  1. OK Guys, Look real close at that "scoop".. Isnt it one of those things you hang on the wall of you office to put papers in?.... Myron
  2. DJ, You have to be careful with header selection when you go with the angle plug heads. I originally purchased some inexpensive block huggers from summit. After I had the engine in position and mounted solid with the cheap headers (and plenty of clearance)I tried to install the plugs...NO GO... I then had to buy some headers that had the two center pipes just opposite of how the summit's were. Then I had to raise the engine up to clear the stearing shaft. Mike has the best solution in adding another Ujoint to re-route the stearing shaft around the different header... Myron
  3. I am in the technology sector and it came on so strong with the y2k bug thing that most people upgraded their systems at the end of 99. The technology market since then has plumeted and from what all the mfg's that I deal with that are still in business are all still saying that the light at the end of the tunnel is the train coming this way. It stinks! Since Y2K came around my salary has dropped a total of 43K in less than 2 years, not to mention my 401k that was all tech based went down the toilet to the point where I had to cash out. I had to sell my Z, my ATV, my guns, most of my R/C Airplanes pretty much everthing that was not a necessity had to go. I am looking for a change of industry and I am starting this monday! Unfortunately I will be selling some equipment that no one wants, but shops have to have... emmission system testing equipment. Fortunately I will also be selling cool stuff like lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers, pipe benders, and all the cool Timm Allen type stuff... So if anyone of you guys own a automotive service shop, look me up! Myron
  4. Jet-Hot claims 30-40 degree temp drops if you have them coat the inside and outside of your headers. We all know all to well how the underhood temps of the Hybridz can cause some problems. Heatsoak on the starter being a big one and not to mention the loss of power.. Myron
  5. OK, I am a little confused here... I have owned Z cars of every year model from 75-82...Last I checked the Datsun/Nissan was made in Japan. The cars were imported probabaly on the same ship that 300 tons of rice came in on. Most of us dont class ourselves as a "RICER" because we dont use stickers for performance mods, nor do we think that a torch is the best way to lower a car for better handling. We also dont have much use for a formula 1 wing and body kit on a car that doesnt have enough power to top 110 MPH, But arent we still driving what many people would consider a "Rice Burner"??? Myron
  6. If you plan on running that kind of HP you should put a full cage in the car along with reinforcing the subframes. Also the stock rear suspension will not hold up for long to that kind of power. You need to look into heavily modding the back half and even maybe a solid axle. Are you planning on having this as a track only car or do you plan on cruizing the streets?.. If you plan on cruizing the streets you will have more than enough power with a mild 383 to smoke just about anything on the road... You may want to look at some of the websites that can calculate performace based on HP/Weight ratios. I am sure that you will find that a 350 Hp engine will propel the 240 to some pretty impressive speeds. I think www.carmath.com is one of them. I think Kevin Shasteen and and Grumpy probably know the formulas by heart... My car was aprox 464HP and it was a handfull at WOT... Not many cars could keep up with her on the streets either.. Myron
  7. Yes, That is a members car! His name is Bobby (NOSZ28) I have a bunch of pictures I took of the car on my system here if anyone would like to see them. Bobby is a great guy and the car is super nice. I hope he gets what he wants for it. I believe he is selling it to get another crotch rocket. Myron
  8. That is an ugly site. Reminds me of the time when I was around 14 and me and a friend were riding our bikes around the neighborhood. We passed a huge 4 door something or other, I think it was an early 70's Bonneville parked sideways across the ditch. As we passed the car I spotted a cool baseball cap next to it just under the drivers door. I thought cool I found a new hat. Too bad there was a head attached!.. the guy drove the car perpendicular to the ditch to creat some room to work on the under carriage. He put bricks behind the front tires(in the dirt)then he proceded to remove the driveshaft. Long story short, we found a dead guy who was doing the same stupid thing as in the picture. It was traumatic deal for us being so young and frantically trying to find a jack to get him out. We were in a rural community and when the fire department got there we had already got enough help to get him from under the car... his wife and 4 little kids looked on pretty helplessly.. it was a bad deal all together... I guess that taught me a valuable lesson... USE PROPER EQUIPMENT!!! Myron
  9. If your problem is the front of the diff hitting the e-brake cable, you can do the cheapest and easiest and quickest fix. Go to auto parts house or home depot and get a length of chain and one of those chain links that you can open. Hoop it around and hook it together. It takes more time jacking up the car than it does to use the chain. Yes it is somewhat of a rig, but it is plenty stong, it will let the diff move a little but the best part is it wont break and it is cheap!.. I think I bought the chain kit designed for pulling engines and it had 2 lengths of chain and 2 hoops.. Myron
  10. That is too cool. I have been a big Lego fan for many years. I currently have a few of the robotic discovery sets that have most of the parts used in that crane. there are some all metal parts used that I think are a custom piece. The Robotics set has motors, photocells, touch sensors, light sensors, and even a PC programable IR box... Pretty cool stuff! Myron
  11. Thats AWESOME Pete!.. the car looks great. My wife was scared to death to get into my car! You have actually come a long way since the Hybridz site was established.. I know it feels really good to get car finally out onto the street. And it is going to be even more fun after a litlle break in and tuning when you can "air it out".... Gongrats. Keep us posted Myron
  12. Anybody seen the write up the truckin magazines about the special edition viper powered truck?... It all out smokes the lightning... It has the ViperV10 and 6 speed manual box.. The shootout in the mag claimed 12.9 in the qtr and 0-60 in 5 flat!!... It will be priced close to the Viper at a questimated 60K... it looked pretty tough... Black on Black with some NASTY rubber.. Myron
  13. I did just that and the guys at Autozone didnt even look. The swap cost me a total of like 79.00 bucks! that included the new pads.... You will have to trim down your that sheet metal dust cover a little for the new calipers to fit. Myron
  14. I was reading and article in a trucking magazine and they(Dodge)are talking about the all new 350 CI Hemi... I was foaming at the mouth when I saw the article. I would love to trade in my Durango for a new one with that motor.. 340HP/360TQ.. Yeah Baby!!!.. Only the bad news is that it will only be offered in the dually... DOH!!... I am sure one could be ordered in a a crate before too long... Myron
  15. There could be more to the story. My Dad services the local PD's lifts and auto service equipment here in Conroe and at HPD in Houston. One flaw that you probabaly havnt heard of is after those cars get to be higher mileage the pinch gaps that hold the back portion(trunk and spring pearch area)of the the unibody gets fatigued and they are coming apart making a crack that runs the width of the car just above the rear axle all the way to the top of the spring perches. I could see that this would severly weaken the structure of the car and make it far more dangerous in a rear end collision... Myron
  16. My front suspension is currently at Bob's Racecar Chassis in Conroe getting chrome moly tube control arms/heim joints AND a power rack.. I will try to find out which one he used/planning to use.... Myron
  17. I'm with your on that one Ray! Myron
  18. Lockjaw... no heat from me!.. I pack heat, .45 Government Model with an xtra 600.00 invested in mods... I have 160 hours of CQB training to boot. As Mr.T says "I pitty the fool"
  19. Thanks Guys, At least Shane got some shots off in the gun battle. When Randy was killed it was over two brothers arguing about another guest of the wedding reception NOT drinking enough congac. One brother got mad at the other for taking sides of the non-drinker. Randy broke up the fight and told them if they kept acting up that he would have to throw them out. that is what got him killed... FUBAR...just plain FUBAR Myron
  20. This is the second time for me that a personal friend has been killed in the line of duty. Those of you from the Houston area have probabaly seen the news. Harris County Deputy Shane Bennet was killed trying to help a family in a gang related hostage situation. Deputy Randy Eng was killed December 21 1996. He was shot in the head in an ambush after breaking up a fight at a wedding reception. My hats off to any of you that serve to keep us safe... Myron
  21. If the car is not registerd/titled to you and you get busted "stealing it back" from an impound yard, I think you have just committed GTA(Grand Theft Auto). What is that guys like 5-10 at the taxpayers expense?... They will NOT let you claim the car unless you show proof of ownership or an insurance card on the vehicle in your name. OH, and technicaly the wrecking yard can shoot you trying to steal it... They just look at it like someone is stealing a car that is in their posession and they are then responsible.... I had a hair brained scheme very similar after my Z got towed from an afterhours club. It was legally parked in the lot next door, but after a certian time in the morning "no parking" signs magically sprouted from the ground, right about the time the wreckers showed up.. I got a ride to the location and when I had 1 leg over the fence a very unhappy lot attendant came running brandishing a large semi-auto pistol!.. Fortunatly they coudlnt see very well and didnt recognize me when I payed up the 80 bucks for the tow... I think it is a bad idea to try to "steal" your car back... OH, have you ever seen the "Faces of Death" video where the 2 car theives were trying to steal a car from a railroad loading yard?. The security camera was panning back and fourth and caught bits of the attack.. 2 Rotties or Dobies ATE one of the theives.. the cops had to kill the dogs to get close to the body... Are you still thinking about it? Myron
  22. Sounds like trouble to me!.. I think most wrecker places keep track of VIN #'s and when the new owner goes to register the car in his name what is going to happen when it comes up stolen from an impound lot.. DUDE!! the cops got your car dont let them get you or the poor guy you sell it to... I had what I felt was a no big deal legal issue back in 89 when I was 19 yrs old... I didnt get off probation until I was 27.. that whole thing cost me 15+ grand... Your 22 years old, your gonna be kicking yourself when you get out of jail or off probation... I had to piss in a cup every 2 weeks at random for 2 years and then once a month for 6 more years after that... Lets see, your young, you probabaly "party" to a certain extent and with this stunt you will miss out on a good portion of your youth... I am done being a dad!!!.. I guess everyone must learn from their mistakes. I promise not to post the "I TOLD YOU SO's" when you get back from your all expenses paid vacation... Myron
  23. It looks WAY cool!... Lets chop the top, do a little streching, widening, throw on some 20's,maybe a little fiberglass work and make it happen! Myron
  24. This was a big wakeup call for him. My little brother(23 yrs)got a deal on a 2000 Ninja ZX6 the other day.. Basically he just took up payments on the bike for a girl that repoed it from her dead beat boyfriend... Long story short he was stitting at a stoplight and he heard screeching tires.... WHAAAAMMMMOOO.... He got hit from behing and then pushed into the back of a minivan... Right as he started to jump from the bike is when he got hit so the impact threw him clear of the 2 cars... A jeep Cherokee with a fresh out of drivers ed driver... she hadnt had her license 2 weeks.... Bike is totaled my brother got extreemly lucky.. The bumper was "V'ed" in on the Jeep to the point it busted the radiator and the back gate on the minivan was wasted and the window blown out. He had just put new tires on the bike to... Turns out the girl was not yet on her parents policy and the insurace company refused to pay the claim.... BE CAREFUL OUT THERE MIKE AND ANY OTHERS THAT RIDE!!! you never know where its coming from.... Myron
  25. How about this... DONT LET YOUR LIVE IN GIRLFRIEND BE A SIGNATORY ON YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT!!!..... I did. We broke up and after I removed her from my account and sent her packing she STILL snagged a check and got away with 20 grand..... That was a real mess.... Myron
