Hey guys, I'm getting closer!.. I have read here that the 1-3/4 headers a major plus on the LS1 over the smaller tube units.. does JTR have an install package deal yet?.. LS1 mounts and headers? I am getting to drop a little more money and I would like a proven set with the biggest tube headers... Myron

Sir Daniel, I plan on using the latest and greatest guages from autometer.. I havnt decided on which models yet though.. I will use an electronic spedo that should mate up with the LS1 computer... I pulled the stock round A/C vents from the TA donor car last night... I have a nice stockpile of Stereo gear that will be installed as well.... I will have all of the TG holiday to myself to work on this thing so I should get alot done.. Myron
-
Owen, Yeah, I can see the screen.. I also plan on having one in the part of the dash that faces me... that one is pretty much for passenger entertainment only! Cool thing is, I have a little IR CCD that when turned on, the LED's focus a nice beam of light... I can turn that thing on and see right through tinted windows at night... I gotta see if someone is cracking open a bottle or flicking a few switches! By the time I'm done, Go-Go-Gadget himself would have a hard time figuring out what is going on.. Myron

Thanks SirDaniel, I hav alot more smoothing to do before I glass it.. Wont be long though! It is gonna rain all week out here so I will have plenty of time to work on it.. I am going to use a Grant GT or something similar... along with a GM style tilt column... I just had to stick that wheel back in for placement.. Myron
-
Here is a pic from last night.. I will have an indash screen in the stereo and one seperate screen for the passenger.. I will have the pass screen attached to a small CCD facing out the back of the car for easy viewing of the car behind me!.. it will also be attache to a TV tuner and DVD...

Best bet for a stock dash that is messed up is a cover.. I have tried fixing the cracks and it is just too har to get them to blend.... I am hoping this dash expirament turns out good... I am getting ready to go sand and carve some more... I got one of my little "screens" ready to get fitten in ther... I may also work on an A pillar guage pod.... More pics in the morning... Myron

May want to tell the guy to re-evaluate sendng the truck to Hennesey... I am not even sure he is still in business.. I hear there is lots of bad things going on over there... Better do a little searching around on the net before he looses alot of money... Just a friendly tip Myron

I was busy last night... It is really starting to take shape..There are more in my gallery for anyone interested.. Myron[/img]http://hybridz.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=446 Well, I dont hink I will ever figure out how to upload pics to this thing!

Tim, I keep trying to get the guy to "sponsor" a Z car build... He is donating a super nice Blauplunk(sp) A/V system though... He gets all that suff SUPER cheap... As it turns out the Dodge dealership swapped out one of its Vipers to a sister GM dealer so they got to keep the cash.. His other toys include a Harley Davidson truck w/ SC and upgrades, A new Chrysler 300 Hemi and a 26' Cobalt with a 500 inch motor. Mas280, I didnt notice any flaws with this thing, but I sure wasnt looking either!. I know that 400#s felt real good when I dropped the hammer!

I cant beleive this idiot is complaining about being sued... "masterpeice" my AZZ!!!... Put that in any park in a muslim community and they would sue him too!.. Maybe even stone him to death.. You also have to wonder what idiot park official put together a viewing of that crap without viewing it first!... And another thing... I think sex ed should be up to the parents.. not a statue in a city park... that "artist" obviously has no kids and no life if he is going to create something like that... One last thing.... It sure looks like "father muslim" has a cross hanging from his neck.... what is that supposed to symbolize? Myron And I am really confused as to what this world is becoming...

YEAH BABY!!! Hey guys, I have this customer that has oodles and oodles of "play" money.... He went to the dealership the other day and put a deposit down on a Dodge SRT 10 4 door Automatic truck "Buble Bee"... (special edition thing) anyway he got tired of waiting for it..... He comes tooling up to the office in a new SCREAMING yellow 05 Vette.. LS2... 6 litre... 400HP 400TQ 6 speed.... He let me take it for a litte spin... That car is awesome!.... It doesnt require a key to get into or start it.. just a little thingy in your pocket.. as you get close to the car, it unlocks the door.. then you just get in and push in the clutch and hit the start button... It had the handling package with the large cross drilled brakes... I REALLY HAVE THE BUG TO GET MY Z DONE NOW!! Myron
-
Zhadman, I havnt been there yet!.... For those interested, I started on my dash last night.. I posted a couple pics in my gallery... I still havnt figured out how to post them in the thread... Again.. I just started last night so the dash shape is just a raw outline.... Myron

RumbleZZZ, Yes, I live near austin.. in Kyle actually... 17 miles south of 71 and 35. I am going to go to San Marcos tonight and get some foam... if you wanna come by this evening that would be fine... gimme a shout 936-443-9359 Myron
-
Owen, OH NO!! it melts... BUT I have some model airplane iron on mylar stuff that is super thin and it shrinks when heated and it forms real nice to compound curves ... I have also used packing tape to keep the resin from eating the foam.... I am going to try to pick up a sheet of it today so I can start tonight on the dash... Myron
-
On the green console I am working on, I used the green flourist foam and liquid nails to make the base shape... I have discovered that if you use the Blue insualtion foam from Lowes, you can use use packing tape or another mylar iron on covering to make it slick before you apply the fiberglass resin and you can work the FG off the foam.. I also use hot glue to bond the blue stuff..... 83SupaZ, You can get the resin and supplies at your local auto parts store... Make a mold out of foam and layer the glass over it as the direction state... after that, it is all up to your imagination.... Myron
-
Driftn, What are your pics of?... I see little red a "x".... I remove most of the foam after I'm done, BUT If you not careful and your foam is thick, your part may not fit very well unless you space it back up.. I have pretty much decided to make a complete dash... One way to get it to fit snug is to use a block of wood where your going to mount the part to the chassis... Fiberglass it in place then drill the mounting hole.... Myron

Hey guys, I am still kicking around the idea of a totally custom dash... As for the current center console, I was planning on an indash DVD/Stereo with the integrated screen so making it swivel woul be a bit tricky... I was digging around in my model airplane video gear and I have an extra set of Rosen 6.4" lcd's with tuners and the whole bit... since I already have that I am thinking about installing on of those on the passenger side of a custom dash... I am still looking around for a GPS system that uses an RCA interface instead of a PC based unit.. that way I can just flip a switch and view my location..... Perfect for that female passenger that insist upon being a "backseat driver"..... Thanks again for the props!... If you havnt seen it, go to Owens homepage and checkout his interior... Looks like Owen has known about the blue foam for a long time already.... If your thinking about trying.... Go for it! Myron
-
Hey Owen, I thought about that, but the indash LCD would be hard for the passenger to see if it was aiming at me!... I am still contemplating making an entire dash and new console.. My little brother is trying to convice me to graft the dash out of my 98 TA donor car into the Z but I'm still undecided.. I would rather make my own custom dash than a stock Pontiac dash.. I look at one of those everyday anyway! Myron

Hey Tim, Hows those covers holding up? The foam that is easy to work with and sand can be purchased at Lowe's Home improvement.. It usually comes in a 2'x8'x 2" thick sheet and it sells for around 14.00 per sheet which would be more than enough to build a dashboard and console. It is a very dense and brittle insulation made by 3M, it is light blue in color.... If your real crafty, you will buy a regulated transformer and some picture hanging wire and make a "hot wire bow"... You can use the bow to make perfect cuts through the foam.. the wire actually melts a fine "cut" through the foam.... I use this method to make wings for my model airplanes and it works like a champ. Myron
-
Hey guys, Thanks again for the support!... Rumble, I am already contemplating a dash..I almost started one last night! The foam is pretty easy to work with and I have since come up with some better foam that sands down as smooth as bondo... I will keep the details coming as I make progress... Myron
-
Hey guys, Thanks for the props!.. and Dcarrow, Thanks for uploading them!... I am trying to keep it halfway light so I am not going to use any filler for the rough spots... I am going to sand is some more then try to decide what to use to cover it.. maybe a vinyl or "pleather" of some sort... I also thought about using a tweed like fabric... I just dont know yet... It is pretty rigid and I am confident it will support whatever I mount in it.. I have some carbon fibre sheets that are about 12"x 12" and 1/8th an inch thick that I will use on the surface for cosmetic reasons... If this one turns out decent I will make a pillar guage mount as well.. Myron
-
Hey guys, I doing my conversion, I figured I would need more room for guages and stereo gear... I decided to make my own console out of fiberglass. It is far from finished and this is only the raw shape... I made a foam plug and sanded it to shape then covered it with a couple layers of glass.. I have alot more sanding to do before its ready to cover... tell me what you think.... Well, I cant seem to get the link in here... the pics are in my album if anyone is interested..... Myron [/img]

LS1 240-280 guys with motor mount pics or plans
MYRON replied to MYRON's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Quik240, Dude... SWEET!... it looks like the mount has an "ear" that matches the shape of the side of the stock datsun mount.. Does it weld onto the stock mount and cross member or does it weld to the frame rail of the car or both or neither??? I am liking the fit, seems that there is plenty of room in front of the motor for a SC or turbo!!... How about using the stock LS1 power stearing pump and doing a PS conversion as well? Myron
