  1. Good Morning all, I logged on this morning and the HybridZ site keeps telling me "Youve got mail"..... BUT there is no new mail in my inbox... Is it supposed to do that even if the only mail I have in there is old? Myron
  2. I hear you... I grew up in a "step" parent situation... Its not easy either way... I cant tell you how many "your not my mother" arguments I saw.. I was real young so it didnt bother me much, but boy did my older sisters not like having a stepmother... I am sure whatever you do will be in his and your families best interest. He wont think so now, but when he gets older he will... Dad gave me a beater when I was 15 and told me that If I wanted a nice car that I had to build it up myself.... Dad helped of course but I had to earn that help.... Myron
  3. I hear you... My little brothers was older but he was really in love with that car and he refused to let it go.. He drove it for a while after that but eventually sold it.... You could always do the B16/turbo swap, I am sure he would love to do it and he would learn alot in the process... Keep him BUSY and OUT of trouble..... Myron
  4. Mike, At least he will have a transpo and you will save a little ins. money.. What year MR2 was it?... My little bro had one that got totaled in the front and he found a junkyard car that was totaled in the back... a little SAWSALL action and he and my dad frankenstiened the two good halves together... Funny part was that the body panels fit better after the surgery... Yes, they did add some structural reinforcements front to back... It was pretty neat the way he got the two halves to line up.. He removed a doors and made a steel frame that bolted in place just like the closed doors would fit.... There was a little more too it but you get the picture..... Myron
  5. Is there any difference in the LT1 short blocks between the first year up to the 97 model?... I am more concerened about the actual block itself not the heads and intake... I have a 97 block at the machine shop getting checked out to see if It can be salveged to do a 383 build up for my Z.... I also have a friend that has a fresh rebuilt short block(year unknown) that has been turned 10/10 and bored 30 using "good part"...I am waiting for more details on that motor..... I can buy it CHEAP and I was thinking about just keeping it on standby so when I do blow the motor in my TA I will have a spare ready to go.... Myron
  6. Isnt the 95 and earlier a "speed density" system with a crank trigger pickup in the timing cover and the 96-97 models Mass Air Flow systems?.. I had this issue pop up when I blew my motor in my 97 TA... I got a "take out" from a wrecking yard that had the crank trigger sensor in the timing cover.... and my original motor did not have this sensor... The car ran, but I still ended up taking it out..... Myron
  7. I coudlnt imagine someone ordering a Mustang 6 with an upgraded axle so I think I will take everyones advice and tell my brother to send it to that great scrap heap in the sky!.. I am just trying scrounge as many good parts as I can and save some money for the other stuff.... Myron
  8. I just talked to little bro... He said it is from a 99 Mustang and the guy that installed the Spool and gears claimed he was using 8.8 gears... Make any sense??? Can you use 8.8 gearsets this housing?.. They guy never did get the gears meshed right and they did howl a little... Are the disk brakes worth keeping to mount onto a 9" or maybe a 8.8 or even a Dana axle?... Myron
  9. Hey guys, My little brother helped a friend do an Axle swap in is mid to late Mustang LX 6Cyl.... The kid had 4.10 and a spool and NOS installed so he could "spray" his 6 and keep up with the V8's.... long story short, a little too much NOS and he ventilated his block... he got 5 out of 6 rods and cracked the block.... He ended up returning the car to completly stock config... I can get he axle with disk brakes for free.... I planned on doing a solid axle anyway so my question is this axle going to hold 400+ HP or do I need to just go with a 9"????....... Yes, I used the search function but nothing on this axle. It is in storage so I cant get any numbers off of it just yet... I dont want to even go get it if you guys think it is too weak.... Myron
  10. Zme, My dad has been in the automotive service equipment business for 30 years now. He is a distributor for all the big names in lifts/alignment racks, tire changers, balancers, ect,ect... He has been designing his own tire wear detection system. He has just recently started manufacturing these and getting them to the market place.. I think he even has a few in PA somewhere... take a look and tell me what you think... He is selling alot of the to dealerships as a sales tool and to fleets as a diagnostic tool to keep tire wear to a minimum.... He has a bunch of US and international patents... He is looking for "reps" to help sell and distribute these nationwide... http://www.castletechnologyllc.com Myron
  11. Hey Mike, I think you may remember about my Dads "invention" from a few years back. He is finally getting to market with this thing.. check it out. http://www.castletechnologyllc.com You have to dig a little to get a better understanding of the unit and its uses. If you look under "product" then scroll down to the bottom of the text you will se a "click Here" for more info... You need to keep clicking there to see all the pics... It is good for 1/4 inch of "scuff" over 1 mile of rotation...
  12. I am looking for any of you that are in the tire and wheel service industry. Also dealership service writers.... pleas speak up if your here.... Myron
  13. I know thats right!!... I could accumulate some really nice stainless to do alot of creative stuff. Forgive my ignorance, what does it take to convert a standard MIG to a TIG for stainless?.. Just the wire and gas right? You would not beleive the stupid things people do with high end welders... My Dad sometimes gets Snap-On rejects.. He got a BRAND new MIG welder the other day, FOR FREE..... the manual stated that it could be run 110 or 220 so the guy that bought it cut the 220 plug off and electrical taped a 110 plug on it... No wonder it didnt work!!!... Snap-On wrote it off as defective and my dad sometimes gets a trailor load of their "written off" tools.... He even has 3 of the high end engine scanners.. One of them was NIB but the carry-case had a dent in the corner from UPS dropping it... DOH!!!... That alone is a 3500.00 tool...... Myron
  14. Hey guys, I am in the "recycle" business and I get tons of stainless tubing of all sizes... It come from the semiconductor equipment industry so it is quality stuff... I get alot of short peices that are all mandrel bent. I have thought of collecting a bunch of it to have my own headers/exhaust built but I figured it would just cost to much to have someone do the cutting and welding... I will see if I can find a way to post a few pics for you to look at... If you want, email me direct "myron@axcesstech.net" and I can get pics to you alot quicker than me trying to post them online... Myron
  15. I have an LT1 water pump sitting on my bench and for the life of me I cant figure which tube your talking about. I have a 97 so maybe you have a different year.... I have the heater lines and radiator lines, but no oil cooler lines... Can you post a pic? I know that the "tubes" in the water pump are pressed in and your probabaly better off not trying to get them out... Myron
  16. Looks good Mike. What controls did you use? I see that they(Vintage Air) have a couple of options. Under dash knobs or a flat dash mount panel?. My little bro has a 240 with a factory installed "aftermarket looking" unit that is all pretty much under the passanger side dash that looks like a pretty simple "bolt up" option. I am going at this project totally different than I did the first Z. It is more fun spending money on guages and cool engine parts than an AC unit that is not very exciting to look at BUT for the most ergonomic and streetable car you gotta start with the basics... I have a HUGE list of the things I want to have in the car and I just gotta figure the order to put them in.... Seeing your AC has just moved that item to the top of the list!... Myron
  17. Hey, Looking for the link to the pics but dont see it!... I will look around on their web site to see if I can get a better idea of what you have... If you dont mind me asking, what did you have to give for it? and did it include the comprosser and all the lines? Myron
  18. Good Afternoon All, I tried the search function and didnt have any luck... I am looking to see if anyone has used an aftermarket air conditioning system in their car. The car has the original A/C but is has been "open" for so long and it has also been laying around a dirty atic, garage, back yard and shed for many years now. I am not real confident that it is much good anymore. It also seems to take up alot of space and it is pretty heavy. Any info would be great.. Thanks, Myron
  19. Thats nothin... go to http://www.wreckedexotics.com to see the real carnage!.. It is amazing that someone that can afford a vehicle like that actually beleives that because they are rich, they can "handle" a what amounts to a street legal race car. Myron
  20. Hey Guys, I have most of a spare 97 LT1 that I pulled from my TA... You say 95 is the "most desireable" becasue of the vented opti. When you say "vented " you are talking about the small hole with the vacuum line running to the emmisions system to keep the opti dry right?... I may be incorrect as to where that vent goes, but I have a little problem with the vented opti being the "most desireable"... When your water pump goes a vented opti pretty much gets hosed with anti-freeze... Least it did on my 97... I was pissed off about having to replace a 150 dollar water pump only to discover that I had to do the same to a 250 dollar opti!!! And talk about a NOT SO FUN job that was!.... Not to mention I decided to replace the plugs and wires at the same time... that "tune up" cost me like 600 bones and 8 hours of time... And I had it on a lift too... Anyway since I have a bunch of 97 LT1 parts it looks like that is what is going into my 2nd V8 Swap..... Myron

    RC Z CARS?

Hey guys, I remember WAY back and there was a member on this forum that had a line on the Z bodies. They were Lexan(pretty standard RC 1/10th) scale. Maybe if you use the search engine here the post may come up. It was at least a couple of years ago though. I think he was arranging a group purchase because they were coming from over seas... Anyone try Kyosho or Tamiya?... I will look through some of my offshore catalogs for some info. I have some that have the SUPER high end cars that they race in Europe.. The cars are larger and WAY more sophisticated than the average hobby shop car here... Most are 1/4 scale and the F1 cars have 4 wheel disk(cross drilled or slotted) brakes that are pnuematicly opperated.. Totaly trick stuff! Myron
  22. Hey guys, Darth bought a 50's era lead sled to restore. I havnt seen or heard from him since I picked up the Z car from him. Z dreamer I have built all the popular WWII fighters in 1/5 scale... Unfortunately they dont fly that great but they do look nice. I mostly fly scale Areobatic stuff in 1/4 scale now... I cant wait to start posting pics of the work in progress!... I am realling FEENING to get it on the road... Myron
  23. Hey 0N3GO, You should hook up with HICKL.. He is a good friend of mine. We went to HS together and had some good times. He is in the Woodlands/Conroe area. His car hauls the mail and he got that thing finished quicker than just about anyone that I know.. Z-Dreamer still curious about the P-47 pic? Thanks again guys... Myron
  24. Wow, You guys still remember!.... The car I am resurecting actually belonged to Darth. I got a screaming deal on it... Not a SPECK of rust!!!. It came with New doors and fenders fresh from the body shop and the interior has all been redone/re-dyed so it all looks new and shinney... I was a moderator back in the day but I guess after you drop out of site that kinda goes away. Whats up with the P-47 "JUG" pic??? I just finished a large RC one and sold it to my brother.... For those that dont remember, I had a 77 that was going together at a good pace when my house flooded and the car got about 18" of water. that doesnt sound bad, but the engine/tranny were in but no timing cover and no tranny dipstick... DOH!!! it got full of water and I had to push the car into the yard. Insurance didnt pay for anything relating to the car and I coudlnt work on it until the house was repaired... It sat full of water for about 6 months.... Good side is that ins DID pay nicely for the house which I re-did myself... I ended up putting 12K in the car after that.. It was aproximately 450HP and it would run 0-60 in about 4.5 sec and hit 117mph in the qtr..... Then the economy crashed and I had to sell it for 5750.00 total..... How can I post a pic of it before I sold it... I am trying to hit the "img" button button but i am not having much luck..... Myron [/img]
  25. Thanks guys, I am still trying to get settled into my new house. It is located in a very small town just south of Austin called Kyle. It is a rental so I cant do everything that I want to the garage to get all my gear set back up but I will find way to at least get everthing functional. I have an 80 gallon compressor and a big oven for powder coating that I need to get wired up. I have the car in the garage on a dolly so I can move it around to work on. It is just a shell right now and I have most of the parts for either an LT1 or a BBC... Cant decide how hairy I want to go just yet!.... Now all I really need is that monthly infusion on cash!... Things are going well with my new career so it wont be long before I have her going.. Thanks again for the warm welcome back Myron
