  1. Thats the one!.... looks like the Dog has the power to weight ratio on his side!.. They use male American Bulldogs to hunt hogs... BIG ONES.. I have seen pictures of a male latched onto a 280LB feril hog.... the owner of the dog finished him off with a buck knife. From the picture i saw it looks like the owners will put a kevlar vest on the dog to prevent goring form the tusk of the hogs... I have a great pic of my 19 month old son and the dog, but I cant figure out how to post it... Myron
  2. Just as an example: One of my best friends has a 70 camaro with: 383 CI 10.5 compression ratio Brodix 11x or Track One's(cant remember)modified to flow 335CFM .660'ish roller cam + crane gold 1.60 ratio rockers which brings that # up... That is the basics and it Dynoed 602 NA HP Myron
  3. Sorry to hear about all of your pets. I had 2 of our cats killed a while back by some stray dogs. I chased them on foot and they dropped my wifes cat but it was pretty much a gonner. We had to have her put to sleep and when we got home we found my cat dead in the yard. I was enraged at this point and strapped on my full house custom government model .45, jumped on my 4 wheeler and went tearing through a relatively peaceful golfcourse neighborhood looking for the dogs.. I didnt find them but animal controll did.. probably a good thing.. Here may be a solution to your cat problem... www.outpostnet.com/abo/index.html When you get there look under the American Bulldog Gallery then Gallery #2 about midway down is a picture of an American Bulldog AND a Cougar. I unfortunately have to give mine away. She is staying with my parents while I relocate and the neighbors weenie dog squeezed through a hole in the fence chasing a cat. Needles to say the weenie didnt fare too well and my mom is now terrified of the Bulldog.. I have tried to plead my case that she was just being an animal and protecting her yard but it doesnt seem to be working.. Myron
  4. Mike, I'm sure things will work out soon. It is always darkest just before dawn. I know that the dawn in my case will be as soon as April 19th mid afternoon when Jake comes out of surgery. I hope for you and Donna that it comes sooner.. I know the not knowing part is the hardest to deal with. Good luck brother... Myron
  5. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the support!... On a lighter and more up-lifting note... Check out my post in "Announcements"... Some of you may get lucky... I did!!! Myron
  6. Thanks for the support guys. I need all I can get!.. As soon as Jake recovers from this deal my wife and I are going to really start looking for a house. Hopefully on with a BIG garage like my last one!... Rumor has it that my Z's front suspension is ready for me to pick it up at the chassis shop.. Maybe with the next 60-90 days I will be able to start tinkering with it again.. Myron
  7. John, are you running any sort of higher ratio rocker arms?.. You must figure in a little extra lift for those.. I think with 1.6 rockers up the lift by .030 per .10 increase in rocker ratio. I am assuming Grumpyvette is using DD2000 or something similar? Is that correct Grumpy?.. I have used the program alot and have discovered that it is very accurate on HP #'s but usually a little low on the torque #'s... I ran the config of several friends motors that have actual dyno pulls and compared the #'s to what the program generated and I was pretty impressed with the results.. if fact in one case a friends 383 roller motor dyno'ed 602HP and the DD2000 claimed 604HP... the torque was around 40 lbs off at peak and the range was not as good in the software. The motor had over 450lbs starting around 3500 RPM and maxed at 545... Myron
  8. Thanks Pete. I have done alot of research lately on both the surgery and the surgeon. Turns out the surgeon(Dr. Taylor)is world renound for his work and he has been written about in all the big medical journals. He does these operations on newborns and people come to him from around the world. Texas Childrens is also supposedly the best care facility in the US for this kind of procedure.... It is just VERY HEARTBRAKING seeing your little one go through this and not to mention seeing all the other children and their parents at the hospital waiting for their appointments.. It will tear you up for sure.. Myron
  9. Mike I gotta tell you that I feel your pain and that I hope for the best for you and Donna. I too have been in such a similar situation as you have. I have to say that it is great to hear your optimism and to see the outporing of support by the members of this forum.... After many economic hard times with my previous employer I had to just get out of a bad situation. I started a new career about 75 miles south of where I was living. I had to rent my house out and we are now staying with the inlaws to get back on our feet.. That was my curve ball.. Here is my monkey wrench in the gears. We found out last month that our 19 month old son Jake was diagnosed with ASD(Aatrial Septal Defect) a congenital heart defect that requires open heart surgery. The doctors told us not to worry and that these things sometimes go for many years undetected without causing too much harm. They also said that we should have the surgery done inside of a year and that the doctors schedule the most severe cases first... We got a call a few weeks ago and was told that the surgery was scheduled for this month. As if our stress level was not already maxed out at the career change and move!... I am sure everything will work itself out for both of our families... HANG IN THERE!!!! Myron Hybriz member #4
  10. The hardest part about painting under the hood is getting it prepped so the paint will stick.. Is the car in running and driving condition?. Painting the door frames is really no biggie, just that engine compartment is the trouble! Myron
  11. Bobby, Awesome timeslips, Is that with the green Z I sent you on the goose chase looking for?... I moved and changed my #'s give me a call when you get a chance... Myron 936-443-9359
  12. I have a little story closer to home.. My old man services the equipment(wheel balancer/lifts ect.) in Hennesseys shop. My dad did service for him and he DID get paid in a timely fashion. I also have a good friend that had Hennessey do a job on his Corvette Z06 and the car is a SCREAMER. There were no issues encountered with the transactions with Hennessey that I am aware of on these deals. I am not trying to defend him because I do not know him, but my dad knows him pretty well. These 2 situations are different then some of the things posted on the net in the fact that his shop is only a few miles away and one usually does not "crap in his own back yard"... Again not trying to defend Hennessey in any way, just trowing in my 2 cents worth..
  13. Mike has good point on not going overboard with you finances on your project. I too was in a similar situation as Mike and I spent alot of money on my car(12K)and the next thing you know something happens and you have to sell your car AND finish paying off the plastic... As mentioned I put around 12 grand in the car and had to dump it for 5200.00 total. Needles to say, I was HURTIN after that one!... Such is life.... I have recently started my life over again with a new career and a new place to live... Hopefully soon I will be able to get back to work on my 78 V8Z that is sitting behind my other house... Myron
  14. I just installed a set of these in my TA and have to tell you, I am thoroughly IMPRESSED... They have restored a somewhat "sporty" feel back to the car(the TA is no Z in the handeling dept). I have them set on max stiffness and they feel super firm yet not to harsh when it comes to road noise and the lane dividers... I have not priced out the Tokicos lately but the KYB's are relatively cheap at 89.00 each for the TA.. I'm not sure if they are available for the Z though... Myron
  15. Hey, I havnt run my DD2000 in a while but my 355CI with 2.05/1.60 dart heads with 215cc runners and 64cc chambers(10.21CR)gasket matched to a Brodix HV1 pro bracket intake that was also plenum ported with an 830cfm(750base/850body)HP4150 carb and a solid roller setup .554 int/.567ex and 1.65 roller rockers which adds something like .030 to total lift on both making around .585 and .596 max lift... DD2000 claimed 464HP and 434TQ.. then I ran the car with a Gtech pro and it claimed 386 RWHP and 0-60 in 4.5 sec and 1/4 mile 12.24 at 117... it also cut a 1.79 60 foot but the diff blew when I hit 2nd so i never really got to dial it in... Hope this helps... Myron
  16. I am looking at possibly doing a performance buildup of a ford 260 V8.. I dont have a clue about this motor other that I have seen gasket sets for 260/289/302 listed as the same.. Is this true?... Can the 260 be bored and stroked? and to what?... What about the heads, any good?.. This motor will be going in an 1800 lb Sunbeam Tiger. Myron
  17. If you havnt seen the videos here is the link. Darious is not always on a computer like some of us so he is not real quick to respond via email. http://w1.movies.taner.net/darius/ Myron
  18. Hey guys, I put a set of Corbeau TargaRS in my previous Z. They were way to big and I had to remove the factory mounts and with a cage in the back half of the car it was a tight fit. The seats do lay back, but anyone much bigger than 5'10" 180 would be way to tight and uncomfortable.... You can see pics of the seats in the members rides... Myron
  19. If you have surface rust it is an easy fix, but if it is "deep" then you should replace the rusted out parts with new floorpans and framerails. A tube chassis would cost you alot of money. It is hard to make an assesment of the repairs without actually seeing the car. Myron

    Turbo 350 Woes

Could be the sprag or drum..You may want to check one other thing. I had a TH350 that I thought was dying and it turned out to be the differential trying to lock up... It would drive normal for a little bit and then BAM it would feel like the brakes were getting slammed on... There is a steel shaft the keeps the planetary gears in place in the diff and it broke. When this shaft started to slide out of it natural position it woul try to get wedged in between the ring and pinion gear in the diff. causing it to feel as though the tranny was locking up... Myron
  21. Glad to hear you got it going again. Your lucky it wasnt the optispark unit going out, those things are expensive! Myron
  22. does the knock sound like it is coming from the bottom end or top end of the motor? It would be hard to tell any thing until you get exhaust on it.
  23. I would do some shopping! Final bid on my LT1 was 1250.00 and 350.00 for shipping. Yes I did make some money on the shipping so I actually got 1450.00 for a complete LT1 with EVERTHING included except plugs and wires.. AC/PS/ALT/Starter, heck it even included all the power wires from the battery to the starter. It to had 55,000 miles and I drove my car for a week before it took it out... Myron
  24. Bobby, are you going weld in you own or do a bolt in unit? I had bolt in Autopower that was decent and it did not interfere with anything else in the car. Myron
  25. There is plenty of reasons for one to go either way. Carbed motors are simple and parts are inexpensive for basic parts. The LT1 is a complex motor and may require more tweeking in the initial installation, but once it is in, you will not have to jack with jets for tuning and a choke in the winter. It is a smooth running engine that builds alot of power and torque all the way through its rpm range. A stock motor with headers and a high flow intake and a computer reprogram is over 300hp easy. yes part are expensive. I dogged my 97TA all the time and basically just thrashed on it. it finally died at 117,000 miles.. before that I spent 150 bucks in maintanance and I never had to tune it. I garuntee you will not get that out of a 350 carbed motor that has an hei type disty... If a stock 325hp WS6 is capable of 13's in a 3400lb car, think of what that will do for your 2700lb Z.. My small change! Myron
