  1. For many years I've been intrigued by the 70's z car's that I'd rarely see in the upper midwest. It was a rare occurance you'd catch one driving and I was always aroused by how small and sleek they looked. I started my search to find a project z over a year ago and could find nothing but cancerous crap up here in the salty winters we have. I expanded my search and felt that a field trip was bound to happen to get a solid car. I ended up talking with a nice older gentlman from Seattle (Kent) Washington that had an all original car that he had owned and maintained meticulously since 1990. After talking for about a week, I decided that was a car worth purchasing. I flew out to Seattle in June and took a chance at driving a 37 year old car on a 1,700 mile trip back to Minnesota. And so the journey begins....For those who are intrigued by pictures, my photobucket link is below: http://s176.photobucket.com/user/StockCarMafia/library/LS2%20280Z?sort=3&page=1 I made it back with no issues. The interior is in great shape with the typical fading of the black carpet. The dash has no cracks and the driver seat has a small tear. The body has been repainted but it was a quick spray with no bondo used. It is really faded and flaking off in some spots. The only signs of rust on the car is one spot in the back hatch area, where I assumed water was sitting and then in the battery tray as well. After the long trip, it definitely needed a bath!
  2. What brass elbow and size tubing did you have to use for the steam vent? I like the way it looks and turned out.
  3. I don't get why they wouldn't shave the front side marker and mold the kit in to the body line.
  4. Nice work CableSrv. Those Speedhut gauges look quite nice.
  5. How did you get the Cxracing tranny mount to work? Are you getting the headers coated as well?
  6. It looks like the LS3 pan is fool proof for an LS swap. This is probably what I'll end up using.
  7. Once the snow flies up here in MN, I am going to be pulling my L28 out of my '78. Just like most I've been collecting information for all portions of my LS2/T56 swap for the last 2 months here and there but life has me busy. This is the first I've heard of Hoke's kit and I wonder if he has any more prototype mounts I could document for him. I've been contemplating the cxracing kit as well but am not a fan of the small primaries, however they are still longtubes. I see a few cx guinea pigs and I hope to see some updates before too long.
  8. Fullauto, that looks great. That motor is really set back in the engine bay. I am curious how the headers perform, the collector looks to be quite restricting. I wonder if the 280z tranny tunnel is the same width as yours above. I guess we won't know until others try the kit.
  9. I'm curious to know how these mounts turned out. Their headers seem to be 1 1/2" but I'd like to know if anyone has used them?
  10. Cable, it sounds like I'll be able to sell the pan in a heartbeat.
  11. Warlord, how did your build end up going? I may or may not have just picked up an LS2/T56 combo and am doing some in depth reading
  12. Thanks guys. I got a pullout of a GTO, so it looks like the corvette pan is what I'd be looking for.
  13. Does anyone know if the stock LS2 oil pan will work?
