So I'm doin a little dance right now!!!
MYRON replied to MYRON's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hey Guys, A little update!.. It took most of the weekend of shuffeling around cars, but I got my 98 donor picked up!... Talk about a beater! Man this car looked a little like Elliot Sadlers M&M's car after one of his now famous "flip and tumbles"!!!... Literally the only exterior part of the car that could be re-used is the left tail light and the passenger window!... It was FULL of water because the T-Tops were gone, The door skins were seperating from the door frames, The doors woudlnt close.. Man it was rough.. BUT... stuck a battery on it, fired right up and I drove it onto the trailer.... I am still undecided about the tranny though.... I want a stick for the fun factor, but I am also gonna drive this car daily.... Myron -
LS1 240-280 guys with motor mount pics or plans

Hey Guys, Anyone using the mounts and hardware from Johns Cars? Myron -
Failed emissions due to "Nox" test... bummer
MYRON replied to KraZeeZX's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Vann, I have seen and heard of cars running fine and throwing NO code but the KNOX readings being way out of whack... Not that it would make a big difference in getting your sticker, but you may want to ask the station if his system is calibrated... also, Why dont you register your car in San Marcos (Hayes Co.)? I dont think you have to put it on the sniffer out here... If the system all checks out and there is nothing wrong with your car, send me a PM, I may be able to help you with your problem.. Myron -
I had a beefed up 700R4 and I never could make peace with it in a 450+ HP car... I would probabaly go with the 200.... I hear you can run more power through them but no personal experience... Myron

Hey Sparky, Yeah, its good to be back!... Did you make good use out of those parts yu got from me?... Sumo.. The car looks like it went through a pinball machine so the body is totally hosed.. He just need to get out from under it quick so he could fix his car... Looks like Johns Cars has some LS1 hardware... I will probably just buy what he has instead of fabbing up my own stuff... Myron -
Hey guys, As some of you already know, I scored a 98 LS1 donor car... I am looking for motor mount pics if you have any... If so, please send them or a link to "myron@axcesstech.net" I have tons of 1/4 aluminum plate that I would like to use to fab up some mounts... the motor is still in the donor car and I wont have it in the same location as my Z for a few weeks... Jeff, Its the whole car! If it was in Austin, I woudlnt need a place to store it. I think I have the storage thing worked out though... Now I just gotta get a trailor and a few wheels so I can get it moved... I am already looking at SC's and possible Turbos for it... Lots of pros and cons going either way... Myron -

Watch out Hickl, I'm coming after you!... Tim, I am already thinking of creative powder coating for this thing.... I am trying to arrange a place to store it until I can get down there and strip it... Jeff, you got a big garage right???.. I am really looking forward to finally making forward progress with this thing... BTW: does JTR have mounts for the LS1 yet? Myron -

Thanks for the heads up!.. I will keep searching around try to decide the best course of action... Last thing I wanna do is bust axles like I did in my 77'! Myron -
So I'm doin a little dance right now!!!
MYRON replied to MYRON's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Jim, I am not sure about the axle.. I know of some guys running pretty decent power through them with no problems in heavy Fbody cars.. I guess I figured more HP and alot less weight that the axle strength would not be an issue... My main concern was to get the motor before anyone else did... I do plan on getting rid of the automatic tranny... My last V8Z had a 464HP/ TH350 and stock R200 BAD MIX!!!! Myron -
Hey guys, And everyone is laughing at me... It's the "happy" dance.... I SCORED a 98 LS1 TA.. for 1800.00 bones.... It is an automatic so that will have to tradded off... It has 60K miles and runs great... Lady that owned it let her 17 yr old kid drive it ONCE in the rain... DOH! the body looks like it went through a pinball machine and there is not a single good panel or window but with a hot battery it fired right up, good oil pressure and it goes into gear and seems to shift fine... I plan on keeping all the essentials for the Z other than the tranny... I am going to try to offload that as soon as I get it pulled... The axle will go to the chassis shop and get cut down to fit... the LS1 will sit on my stand until it is ready to go in.. I am probabaly going to order an Fbody SC or turbo kit for it... I cant have less HP than my original V8 car so I am shooting for at least 500 HP..... Myron

Hey Guys, My cousin was in the Tekken movie as well as a Jackie Chan flick. Here is a link.. his fighing style is not as smooooth as the Brazilian one, but it I am sure is is pretty effective! http://www.ronsmoorenburg.nl/ Myron

Those "mowers" are getting more popuplar in the RC community lately. I havnt flown one but I have seen many fly... Now that Halloween is upon us, look for the Witch on a Broomstick version.. Its pretty funny to watch them fly as well... Myron

Hey guys, Have any of you seen/used/know about the fiberglass dashboard that Arizona Z car sells? http://www.arizonazcar.com/dash.html I started making my own mold a while back but now I am thing about this thing... Any comments Myron
-
Pete, I dont have the casting book handy so I cant say if there is any real difference... If all you have is the short block it probabaly doesnt matter which you use because you will need to put new heads on it anyway... If you have both year long blocks then go with the 72.... 77 wasnt a good year for decent HP at all.. Myron

Hey guys, I think the funniest thing about the whole "ricer"(or should I say sun compact) thing is that the kids driving these cars dont seem to do any research about what they ar talking about... I guess a movie is all they need to watch to get all the "facts" that they need.... There is one of those kids here at work, and I gotta say he (unknowingly) is a big reason I am going to start throwing money at my Z again.. He always has the Sport Compact and turbo magazines in his pocket and he is always talking about how he races and how fast his car is and all that jaz... He asked me "how fast did my car top out at in the 1/4?"... My response was 117.6 @ 12.24.......... His response was "OH for real?"... and then he followed that by saying "my car topped out at 140MPH... I timed it this weekend"...... He is a real likeable kid and always smiling so I didnt want to make him look like a fool..... His car is a late 80 something ford probe with a cold air and a wing and a bunch of stickers and some really nice wheels..... UPDATE a month after he told me the above......He told me the other day that he finally ran the 1/4 at the track and his car ran a 17.4..... Myron

I too am one of those "on the fence" type voters. I dont claim to be a donkey nor an elephant... I think both camps have good points and both camps have skeletons in the closets.. I personally feel that polititions in general speak with forked tounges out both sides of their mouths... I hope I dont offend any Hybridz that may be a politition.. I also feel that Bush has had an Sh$#t storm thrown at him and in general he has done well considering what he has had to deal with... I also think that we as Americans are not looking at the long term.. we all know the term "Rome wasnt built in a day".. Well, NO economy or nation can be turned around in 4 years. From reading this thread I see that that people in both camps seem to pick 2 issues that they feel SUPER strongly about and they will vote for that person solely based on just TWO important issues... There are thousands of SUPER important issues at hand and I long for the day when a cantidate comes around and can address at least most of them without having to talk out of his backside.... I would vote for a guy that: 1. didnt talk out his you know what.. 2. didnt take crap from any country or forign govt. 3. respected the wishes and dreams of all americans 4. spent more time taking care of domestic issues 5. doesnt have a closet full of skeletons Man I could go on and on, but I guess I have already counted both of them out!! Myron and YES, I dont no crap about politics..

MYRON replied to KraZeeZX's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Hickl..... I am ramping up!... I decided to slack off a little on my ariel photography stuff and throw some chingy at my Z..... I may have found a 99 LS1 TA donor car.... CHEAP........ I need to decide if I wanna spend my "play money" on tools to do all this myself again or just put it in the chassis shop..... It is harder to work on stuff with my dads shop 160 miles away.... Anyway... LOOK OUT!!! Myron -

Vann, You still in or near Austin or San Marcus? I would love to see your car... Also, do you know a guy named Kyle or Nikko in Clear lake? I think we may have met before... Anyway, I'm in Austin and I would like to see your car.... Myron 936-443-9359 -
Thanks again guys, I am looking forward to creating another car... It has been a while since I have had money to spare(if there is such a thing) and now have all the choices to make about what parts and configurations to go with... 78Zlt1, I am still hardcore flying my video wing and I now have a wireless telemetry system on order... Should be cool to have all the vitals transmitted back down to a laptop... Get that wing going... One can never have too many toys! Myron
-
Hey Mike! Now that I have a little play money its time!... I may have just found a wrecked 99 LS1 TA donor car for CHEAP.... Engine, tranny, seats, and rear axle are a must!.. I'm trying to get some more details as we speak.. Looks like it is a stolen then wrecked insurance job so I am trying to find out about a clear title... I'm gettin SIKED!!! Myron

New wheels are ON and they FIT!!!
MYRON replied to KraZeeZX's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Vann, SWEEET!!! I see your location is all over the place I used to live in Conroe but now I am in Kyle, in between Austin and San Marcos.. I would love to see your ride sometime. I sold my first V8 a long time ago and I have another one in the works. I need a little motivation to get me going though. I work right off 35 and 71 so if you in the area gimme a shout. 936-443-9359 Myron -
Hey guys, It has been a long time since I have been here or in the garage working on my Z car for that matter... There are too many kids at work here now that think their "compact" cars are fast... SOOOOOO its time to take them to school!.... I now have some ching-a-ling to start throwing at my 78 so I am looking for a good chassis shop in or around Austin... Do any of you know of a good place? Myron

Hey guys, I scored a CBR600 FI motor the other day and I am thinking about sticking it in a buggy or kart chassis... Does anyone know the aproximate HP/TQ of a this late model motor... Since it is FI I think it is 2001 or newer... I cant find any HP#'s on the web... Also the swingarm is the "A" frame style, not just the arm coming back from the frame.... It looks like it is LOW miles and the oil looks pristeen.... Hoping I got a good one! Myron
