  1. Hybridz has tons of great info on the ls1, and a lot of the info can be used on the s13/s14 chassis. You can also check out http://www.silviaV8.com. It's a small forum I run, but lot's of knowledgeable guys on the board.
  2. I bought my rolling evo chassis for not much more than that in 07 never mind 2017. I don't buy cars for investment, I buy them to have fun building and running them. I never said I don't love my 240z. I think you guys are missing my point. I am a car guy and wouldn't even say at the end of the day it's still a honda. If that is what you are into building it's cool with me.
  3. ^I run silviav8.com and the guy who owns that car is on there. Also the guy I bought my evo 9 engine from, sold it to put an ls1 in it. I have had every part of an evo apart and I can tell you the build quality is very good. Stock they come with aluminum body panels, (10) forged aluminum suspension arms and brembo brakes. Interior is nice, don't expect lux, but to me lux is gay. I like gt3 type interior. At the end of the day an evo can be made to go around a track, up a hill, or down the strip quicker than most cars out there for not much money. Plus it has a full back seat and trunk. The only thing I hate about the evo is the looks, but I don't buy a performance car for anything more than performance. I love the ls1 engine, sh1t I have a forum dedicated to putting it in a 240sx. Have had one in a fc, will have one in my s13 and if I had enough money I would have one in my s30. I hate that "at the end of the day" thinking. Everyone sinking v8's, big money, time, and blood sweat and tears into there s30 must be crazy then. Cause at the end of the day, it's still a datsun.
  4. ^Hell yeah!!! Don't under estimate the evo. They can be built to run high 9's. The car I am building is for road racing and hill climbs, not into drag but it will run high 10's.
  5. Thanks! So 51mm = 2.0094 The 2" ID tubing should work great then, may just need to grind a little. What do you guys suggest 1/4" or 3/16" thick tubing?
  6. For a 1973 240z, what is the OD of the strut tubes? I am installing coilovers and need to buy some metal tubing to weld to the tubing so the threaded sleeve can sit on it. I am thinking about getting some 2" ID tubing. BTW how thick tubing should I go with? I was thinking 1/4" but maybe 3/16... The car is at my old mans shop 1hr away that's why I can't measure this myself. Thanks!
  7. Awesome thanks John! Anyone know what the other cars have?
  8. Does anyone know or can measure the hub bore F&R for the: 240z Rota RB wheels fit. 260z ? 280z ? 280zx ? Trying to figure out if the rota wheels will fit. Please use a caliper if you can, I am trying to get a correct number. Pete S if I recall has a 280z and posted it was approx. 2.875" 2.875 = 73.024999999 The wheels are 73 just to get an idea why I need an exact number. Also is the front and rear the same on these cars. I have a 240z but it's up at my old man's shop 45min away and don't plan on going up there for awhile. Thanks guys!
  9. Does anyone know what aftermarket ball joints come with castle nuts instead of nylocks? Thanks
  10. Nice!! I like them in black. I hope they come out with 16x8 16x9 on the cheap but I doubt it.
  11. I will be picking my kid up in the 240z in 3 more months. It is safer to have your kid in the back, but if you are just going down the street and won't be going above 25mph I see nothing wrong with it. As long as you don't have airbags or you have them turned off. I will turn my airbags in the 240z off when I pick my kid up. My dad said he use to have me in the car seat between him and my mom when he owned a vette. Weeeeeeeeeeeee! I think that's how I got my need for speed.
  12. I see your point but accidents happen on or off track. You could total your truck, trailer, and race car in one fail $woop. Your truck could die when you are the furthest from home. Leaving you stranded with not 1 but 3 vehicles stranded. I have towed to lot's of tracks with VIR and Grattan being my longest hauls, done alone btw. I can say hands down the towing part is far more dangerous than the actual racing. The only plus about towing is: 1) you can stop at a truck stop and jump out back and take a nap then back on the road. Saves you some money and time. Right back on the HWY in seconds! 2) you can sleep in the van or trailer at the track. Saved me a ton of money. But throw a tent in the GT3 and you are set, that's my plan, well the tent not the GT3 3)You can take the garage with you. I admit you can't beat this. I plan on having a really small trailer to hold a set of tires, tool box, and pop tent that's all you need. I am just sick of all the vehicles, maintance, towing, blah, blah! For me I am scaling back. I know it's not for everyone just giving my experience. I also like spending other peoples money. Get a GT3. lol Really if you have the money and space the more the better. I don't have either.
  13. Mike sell everything and buy a 997 GT3 RS. The only car you need. Drive to work everyday in it then drive to the track and kill everything! Go on a weekend trip, whatever. Or if you live in a snow area get the 997 AWD Turbo. My point is if you can afford it you only need one car that does everything it's the 997 GT3 or 997 AWD Turbo. What I have: 97 E350 Powerstroke diesel (selling) 04 24' enclosed trailer (selling) 04 Formula Race Car (selling) 91 240sx (might be selling) 02 Jetta 1.8 turbo with coilovers/swaybars (wifes car, yes with coilovers) 73 240z As you can see I am selling everything except the z (don't think I can ever sell it) and going to one car that does it all. Meaning track and DD. If I could afford it, it would be the 997 GT3. I can't even afford the 996 GT3. So right now I have no clue what I am going to get. Will just drive the 240z and save. If you have one NICE car you don't need a big garage. Less headaches, just maintain one car. You don't need a truck to pull a race trailer just drive it to the track like they did in the good old PCA days. Now everyone has a rig. ♥♥♥♥ that. You don't need a truck to pickup rolling chassis and stuff. Get faster because you drive it everyday vs the track car 2 weekends a month if you are lucky.
  14. Yeah they are 15x7 +0. Not sure if they have come out with 16x7 +0 fast forwards yet. I am sure they will as the konig 16x7's have been out for awhile now.
  15. Awesome! You the man!! btw do you have a 240, 260, or 280? JSK site http://www.autobrakeworks.com/
  16. Yes JSK is back. I will post the website when I get home in 7hrs. If anyone knows if the JSK big brake wilwood front and rear kit will clear the sportmax 002's with no spacers please post. I think it's the same as the AZ big brake kit pretty much so if anyone has the AZ kit and 002 that would also help. Bluto what exactly do you have for brakes? Thanks for the help!
  17. Go 16x8 much better tire selection. 15x8= 225/60 15 too much sidewall for me 16x8= 225/50 16 lot's of great tires in this size. I have the 16x8 sportmax have not bought tires yet going 225/50 16. I am thinking about going with the JSK brake setup also just worried the sportmax 002's are NOT going to fit without spacers. If you get the 002 please keep us informed if they clear without spacers!!!
