so close enough. This seemed to make it worse. (that small little metal chip thing is the "shim") What do I need to do to bring the wipe pattern closer to the lifter side (passenger side) ?? Reduce the stock lash pad?
  3. Daniel which lash pads did you end up gettin? I thought we were done with snow too.. but nooo it just keeps pounding us
  4. Found this from BRAAP HMM.. rather than spending $60 for a set of 12 maybe I'll snip some .030" pieces to act as shims to check the pattern and then buy the proper set! har har
  5. I'm to the point this week where even removing my spark plugs is a hassle after spending 2 days straight on my Z lol Ok i checked all 12 rocker arms this time. First off its difficult to check with a sharpie, because you can wipe a sharpie off a rocker arm with a rag. When there is oil all over the rocker arm, I try to "dab" the oil off and it takes the sharpie too. The majority of them were fine, a little close on the passenger side of the rocker arm, but were good. Some were not so good, I could not read a definitive line from the wear pattern. I need to adjust the valves to spec and see how the wear changes, I lost my damn feeler guage last night so time to grab a new one =) Thank you guys for you patience, I know nothing about cams and how they work, so this weekend was a fun learning experience, especially this thread! Schnieder wants $60 for the lash pads (omg expensive) so ill call Nissan for em =) brb OH yeh... so do I need new retainers if I go .150 or .160?
  6. No I checked 2 and figured they would be the same. OK i guess its time to dismantle the head again. LoL Thank you Jon, thank you everyone. I'll pull the car in the garage in a few minutes and check it out. Its snowing like crazy right now here in Denver.
  7. k. I used a sharpie and colored the rocker arm and swung the lobes around the rocker arm, everything looked fine to me and the lobe didnt go out of the contact patch on the rocker arm.
  8. UGH and one more thing, I called schnieder.. they recommended a lash pad thickness of .150 or .160. I am running the stock lash pads. Obviously I need to upgrade to .150 or .160, can I keep the stock retainer?!
  9. actually I was reading the specs on the sheet you faxed me Justin, it says COLD valve lash .008 intake and .010 exhuast! whooa I was still using the .010 intake and .012 exhuast! ouch better change that! justin what valve lash pads did you use?! I am still using the stock ones. OH yeh, wangsman on Zcar.com recommended I use diesal engine oil.. whatt!! why diesal oil?!
  10. weird im gettin a weird mis-fire now around 5200 rpm and on. I checked the valve lash which is great on a hot spec.. think maybe I need to change the gapping on my spark plugs? Im using the same plugs I used before.. hmm I only drove the car around the block to feel the power band, but normally the rev limiter kicks in at 5,200 and cuts hard at 5,800 so I assumed that stutter was the rev limiter. The feeling is described as a hesitation and continues to hesitate at any higher RPM. AFR is about 10.8 (to be safe) I also pulled out the timing gun which read 24 degrees at idle which is what megasquirt is reading so I didnt mix it up a tooth or anything. any idea's?
  11. haha oh lordy that scares me. are the stock springs the limiting factor with a safe rev limit on the Z's?!
  12. think I can do it safely now without much problems Jon?!
  13. looks good the cars should be on the bottom of the picture, rather than the top or centered in the picture. Less street, more car, more backround. Increase the contrast too, you want the blacks to look black, not a grey
  14. Welp I finally got rid of my P90a and those annoying ticking lifters ( i hate hydraulic lifters ) I upgraded to a Schneider cam with .488 valve lift and a 260 duration, vacuum dropped from 19in. hg. at idle to 12in. hg. definatly sounds beefy. I also installed the heavy duty valve springs so the old stock springs don't crap out. Not a huge difference in power, but a GREAT powerband up to 6,000 where I have my rev limiter set. Im not used to the solid lifters so it still sounds kidna noisey even after a 0.010 intake and 0.012 exhuast hot lash adjustment. Wipe pattern is good. oh and I have a HKS 2mm headgasket! score!
  15. whoa that second pic Nelson sent is almost identical to my accident! Weird huh! even look at the headlight bucket and the seperation distance from the hood!
  16. BTW Moby's map is with 450cc injectors I used Moby's map and I never changed the REQ fuel values, I changed the VE values
  17. Crazy ex girlfriends.. She thought I was cheating on her, so she hit me while driving, the car spun around and hit the rear quarter. last pic is the $200 parts car I used to fix her up!! heheh [/img]
  18. what did you change the req fuel to? increase the req fuel value, your running too lean
  19. those are Champ cars!! not Formula One cars FYI awsome pics though!
